16-year-old turns down harvard to attend famu.

harvard isnt known for their engineering departments. harvard, though a prerequisite for future greatness, if it isnt fact aka science base, it's a waste of time. I stated earlier that in my opinion that there are only 2 schools who are strong in every department. Those schools being Princeton and Stanford.

If I'm an engineering major, Princeton ain't on my list.

This kid is an idiot for turning down Harvard. That's what happens when your parents don't really know how to play the game of life.

I wasn't replying to you, but to this I'll say that I doubt very much that pursuing a m.e. degree at Harvard would be a waste of time. But to remain relevant to the topic at hand, i'll say this: I'll rather have an m.e. degree from Harvard than one from FAMU no matter how the respective programs compare. That's just the truth of the matter.

GA ain't shit. No offense. CIT and MIT are the best tech schools period.

GA's an ag college dude. What's that got to do with Ga. Tech? And if you think that Ga. Tech ain't shit, you're clearly on that meth.

Rank 1 Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Cambridge, MA

Rank 2 Stanford University
Stanford, CA

Rank 3 University of California--Berkeley
Berkeley, CA

Rank 4 Georgia Institute of Technology
Atlanta, GA

"Ain't shit", huh?:hmm:

I dont believe harvard is in any top 20 engineering schools.

plenty more bad bitches at FAMU if he ever take his nose out them books. Education, Money, and Family first, bad bitches a close second!

some people are gifted academics but have no common sense thats why geniuses arent always rich and or powerful, not going to harvard is a bad sign unless you chose an equivalent school like yale MIT oxford, cambridge, etc

yale? Oxford? Cambridge? Man, unless youre trying to talk about nothing, those universities are borderline useless. If you want to get things done please enroll at MIT, Princeton, Stanford. Mainly Stanford; my daughter is going to go there when she grows up. Princeton is plan b.

Yeah, but our son majored in computer science. Harvard ain't got shit on Tech in that dept.

Harvard's computer science program produced Bill Gates (founder of Microsoft) and Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook). I went to Morehouse and Ga Tech for Undergrad and I am currently going to Harvard for Grad School and I can assure you that Harvard's Comp Sci is just as competitive Tech's. Also, a Harvard degree in anything will hold a lot more weight than a degree from Tech.

As much as people don't want to admit it, name recognition goes a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way.

Trust me, I'm not worried about my kid's future with a Ga. Tech degree. My youngest is going to UGA or UF for journalism with a music minor next year. He's doing a campus visit to UNC next month, so who knows?

Harvard's 19th.

Where does FAMU clock in?

:confused::confused::confused:

But look, I don't want to lose sight of what's important here. The young brother is bright and has a great future ahead of him. We need more stories like this out there because you know they just like to paint us in a negative light. I wish the best to him...............

Good for him, he'll be okay where ever he goes. It seems that he's got a good head on his shoulders. It's all about the person. It will be even better for him if he does his graduate studies at an Ivy league.

:yes: and to be honest he may not even choose an ivy after graduating. he should probably go to the best graduate engineering program he can get a free ride @.

either way, you can tell this kid will probably do fine. the main thing he has goin for him other than being smart as hell is a serious family/ support network. good luck to the kid.

Are you serious? Isnt well known (simpsons pointed this out last night) that they both left Harvard?

Fuck going to FAMU if I can go to Harvard. That is like saying I want a gold digger so I'm going to fuck with Montana if you want the best gold digger you go with Lisa Raye.

:yes: I'd rather him go to FAMU than prison.

This may be true, but if it came down to an employer choosing a person for a position and it's between a FAMU grad and a Harvard grad, who do you think will get the greater consideration? *Guarantee* you, that hiring manager will stop reading the resume when he sees Harvard University, and use the FAMU resume for basketball practice.

:lol::lol::lol: True

Good points brotha

All the kid has to do is show him the news article, he's never going to need a resume for anything for anyone.
I hope that you aren't serious and were joking.

Employers are familiar with their areas of expertise so they should be aware of what schools have the best programs in specific areas of study. Harvard is not up there with MIT,Ga. Tech,Cal Tech or FAMU when it comes to Engineering as your course of study. Now if this kid were studying law he would have been a fool to turn down Harvard.
I hope that he makes the best of his opportunity and does well and doesn't get caught up in some chick.

Based on how hard she got played in her divorce I don't think that Lisa Raye is the best gold digger.

Free ride to harvard is better than a free ride to famu

However How come he didnt have any Georgia schools on his list?

GA tech and emory are very good school as well

One thing fa sure he will have FUN at FAMU!!:lol:

Yeah the story was a poor idea, even the picture(him looking like a young carlton banks) is just tacky.

I don't remember the sat's going up as high as 2400. Is this something new?

Yep. Fucked me up too. I graduated in 84, so I know shit's different now. It's like when I went to my nephew's graduation, and the valedictorian and a GPA of 4.98. Those AP classes will push your shit up there.
