man im really lovin the ufc about now - mir, lesnar, evans, silva, machida and if kos hadnt a lost he'd be in the mix too - i actually dont dislike any of those guys and theyre all hella good fighters

BJ faced GSP at 205 years back and almost won. Explain that. Also Rashad would have lost to Tito had Tito not gotten that point taken away. So both sides have to back it up. I feel you 100% but to say Evans doesn't have to make as big as a jump is a joke. He hasn't faced this kind of style before such as Machida hasn't faced a fighter like Evans before. That is why this could be fight of the year if they both fight like we think they will.

Son. I know what weight that fight was at. DO YOU KNOW THAT BJ PENN FOUGHT AT 155 BEFORE THAT FIGHT? And NOW he fights at 155? He's a 155er who put on a bunch of weight to fight Machida at Machida's natural weight. :smh:

Rashad wouldn't have lost to Tito. Did you see the fight? Tito grabbed the cage multiple times in round 2 preventing Evans' takedowns. We all know takedowns get scored the highest in MMA. Tito would've lost the second round and lost the fight.

Like I said Rashad has faced top 5 fighters before, Machida never has. Rashad has been in main events of PPVs (three of them, not to mentionm 2 or 3 fight nights) and Machida never has. Big jump for Ryu.

This fight is gonna be interesting, but my money is on
Rashad possibly tagging that Machida chin. However, Machida
patience and precision technical skills and with the power,
athletism and speed of Rashad Evans make it an interesting fight.
Might be boring to the casual observer but to me it will be like
physical chess of moves and counter moves.

I'm going with Rashad on this one. I think the only reason he didn't win that Tito fight was b/c he was hesitant for the first round and a half. If you watch the fight again I think you'd agree. I actually think this was his "turn the corner" fight. Rashad realized halfway thru that he could bang with the big boys and he actually whooped Tito's ass that last round and a half.

Machida and Rashad both have the best fighters in the world as partners. Machida w/ Silva and Shad has GSP. Shad has the best overall camp though over there with Jackson. I think Shad will win b/c is condition is going to be a lot better, and his style which allows him to flash in and out without taking alot of punishment while still inflicting damage is going to offset Machida's countering technique...my two cents

And I think Rashad will be game planned to make Machida the aggressor....you gotta BEAT the champ....take Machida out of his comfort zone and make him come after you...then make him pay.

It depends on Machida's patience....I don't they'll give Machida a SPLIT DECISION win for the title...they already think he's boring. I expect Rashad to be VERY laid-back in this fight...trying to make Machida impatient....then BOOM.

He has crazy power- Rashad wont play around with him. Rashad is fast but I am not sure he is faster than Machida or fast enough to negate all of Machida's skills.

Gotta give the edge to Machida. Lifetime in martial arts, crazy athletic skills, crazy mental game, crazy technique = a bad muthafucka.

Rashad has heart, great wrestling, great power, speed and an untested chin. Rashad has a few games in him, wrestling and striking and some combo of those two.
Rashad aint faster than Andersen Silva - that's just one of the dudes Machida trains with.

I haven't seen the Thiago-Machida fight...but I've seen almost all of his UFC fights and "crazy power" was never a thought that jumped out at me...he can knock you down but I think with Machida, it seems to be more of a cumulative thing where you're chasing him and he's constantly hitting you and it wears dudes down. Rashad has an EXCELLENT chin. Chuck got some good shots on him and Rashad shrugged them off...Hoger should've taken his head off with a roundhouse but Rashad was able to regain himself and clinch...and he may not be a good fighter but Brad Imes is a huge, strong guy(ALOT bigger than Rashad) and he hit Rashad ALOT and he never knocked Rashad down...Jardine got good shots on him too and he's the only guy I've ever seen knock Rashad down with strikes.

If Jackson's gameplan is to make Rashad aggressive in this fight...I will be shocked.

I agree. Lyoto is showing a whole new side, an aggressive side, which he will need against Evans. I personally think only Lyoto can beat Rashad Evans. I really believe Evans would knock Rampage out or get a TKO, coz toe to toe Rashad is just too gifted and quick. Whereas as someone else mentioned Lyoto is the King of the strategic distance type fight, when he needs too.
Either way both gifted fighters ans athletes, so the fans like us win either way..followed by a great fight with Rashad and the winner..

The top fighters that Machida has fought were BJ Penn, Tito Ortiz, Rich Franklin, and some dude Hogar. The Hoger dude was the only one who actually lost by a split decision. The others are unanimous decision.

Rashad top past opponents are Chuck Liddell, Michael Bisping, Forrest Griffim, and Chico. He has fought each one well. But Chico gave Evans more of a run for his money. Machida handed Chico his ass to him.
