►►► OFFICIAL UFC 189 - Mendes vs. McGregor - Sat. July 11th 2015

Connors def no bum, his fights are fun to watch. He's great at what he does (talk, get most dudes to abandon their strengths/ lose composure and then overwhelms them with his devastating stand up). With that said, he DID kinda get dogged out, even in winning a tough fight (for a change).

Most of us were saying how fascinating this match up would be because we knew Mendes was an animal CM hadn't seen yet, and even you have to admit: Mendes got in Connors ass. Im not ignorant enough to say CM got "lucky", he won because he overcame Mendes and put him down. But at the same time it was anybodys fight up until that moment....and Mendes was doing to him something we hadn't yet seen. Other dudes will see this and be licking their chops..

Id love to see a rematch down the road, with the type of Mendes we saw in the last Aldo fight. But thats likely a ways off. .
Yeah I'll admit chad was doing his thing on the ground and Conor did his thing on the feet...The one who gets to do what HE does the best the longest WINS. Conor is a BEAST on his feet and Chad is a beast on the ground..thus styles makes fights  Conor McGreger takes a better punch than Chad IMO and that cost him in this fight

:smh: @ them talking like taking a fight on 2 weeks notice had nothing to do with the loss. He had to cut a shit load of weight while training and conditioning. Just one of those three things alone takes more that 2 weeks for a 5 round fight. EVERYBODY in that building knows that, but they're talking like Mendes didn't expose McGregor before he got winded.
Yep.

And he did all this after having to cut mad weight..had he NOT had to do that who knows how much worse Chads ass whoopin would have been. How Conor got outta that choke is beyond me
And why did he have to cut a "shit load of weight"? And why did he struggle so bad to do so? Chad struggling to cut is one thing, he had 15 days to train and cut. Conor had 5 months!?

Great fights tonight. Congrats to Conor for winning BUT- I still can't jump on that bandwagon. He got taken down easy as hell. But damn, his standup game is real.
His stand up is legit but his reach was the advantage last nite. That and the two week notice Mendes has to train for him were very problematic. He was handpicked to fight Connor.

 now yall saying the fight is fixed lol connor won ok get over it.it wasnt fixed dude was gassed, his body was hurt from them kicks.

Your funny when you try hard..I say what I say cuz there were soooooooo many here that said Conors was gonna get DOGGED OUT. I like discussing conversational shit thats why i'm making comments on all those that said he wouldn't pull off a win over such a skilled a wrestler..as Chad so all those that talked SHIT that mendes was gonna beat that ass I'm saying they all were Wrong thats all

Welp! Looks like your inner beef is with those that said such things, not me :hmm:

I expected McGregor to win, I expected him to have a better takedown defense, and I expected him to not allow himself get exposed.

those x-rays on Rory nose is gonna be gruesome:eek:

it was a great fight, if you ask me mendes corner

lost it for him, they shouldve told him to stay

inside and hold, do NOT let this conner kid find

his range..

and conner found his range... end game!!

personally I think mendes is a waaay better fighter..

but fuckin eight inches of reach, used effectively..

is hard for an opponent to overcome...

reach in the fight game is like

Height in basketball and speed in track...

A great card, for real. You can tell by the response from bars, parties, and the online community (forums, message boards, sites & social media). Massive positive response & discussion.

- Matt Brown subbing Means to close out the prelims
- Almeida w/ the flying knee stoppage on Pickett
- Gunnar Nelson subbing Thatch
- Bermudez & Stephens straight scrappin' ... what a battle ... another flying knee stoppage on the main card
- Lawler and Rory M' putting on a 170lb title fight for the ages after having first competed in the fall of 2013. Massive heart & grit from both. GDamn.
- Mendes coming in on short notice and taking it to Conor M' with the takedowns and G&P ... Conor doing what he does with the stand-up ... making the eventual title fight unification with Aldo later this year (or early-2016) even more massive than it already was planning to be. Shiiiit. Conor's sisters with the T&A. Irish fans singing and dancing in the lobby/concourse ... The Baldfather & the Fertitta brothers counting their stacks of millions. That's wassup ...

:eek::lol::dance:

Just finished watching this card, sorry I missed it live, but the scraps were all on point. KO of the night came from that Alameida knee, I could feel that shit reverberating from last night. Felt like the whole area heard that shit whether they saw it or not. As for the main event, we saw the chink in Mcgregor's armor. He don't have shit on the ground. It was Chad's fight on the ground, he switched the momentum until he lost the guilltotine and had to stand up again. McGregor's reach won this fight, I think.

Agreed re: Almeida. Great 1st round with him and the much older Pickett. We were all expecting a potential FOTN the way they were going at it. Nope. Almeida stopped him within the first 30 seconds of the 2nd. 15 of his 20 wins via stoppage over the years.

Check out that record √

Yeah ... that 1st round was slow & methodical, but as the fight picked up ... OH SHIT :eek::eek:

I was with new MMA fans who saw the first round and was like "womp..."

I kept telling them "these guys are both great and respect each other's power"

Then the 2nd round happened...

They came w me to watch UFC 170 and want me to tell em about every fight lol
