Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

A few notes...

Uriah Hall better bring his fucking A game because if he doesn't show out, his ass will be getting fired. Talent is there, that mental game just doesn't seem to click once the big lights are on.

Anderson Silva says he is back but damn, this is the first time ever where I'm wondering if he can win his belt back. He has to be hunger. More than before. Weidman, like it or not is talented and DOES have knock out power.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

J2Clips -

Yeah ... should be interesting to see how this card plays out.

- Silva is basically one of the P4P best the sport will ever see. Past, present, or future.
- Weidman is undefeated in his MMA career at this point
- Rousey is a beast with her go-to move. We need to see her taken into rounds 2, 3, and further though. Olympian level judoka right here.
- Tate ... been a fan of hers for years. Please take it out of the 1st round, Miesha. You've put on good fights for years (Rousey, Zingano, Coenen, Kedzie, and more).
- Poirier ... one of the most exciting fighters in the sport. Always fun to watch this cat. Trains @ ATT nowadays.
- Brandao ... another fun fighter to watch. Cardio can be questionable as fights progress ... but is a former TUF winner, and isn't a boring cat.
- Barnett - Not the most exciting cat ... but is a vet' & durable
- Browne ... Fun to watch this cat ... showed good mental toughness by surviving the Overeem onslaught and coming back to stop him thereafter
- Hall - like you said ... needs to begin going for it. Had major promise coming off of TUF ... but needs to relax and let his hands & feet go
- Leben - Kudos to him for overcoming his demons ... and training with the cats in San Diego, etc. But he's 1-4 in his last 5 (but 4-4 in his last 8). His career will be winding down soon. He's been a UFC vet since 2005. Plus he was one of the first UFC cats to be put on Silva's human highlight reel back around 2006 or so. Ya'll know that fight ... Spider lit Chris the fuck up!!
- Tibau - always a durable cat. Amazing how he cuts down to 155.
- Johnson - Steadily improving fighter. TUF runner-up years back on his season.
- Siver / Gamburyan - Should be a fun little scrap with 2 short muthafuckas with T-Rex arms. They must be relatives of Sean Sherk's or something.
- Howard / Bahadurzada - 2 tough, scrappy cats ... hopefully they deliver plenty of stand-up exchanges and minimal grappling or ground work :D

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

I think that Weidman will win because is young, hungry, full of confidence, he's well rounded and Silva's chin may not be what it used to be after the KO (kind of like Chuck Liddell at the end of his career) ...

But after watching this vid, I cannot help myself from rooting for Anderson Silva... Show us who is the GOAT one last time!!!

Go #TeamSilva!!! #SilvaCanada #SilvaToGold

I think Silva will win. He played around too much and cost himself a win basically.

Weidman is NO JOKE. His wrestling is his key to winning. But Silva should be able to strike him as long as he keeps his hands up---which set him up for takedwon but hey.

I am also looking forward to Browne-Barnett. Big ramifications there. Winner should figth Cain though style-side I think Barnett is the rougher opponent, though Cormier already beat him.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

2 major issues with Silva in this rematch!

1) Silva's biggest weakness? He is susceptible to a lead left hand!!! Something happens to Silva when he is in the south paw stance, its like he cant "see" the left hand coming! I watched his last 5 fights and almost every time Silva has been hit hard, its been a lead left hand, while he was in a south paw stance. If I can see that flaw in his defense, I know Weidman's team can see it.

2) His mindset - He doesn't seem to have that fire anymore! Before the 2nd Sonnen fight,he was telling the media how he was going to whoop that ass and teach Chael a lesson. In all his interviews for this rematch with Chris, all his comments are "If God wants me to be champ, then that is what will happen. If it is his will, then I will regain my belt. But if not, no problem, I will still be satisfied that I did my best." It reminded me of the way he was speaking before the first fight, like his heart wasn't into fighting anymore.

I am still rooting for Silva, I just hope he takes this fight serious

With Sonnen Silva got dominated and was on his back most of the fight.
Fans hadn't seen that so it was shocking and Silva had to prove that he could dominate Sonnen.
Silva felt embarrassed by the performance plus he was injured.

Like you said it's about mindset. Silva knows that he lost by fucking around, he knows that he didn't get "Beaten" if that makes sense.
He doesn't have the same hunger to prove people wrong. I think that he feels that he just needs to fight his fight to be victorious.

Hopefully he'll be all business and it's over in less than a minute.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Should be interesting to see how it plays out tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

- When will Rousey get taken into deep water(s)?
- Does Silva go FULL MATRIX on Weidman (i.e. - kicking Belfort in the chops)?
- Hopefully we get a nipslip from the homegirl Tate
- Barnett's making one last push for a title shot in the next year or two
- Weidman has deceptively long reach (per the media/podcasters) ... people remarked on same with the 1st fight back in July
- Hopefully we get some fireworks and potential FOTN from Poirier and Brandao ... those cats aren't known for boring outings

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

I expect silva to beat Weidman rather easily. Before Silva fucked around he was easily beating Weidman. Wideman has no answer for silva's striking, only an answer for him fucking around. Widman has to hunt for the submission early, but anderson has shown over and over that he can submit wrestlers when he chooses. I also suspect that Weidman has a suspect gas tank, He was slowing down in the 1st fight and he looked horrible in the Damian Maia fight(yes he took it on short notice, but still none the less he gassed) I think silva can beat him rather easily in the late 2nd or 3rd round.

I have no clue how Tate beats Rousey, Rousey is just on another level of athleticism, and Tate didn't even bring in the girls who can beat Rousey in Judo. Its a french girl and a Japanese girl who can deal with her style. The only real hole I see in her game is her tendency to give up her back when she's in that front head lock type maneuver. Im not sure what the judo name for it, but she does it to everyone and she has gotten her back taken twice. If the fight goes to the ground I expect rousey to end it rather quickly. If either get to emotional (Rousey trying to get a KO or Tate going to the ground) I expect the other fighter to win.

Good breakdown of the main & co-main events, MasterKey. Agreed on those points. In the pre-fight press conference one of the media members asked Weidman about cardio concerns (not having a lot of Octagon time over the years too) and he noted it wasn't a problem, and to ask anyone in his gym. Like you said though ... he tired in the Silva win, and that whole Maia-Weidman fight was terrible back in 2012 or so. Neither cat looked good. I hope Tate somehow pulls off the upset ... it would be fun to see them have an eventual trilogy (even though Zingano should truly be next in line, but the injury & surgery fucked things up). It was something seeing Carmouche get Rousey's back in February and start cranking the face & neck ... Rousey's a gamer though and wasn't going out like that in a min' or two in the prime slot of a PPV headliner. She made sure to get that grip on homegirl's arm within the next few mins :)

You can't compare Chucks knockouts to Silva because Silva sat there and let Weidman hit him while Chuck got knocked tha fuck out during exchanges.
Prior to getting knocked out Silva was frustrating Weidman because he couldn't hit him until he stood in front of him playing dazed and hurt.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

Uriah hall needs to get it done or its off to Bellator he goes.
He has been highly disappointing so far. :smh:

Agreed. Very talented cat ... just needs to let those hands & feet go. Aggression & all that. Good thing is that Leben is a fighter's fighter ... and will plod forward & is too tough for his own good (8+ years in the UFC at this point, the battles with his demons & suspensions, and the damage he's dished out & received over time). Hopefully we get to watch some heavy exchanges.

Actually, Weidman knocked out of Silva was not based totally on Silva's clowning, he used a technique as detailed in this article:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1695987-ufc-162-how-chris-weidman-killed-the-king

AS3_crop_exact.png

Silva leans back from the first right straight.
AS4_crop_exact.png

Silva leans back again as Chris Weidman slaps a back-handed second right at him. Silva's head is now well behind his centre of gravity.
AS6_crop_exact.png

Silva has nowhere left to go as the left hook comes in.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

I don't see technique. I see someone taking advantage of an opponent clowning too damn much. If Silva was standing up straight the KO would not have happened.

Yo what was that stream dudes were paying for last time. I can't remember. It was like $10 or something for full HD streaming no hiccups. I'm not trying to play around with choppy firstrow links tonight if I can avoid it.

Re: ►►► OFFICIAL UFC 168 - Sat. Dec. 28th - Las Vegas - Silva / Weidman / Rousey / Ta

does anyone have a link for the fight tonight?

Instead of doing the standard combination Left-Right-Left, Weidman doubled up the right to distract Silva Left-Right-Right, because his eye were focus on the right, therefore he did not see the left coming, usually he would not have been KO, but the way he was fighting that night did not help at all...
