Nets got Deron Williams

Nets need to start putting the pieces together for Dwight Howard.

Look at the team the Magic put around Dwight - they'e pretty much stuck tll the 2014 season.

The Nets played this well. I'll give them props. They fucked with the Carmelo trade only to pull off a great trade themselves.

I like the Nets owner even if D Will bounces after next year. That shows other free agents that dude wants to be a winner. He went hard for Lebron and Melo. Then he got D Will. I think Deron is happy to be in New Jersey over Utah. He may stay after all. They'll be in Brooklyn, and they may also land Dwight Howard. Only if they can keep Deron. I like the move he's trying to turn around that franchise.

Cuban was the same way...shit never materialized into marquee signings. The best players we've had (since he bought the team), we got through trades. A great owner doesn't translate to getting great FAs.

Wasn't cp3 part of the toast oh check out twitter deron is upset because his wife is pregnant and he is concern about her traveling.

Be honest Deron is about to be treated like the shit

we probably r gonna get paul but i wouldn't doubt deron...

i know i know the nets made a move they got pieces but until they show consistency they r still the nets even when they made it to the finals they were still the nets. its hard to change ur image but the nets r gonna have do that in 1.5 seasons to secure williams... i don't have faith in avery or billy king to do that

...the nets should ignore howard and go after aldrige in portland since portland might be on a fire sale with roy's knee's pretty much gone...orlando isn't trading dwight in conference.

deron's deal is up b4 the bk move so he's gonna have to factor playing in an empty stadium which isn't fair to the nets but it'll be his reality, and playing for avery could send him running...

i'm not counting any pg out until deron signs his extension in july if he doesn't it'll be interesting.

we'll see... should b exciting anyway

i don't think paul was dissing the nets, he was laughing at utah tho...

yea Deron is pissed at Utah this is jason kidd all over again.

DA just said the Nets are talking to Bobcats for Gerald Wallace but Portland is pulling out all stops to get him.

Plus Memphis and New Orleans.

Seeing if they can get Denver to let go of NJ native JR Smith but the Bulls are after him if they can't get Courtney Lee

best trade deadline ever,,,,,,,,

Thinking about it more, I don't think Proky had some mastermind plan at all.

He's been whoring for Melo all season long. It was Harris, Favors, three picks cash and other players.

I think what happened is that after they struck out on Melo Utah called the Nets and offered Williams.

Utah is going into rebuilding mode which makes sense because they didn't want to do shit with Kirilenko's expiring contract and let Boozer walk easily rather than take on more salary. They let Matthews walk also.

They figured if the Nets were giving up Harris, who's a good point guard who motivated and a very high pick who's a project along with draft picks they may as well save themselves the trouble of being in the same position the Nuggets were in this season.

The writing was on the wall. They had two options with Williams, trade him next season with another "Melo Saga", or let him walk for nothing at the end of next season.

Instead they took it into their own hands, while Williams has no leverage.

The Jazz capitalized.

Also I don't get why people think the Knicks really overpaid for Melo. If anything they ended up getting him for exactly what you pay for a superstar talent. I seriously don't get how Danilo Gallinari and Wilson Chandler are overpaying, when you realize that Raymond Felton was a temporary solution at point.

yeah the thinking from Utah had to be that they trade Williams fast before he could start threatening to not resign with certain teams like Melo did. they did get a pretty good set of players + picks so it wasn't crazy looking at it that way.

And they got Corey Brewer. Who when he's playing well he's a good defender.

The Knicks did well. Also what people aren't realizing is that Gallo would have been gone in 2012 also. The options for the knicks if they kept Gallo was - overpay Gallo in 2012 to come off the bench, or use him as trade bait.

It was planned by the Nets

Johnson was asked if this was the Plan B all along if the Nets couldn't acquire Anthony.

"This is not a Plan B," Johnson said. "It was just one that wasn't announced. One that nobody got -- until recently. He's not a Plan B. He's a Plan A also. We've been working on this for a while."

The New Jersey Nets insider tweeted this morning after he broke the story that Nets have been sitting on this for a week.

That reports were true that the Nets called back Denver to raise the price on Melo.

People say that the Knicks overpaid because Walsh and Mike D didn't want to gut their team for a player who in their mind could be had during the summer or for less.

Yet for someone reason people felt he was going to sign with the Nets or back with Denver.

Earlier I detailed the New York Knicks’ chances of landing another superstar in 2012. The short version? Not likely. The Knicks are unlikely to have the salary cap space or the assets to land someone like Chris Paul or Deron Williams in the summer of 2012.

Now that the New Jersey Nets have acquired Deron Williams, what is their cap situation? Will they have space either this summer or in the summer of 2012 to land a superstar?

Their best shot at making another splash appears to be during this coming offseason. As of now, the Nets are expected to have $39 million in salaries committed to seven players this offseason -- add in cap holds and the number moves up to a little over $41 million. If the cap were to stay the same, the Nets would have roughly $17 million in space to spend unless they could figure out a way to get players like Travis Outlaw, Johan Petro, Jordan Farmar and Anthony Morrow off their books earlier.

No one, however, thinks the cap will stay the same. The current collective bargaining agreement expires on June 30, a day before free agency begins. Owners are pushing for a much more restrictive CBA that will likely lower the cap in 2011, giving the Nets less to work with.

But the Nets should have options. The bigger problem might be a relatively weak 2011 free agent class. Their top target could be a player like David West (if he doesn't sign an extension with New Orleans).

Of course the Nets could use their cap space to try to land another star or to help facilitate trades. As the Oklahoma City Thunder and other teams have proven, cap space can be valuable, even when not used to acquire stars.

If the Nets wait until 2012, their cap flexibility will decline. Brook Lopez will be a restricted free agent in 2012 and will have a cap hold of nearly $10 million dollars. That will increase NJ's payroll to around $50 million, putting them pretty far away being able to sign another star to a maximum contract.

the thing the Nets still have all those pick which as DA said will make players like Petro Morrow and others more attractive.

I can see the Nets adding one player during the summer like a Jeff Green who is upset the Thunder did not resign him.

I see him more of a Lamar Odom type player.

DA mention something. The Nets could do the same thing next year.

If Orlando believes that Dwight is as good as gone. They could do what the Jazz did.

what looks more appealing Lopez or Bynum who has yet to prove he can be healthy. while lopez has yet to miss a game in his career. plus the picks.

Deron Williams is a risk but played right the Nets can come out lovely with this one

Can I get my Job back ?

Yep, that was a come up. I think he will stay in NJ also, with the right moves.

This is Jason Kidd all over again.

As ecstatic as Marbury sounded last night, Kidd, 28, had the opposite reaction in Phoenix. His wife, Joumana, blasted the Suns owner Jerry Colangelo on her Phoenix radio show, ''The Positive Side of Sports,'' for not telling Kidd before he found out through the news media.

''He was taken aback by the way everything happened,'' Colangelo said. ''He was a little emotional, but after talking to him for a while, I thanked him for everything he did for us.

''Marbury is tremendous. I think he is one of the top guys in the league. With him and Shawn Marion, we have a couple of young 24-year-olds who really know how to play the game.''

Nets Coach Byron Scott said bringing Kidd to New Jersey will immediately improve the team. ''It was something I was in favor of,'' he said. ''I think it makes us better in a couple of areas, defensively and rebounding and really pushing the ball. Jason Kidd is the best point guard in the league for grabbing a rebound and going 94 feet with anybody. That's the style we've been wanting to play since Day 1.''

Kidd let everyone know that Jersey was just going to be a pit stop. before he head to the spurs. I can see Deron staying

corey brewer?

who?

i haven't heard that name since 2007 championship game.

foh
You stay on Knicks shit dude.

The point is the Knicks didn't give up the farm.

Why you keep posting about Knicks shit. You're worse than Beatdownrecords and Beeiii.

Because at least when they go at one another their teams are peers.

You swear the Bulls are so far ahead of the Knicks, but you keep firing shots - like you're worried about something lol.

All you do is snicks snicks snicks Jordan six rings snicks snicks 90s snicks Jordan snicks.

Shit is lame kid.

The only risk with deron is if he'll stay.

But if the Nets make the right moves they can keep him.

As it is now, the Knicks got a top three point guard, who's number 1, 2 or 3 depending on who you like.

Like scoring, then it's rose
like more of a pure point then it's paul
like a balanced scorer and playmaker then it's Deron.

i love how espn is saying we don't have cap room in 2012 yet our gm is saying yeah we do... unless espn has seen our books and know our plans i find their shit hilarious.
