Greatest NBA Player From 2000 to 2010?

I'll give you the entire top 5

1a) Shaquille O'Neal
1b) Tim Duncan
3) Kevin Garnett
4) LeBron James
5) as much as I hate to say it....Dirk Nowitzki

So these are your Top 5 players of the past decade?

You are delusional :smh:

Based on team performance, and championships won over this decade, I will have to go between Tim Duncan, and KB24.

Even though I am a KB24 fan, I give it to Tim Duncan as his team was more consistent over this decade.

KB24 on the other hand had the keys of the ship from 2004, but did not become a force to really reckon with till 2007/2008.

Tim Duncan for the win

Exactly this is the reason I have duncan number 1 and kobe number 2.

yall niggas are funny im not even a kobe fan and u have to say kobe hands down. he has been the most dominant player in the league since jordan left and between 2000-2011 he has 5 fucking championships no one else on the list is close except shaq and he got most of his rings with kobe.

So these are your Top 5 players of the past decade?

Not mine but the consensus. Check the production. Last I checked, the topic said Top Player, not Top sidekick, Top role player, Top cancer, or most lucky.

You have no credibility in this debate, even with your selection of Tim Duncan, who is 1B in my book. He'd get the nod if he didn't have the luxury of playing 5 on 5 his entire career (something Shaq didn't have all the time in LA)

Kobe had some dominant years over that period which mostly got them knocked out in the first and second rounds of playoffs, or not making the playoffs at all. :smh: Again, I am a Lakers fan keeping it real.

With the rise of Lebron James, Durant, Rose, Wade and these other up and comers. KB24 is not as dominant. Although LBJ fucked his legacy all up by going to the Heat.

Yes Kobe has 5 rings and three of those rings he was the second option and when he was finally the first option one year they missed the playoffs twice they lost to the same team one time after bing up 3-1.

How long did it take for time to win his first ring after he was drafted??

Tim was the man day one and won with two different teams.

One team full of vets and near the end of their career and the other full of young players.

I would love to say KB because duncan actually fucked over the nets twice.

Once in taking the mvp kidd should have won and twice in the finals but being a basketball fan I have to be un biased

Whose consensus? So those are the Top 5 players of the decade? Nah...

And by the way, a "stan" is someone who is an over the top fan of a player, which I am not. If I were stan, I will state that KB24 is the greatest player over the past decade, hands down, which he clearly is not. :smh: You are reaching with the "stan" title.

Man, those dudes are clowns.

They're so filled with hate, than anyone that defends Kobe, MUST be as fanatically in love with him as they fanatically hate them.

In any case, Kobe has not only been dominant, but he's also been one of the leading entertainers over the past decade. How many people can effectively play at a such high level and do it with intentional flair? Also, even Shaq called him a Kobe 'The Duo', and we know they hated each other. No denying Shaq was the first option, but Kobe always had the ball in important situations. It's clear very few people remember how much LA relied on Kobe to break down defenses and get the Lakers spot up shooters involved. That's the first time I heard the word 'facilitator' used to describe a role played on the court. NO ONE ELSE on LA could put the ball on the floor and set-up teammates. Now Shaq was a good passer, and he did hit the spot up shooters - but that couldn't have been overly difficult considering two to three dudes were always trying to prevent him from scoring.

Yes, Shaq was indeed a beast. Kobe was the other half of that, though. Well, 45%...

Funny you mention, 'whose consensus', so I went over and checked:

http://www.basketball-reference.com/friv/ratings.cgi

 :smh:

So the people at bballref have the same opinion (although they rank LeBron 3rd, KG 4th, and Nowitzki 5th)

Anything else you want to try to refute, stan?

You can keep on calling me a stan, I give two fucks.

The website you posted, that is their opinion, and I respectfully disagree. They are ranking players based on some formula created by some professor.

So according to this site, Kobe Bryant is the 6th best active player in the league?

1. Shaquille O'Neal
2. Tim Duncan
3. LeBron James
4. Dirk Nowitzki
5. Kevin Garnett
6. Kobe Bryant

Again, the question asked by the OP was "Greatest NBA Player From 2000 to 2010?"

So in your opinion, KG, Lebron, and Dirk was greater than KB24 over this period?

Gotta go with these two! Shaq fell off hard after 06. Tim started to diminish last yr and Kobe this year! AI had forgettable seasons.

Kobe made all-NBA 1st team & all NBa 1st def team & was all-star game MVP..how did he fall off??

Tim Duncan was so boring he got an astrix. Shaq won Kobe's first three rings, then moved to the right coast and got another. Kobe wasn't winning shit without Phil.

PLUS

Shaq was the only person who cashed his pre-season ring guarantee check in June.

Some of ya'll don't think back too good do ya? :cmonson: once Barkley left the NBA was all fear.

AI? wtf? NBA Finals Game 1 was his only shining moment in the NBA. He was the apple of every hood sistahs eye.... is that....
is that's what you sayN'?..... Ya can't watch basketball with broads bruh.

YO Killa Kadafi191...... It's Sean Elliot. thx for mentioning the last baller outta the TUC! I feel.... I feel honored! Timmy no ring that year without the tippy toe three.

Let's close this out now.... Shaq was the beast who could see straight straight after all. Timmy was a team player. Sure he won without David Robinson, but that astrix is kinda weak. You knew that when it happened. Shaq was hurting grown men's feelings. He was unstoppable. THINK!!!!!
we cut this season short and the Bulls already swept the Heat... would that astrix be good enough?

KOBE 2000-2010 = 7 NBA FINALS APPEARANCES (5 CHAMPIONSHIPS)

TIM DUNCAN 2000-2010 = 3 FINALS APPEARANCES (3 CHAMPIONSHIPS)

I don't see how this is even close. Kobe wins this easily. Best in the decade hands down.

Tim Duncan

Shaq had the keys taken away from him in 2004.

Kobe wasn't allow to drive the car till Shaq was gone.

Timmy was in the drivers seat since day one.

It's kinda hard and unusual to say that almost since the Tim Duncan was drafted his team was in contention of a ring.

Also he won with two different teams.

Then again that still goes to credit the Spurs front office, scouts (damn they have the best scouts in the league) and that hall of fame coach.

Exactly. Dude LED his team to 4 titles. Even though Kobe was on all those teams, he was the leader for 2 titles... and in the 10' Finals....well we know that story. Duncan will never get his just do because of where and how he plays if Tim Duncan played in NY or LA he'd be considered top 5 greatest players ever.

I dont see Shaq as most dominant of that decade because he was already in his 9th year when it started. Cats discount exactly HOW DOMINANT Shaq actually was during that 3 peat run. Kobe has 2 of his "own" championships and he has a bunch of stats but what really gives Kobe the edge is that unlike Shaq and Duncan he remained relevant for the whole decade. These past 3 years Shaq and Tim have been fossils. In terms of overall greatness I put Tim and Shaq over Kobe but as far as 2000-2010 I have no problem with people giving it to Kobe

sighs

one Tim Duncan has been to four finals and won ever single time

neither kobe or shaq has done that.

Duncan was always the main piece on every team.

Kobe wasn't the go to guy for his first 3 chips

How long did it take for Duncan to win a ring since he was drafted.

he won his first chips with players who were said to be too old and done.

mario elie avery johnson sean elliott and his 2003 with young and unproven players

Manu Parker Stephen Jackson should I keep going????

Duncan almost since being drafted has made sure his team has been contending for a ring.

who else can say that

also it doesn't hurt that he was never a problem in the locker room and was very coach-able

Tim Duncan is the Greatest Player from 2000-10.

Again people will look back at the time as when the Greatest Power Forward of All Time played.

In hindsight....

Kevin McHale
Karl Malone
Dennis Rodman
Elvin Hayes .... dude was the power

Tim Duncan really don't stand out like Jordan, Magic, Bird and Jabar at their respective positions.

I'd take the mailman to give Timmy an elbow to the throat to get the understandings correct early on. Tim had a better team, Karl had a legendary point guard and coach, but that's it. Marc Eaton and Greg Ostertag???? Let Karl get David Robinson and Ginobli...... changes the mental picture doesn't it. Duncan was s sweat towl for Karl. There's no way tim got more points and rebounds....

YO - good thing Tinny Timmy didn't get the tounge in the finals. THINK!!!!!

Karl Malone is 2nd all time nba scoring. Man, don't fall into that outta sight outta mind shit.

Basketball is my martial art. Even Yu-Gi-Oh gotta fireball... the jury is out..... TD got astrix and No Jordan in finals.... A-Yo.... check the mail,...... man.....

glance at it... study it.... just learn something about greatness as it's compared to what's in your face now....

Karl Malone____19yrs____36,928 points_____14,967 rebound

Elvin Hays ____16yrs____27,313 points_____16,279rebounds

Tim Duncan ____13yrs____21,663 points_____11,335 rebounds

Men Lie/Women Lie

Numbers don't lie.

Kimmie Timmie gotta enough greatness to stick around and be productive for another 3-6 years?

Did you know Malone was a two-time MVP? Ever see anyone take a charge when the mailman had a rush delivery??? Nah... no one that brave. The jumper was silk his shoulders were closet shelves. soon we'll be forgotten too, one day another legacy shall rise.

Timmy: do something fun in ya life, ya career was like watching a boring swimming... damn a swimmer Michael Phelps had more spunk than a baller.... yawn.

Timmy...Kobe and Shaq...Shit even Wade too...and Dirk...what about Steve nash.,,

Seven years of LeBron beats ten years of Nash.

I'd vote Kobe, shaq, then Duncan. Really considered putting Duncan before Shaq and I'd have to check the 07-10 stats to be sure.

If you overstand what your saying....

you'll have no problem in seeing truth.

Steve Kerr ________15yrs____5 Rings
Charles Barkley____16yrs____0 RIngs

Kobe tried, tried, tried...... now he talking about when he didn't practice the team didn't work hard..... for fucks sake.

The Lakers stay bomb for the last 23yrs. Did Gasol help? Did Artest help? Did phil Jackson help?

Shaq won instantly upon being traded. He turned into a journey man. Shaq was laying dudes out, while he was on offense going to the line for the infraction.
Now....
Kobe 5 rings last decade
Shaq 4 rings last decade

the question is..... who was greater?

Going against Shaq is futile. Who you think got Kobe so open when they played together. Shaq's rebounds and blocked shots alone were the major impact. "Shoot it till ya make it Kobe, I'll get the rebound and pass it back to ya!" - my rendition of Shaq.

After this year.... all of s sudden Rose gonna be the best PG ever.... cuz it's the last thing you saw.

Damn, man. :(

I can't give up on watching Kobe yet. This picture reminded me so much of what has consumed the guy, and even though he is likely to fall short, I've watched the guy make one hell of an attempt to knock MJ off of his throne.

People can clown all the fuck they want, but have no idea of how great you have to be to even be put in the same SENTENCE as some ol' mutant ass nigga like Mike.

Fuck it, man.

I do have issues with Kobe, but I'll roll with him 'til he can't do it anymore. Hell, it's not like I've stopped posting in basketball related threads and frequenting Lakers forums, anyway.

Funny how it was so obvious that Kobe aimed at Mike. It's pretty much the reason he failed. Kobe didn't make anyone better. ya Hear that????? Mike made everyone better. I'm talking about the world. The Pope, Michael Jackson, Michael Jordan. we are the world better. kobe too. you too. me too. Jordan lucked up and got losses to the Bad Boy and Boston in several playoffs. Talk about fuel. Mike squared with Dominique Wilkins, Karl Malone, Magic Johnson... Bryant shoulda went to school, maybe Kansas or Kentucky or UNC even University of Arizona. He'd a got a better feel for how to play the game, and he could have saved alot of energy. Mike was so humble trying to save his legs for the last lap. SMART! Kobe didn't experience the Golden Years, He can only get as good as the competition he faced. Kobe is the best NBA son ever and he's a darlin for that, but his ego hurt him legacy wise. He shoulda listened to Phil in the beggining, it was his only chance to Thor the mallet from the stone.

Shaq - reigning player of the decade. From every angle.

Its funny how numbers apply to EVERYBODY else but Kobe?!?!?! When it's him, shit doesn't matter huh? Also, how many Chips have they won without each other? And the same argument about Kobe needing a Big Man can be made for Shaq needing a great player with him too!!!! And as far as the bullshit pulling Steve Kerr into it... GTFOH with that bullshit.... Kerr was never the feature player OR second or third option! He had a role, but using him in this argument is weak as Fuck!!!! C'mon Son... You have GOT to come better than that bullshit there... :smh:

didn't really get much of that but Karl Malone Bill Russell Chuck and other PF and C have called Tim Duncan the greatest pf of all time.

Also I notice you have shaq no offense but Shaq I can't go with because Shaq last year with the Heat showed a decline and the Suns one year didn't even make the playoffs.

remember we are doing from

Karl Malone played for 19 years and no rings?? Also Tim has two mvps as well. He was also able to win with two different spurs team.

Again I'm gonna go with the mail man and say tim duncan is and will be known as the best pf of all time.
