2014 Cologne Thread

smelled virgin island water today. :puke::puke::puke: fuck dat shit.

the tom ford noir de noir is the ABSOLUTE worst cologne i've ever smelled... it's HEAVY HEAVY on the rose, and i HATE rose.

polo red has a good top and middle note, but the bottom note (dry down) sucks.

and the bond fragrances i've tried so far are ALL overrated except the chez bond.

Try Signature Bond.

I love dis shit!!!

Basic explanation of why some scents seem to fade over time is often based on it's concentration. From highest to lowest concentration (and cost):

Perfume/parfum
Eau de parfum
Eau de toilette
Eau de cologne

IMO, higher concentration scents are better for colder months...

That Creed VI water make them bitches water.....:dance::dance:

:dunno: i sprayed the VIW on my wrist at the store and couldn't wait to get home and wash it off.

the women might like it, but something about it makes me wanna throw up.

with Creed... it's Santal, GIT, or Aventus. fuck the rest.

i've received my DHI and the Pure Malt... and in the battle of the new gear for 2014, i'm rolling with:

this has good reviews but it's very $$$ like that creed and bond no 9.

i hope it's good bc i only like 2 or 3 creeds and only 1 bond fragrance so far.

is it similar to anything out right now? :dunno:

YVES SAINT LAURENT
L'Homme Intense

Intensify the power of seduction. The new masculine addition from Yves Saint Laurent is a provocative blend of woody notes wrapped in a sensual suede accord. The magnetic power of L’Homme is now even more irresistible.

Notes:
Italian Cedrat, Bergamot, White Pepper, Orange Flower, Violet Leaf, Indian Davana, Cedar Wood, Suede Accord, Benzoin Siam.
Style:
Elegant. Desirable. Charismatic.

Gucci Made To Measure

The Gucci Made to Measure fragrance is intensely masculine, created for the man who demands the very best—a man whom others aspire to be. It's inspired by the Gucci Made to Measure suit and specially crafted with the Gucci philosophy of attention to detail.

Notes:
Calabrian Bergamot, French Lavender, Anis Seed, Sri Lankan Nutmeg, Juniper Berry, Cistus Labdanum, Patchouli, Leather.
Style:
Masculine. Sophisticated. Empowered.

Yeah I kept my PM and sold my DHI as well. If I had that silver collar I would've kept it though

The ingredients sound good on that Gucci I'm gonna have to try that out.

Acqua Di Parma is a popular brand. I wouldn't try the scent posted though, I HATE oud fragrances

I can't speak for the next guy, but that pure malt is simply a head turner...just like creed aventus.

the DHI dries down to smell just like JPG to me...very much like baby powder.

one of my best friends is an Italian chef from treviso, italy. he's gon see about getting that acqua di parma stuff from his sources there to save me some $.

2014 Fall / Winter

What do yall recommend since .... Winter is Coming
Fall is my favorite times for wearing colognes. It's warm enough in the "indian summer" that you can wear some sping/summer stuff, then the days get cooler and nights get chilly, and you can wear warmer, spicier scents. This year, as the days/evenings get cooler/colder, I'll be wearing-

Tobacco Vanille (Tom Ford)

Spice and Wood (Creed)

Terre d'Hermes (Hermes)

Bois du Portugal (Creed)

Royal Oud (Creed)

Jubilation XXV (Amouage)

London (Burberry)

Pure Malt/Havane (Mugler)

Cooper Square (the only Bond I can tolerate)

John Varvatos vintage

Homme Intense (Dior)

sampling- considering full bottles of;

M7 (YSL)

Blackbird (House of Matriarch)

Sexmagic (house of Matriarch)

L'instant de Guerlain Extreme (Guerlain)

Colonia Leather (Acqua di Parma)- This smells very close to T.F Tuscan leather, but has a citrus/floral note where the T.F has a raspberry note. I have actually been wearing this in the warm weather too, but I think I may end up with a F.B soon. I'm burning through an 8ml sample pretty fast because I like it so much.

Tobacco (odori)

Tabac Aurea (Sonoma Sent Studios)

Keep in mind, I'm an older dude (40+) so some of these may smell like "old man"

trying to get a sample of Mugler's pure wood- (no homo)

I'm also currently looking for a patchouli-based scent. I've been sampling for a couple of weeks. sampled maybe 15 different juices.

I've narrowed my choices down to 4 so far-

Patchouli 24 (Le Labo)

Patchouli Imperial (Dior)

Straight to Heaven (by Killian)

Noir Patchouli (Histories de Parfums)

still trying to get my hands on a sample of Bois 1920 pure patchouli.

any recommendations for patchouli based (w/patchouli as the primary or single note) scents would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not buying anything new, I have a pretty solid lineup. Its still gonna be in the 80's up until about dec for where I live at. So Creed MI and Aventus for me. Maybe some YSL here and there :dunno:

today i called the dior boutiques in miami, dallas, new york, and las vegas... and i called the main dior store in nyc.

all the locations, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, was sold out of dior homme intense, and NONE of them could tell me when they'd get more.

is this stuff THAT damn good, or is it just marketing hype?

I got that shit at duty free in the airport. My woman loves it. I make sure I wear it whenever I go anywhere without her and let her smell me as I'm leaving. :D

Are there any quality colognes that smell like or have hints of chocolate/coco??? I want da hoes to be like, damn, that blike ass nigga smell like sum'n good ta' eat, smellin' like chocolate. :D

Gentleman gather around. Fall and winter soon cometh. Jo Malone Pomegranate is a great fall fragrance. I'm a fan so i got the body wash and the big home candle for my spot. Women loves when your place, and smells great. BlackBerry and bay another great fall fragrance. If you are in the south or west the new joint by Jm wood, sage and sea salt is a winner. I like Jm because I can layer colonges ie BlackBerry and bay and also the wood sage and sea salt. I've layered them and they smell great together. Ps don't sleep on the candles or the bed sprays for your bed sheets. You're all welcome.
why not spray the bed & pillows with a whiff of your cologne (her favorite)?

sent from Max's G-Note III

Man I'm tempted to get this.

I got my DHI and I like that joint too.

Max, you didn't like the Dior?

I'm a candle person as well.

I use Diptyque candles & room spray- I have never smelt anything better.

A couple of things to keep an eye on- I was looking for a patchouli for the cooler months- Tom Ford is releasing a new Private blend- Patchouli Absolu in the next few weeks. I got in on a 50ml split blind-

Bond no. 9 is supposed to be releasing New York Sandalwood in the coming weeks as well. I'm not a bond fan, but I am a sandalwood fan, so I'll be sure to check this one out.
