i got close to pulling the trigger and then pussied out.

Man I'm going to pull the trigger sometime in 2011, I can't stand wearing contacts anymore. The people I know who got Lasik done says the money is well spent.

Best $10 EVER /thread.

LordSinister helped me install my DVD burner at 5AM (of course he is PST, so it was 1AM), telling me step for step including how to take the back off of my Dell

Tons of music I haven't heard in years including CDs that were stolen from me I got back because of this site.

dadirtydj found Babyface's rare Whip Appeal remix (The Ultimate Whip) that I searched for and could not find. I heard it one time on the radio back in 1990 or so and he found it in a day.

Tons of computer errors have been fixed saving me $300 a pop at Geeksquad.

Tons of porn.

Info before it hit the streets. Michael Jackson dying wasn't even on CNN or Yahoo yet before it was posted on here.

Shit, today when my DirecTv went out because of the weather El Pirate Del Caribe put me on to watching games and live TV from my laptop

$10, Nuff Said /Thread.
 no problem.

My house. Bought when the market was imploding and got it for $120k less than the original asking price. Now with my recent refi, the monthly mortgage is cheaper than rent on a nice 2 bedroom.

And I can easily sell it for a profit right now if I had to.

-CTF

Gotta agree with you on that. I got my house for $160K which was $10K less than the asking price and at least $40K less than the comps. Shit, went on zillow.com and saw the value of my house at $200K, after the refi only 9 months after I bought it I'm sitting at a 4.25 rate. I didn't make out as good as you, but I'm fine. You got a steal.

What's the price like, now? I hate wearing glasses, and because of astigmatism (my eyes are shaped like footballs one doc said) I can't wear contacts. I would love to ditch my glasses for good. Go to sleep in them and the nose things get screwed up and they never sit right without you having to go back to the vision place to fix it. If I can spare it I will have it by 2012.

Good shit

My fiance and I bought a short sale home, 4 BR, 2 baths in Florida last December for $52,000 (really 58K but she got the government rebate). In February it was assessed at $167,000. Homes in the same neighborhood are going for 250K and up.....We're finally moving this Thursday.:dance::dance:

It is. I got it done over 2 years ago and I love it. The only thing I can liken it to is seeing HDTV or Blu-Ray for the first time after looking at standard-definition. It took me a couple of years to get up the nerve to do it because of general fear of the surgery and websites like lasikflap, but I finally took the plunge. Just look at Tiger Woods. He got it done in 1999 and started getting mad pussy after that!

My 1997 Ford Explorer. I bought in 2000 for 12k, paid it off in 03 and been driving for free ever since. The only thing I've changed on it is the fuel filter and oil. It's sittin on 189,000 miles now. I almost let cash for clunkers get me, but it's just hard to go back to 2 car payments when I've had 1 for so many years.

Yeah,I will agree with the WD media player, and of course a BGOL membership,but....

I really caught lightning in a bottle with my home purchase back in 2000.

The market had caught fire in my Boston neighborhood,so in 5 years we sold our home there for more than 3x what we paid for it.

With that,we were able to buy our present home in an area that was not on fire, yet. Also the house was on the market because of a messy divorce...so we got it for below market value.

All in all it was a steal....
Which at the closing, the very angry wife accused us of...it was a very strange closing.

Even in this down time, houses in our area, half the size of mine are costing more.

Our running joke is,if we were trying to buy this house today,we could not afford it.

1) Undergraduate education: The gift that keeps on giving. It is the quintessential fuel to my life's options.
(planning to go for my executive MBA next fall)

2) Lasik eye surgery: If you have bad vision, and you're a good candidate and havent considered having this operation, you are an idiot!

I have astigmatism as well and was able to get it done. Just check out a reputable Lasik center in your area and they will usually give you a free 90-minute exam that will let you know if you qualify for the surgery or not. Check to see if there is a TLC Laser Vision center where you are. That's who performed the surgery on me and it is where Tiger Woods had his done (in Rockville, MD).

The prices vary, it all depends on how bad/good your vision is (from what I hear). I know it's getting cheaper though because of competitors. If you have it, check with your vision insurance with your job, mine said they would cover 15%.

What he said, congrats. Nothing like a multiple bathroom home. Shit, that is one of the things that sold me on this one. I remember watching the Cosby Show and Cliff and Claire had their own bathroom. You never saw it, but they didn't have to share with the kids. I got the same set up and it is priceless. I don't have to deal with dirty showers/tubs and toothpaste stains.

I wonder if Blue Cross/Blue Shield will cover it? Open season closes tomorrow, I'll check. Thanks.

See? That's that $10 at work again.

off the bat, i would have to say the $350.00 i spent for my dog.

he is the smartest and most loyal dog i've ever had and he Never has given me trouble!

also, back in the nineties, i bought a ford festiva, 5 speed for $500.00 that looked like new and ran flawlessly for about 5 years! the car wasn't a chick magnet :smh: and yall can laugh all you want, but transportation wise was some of the best money i've ever spent!

i got more later.

what yall got?

Ford_Festiva_imgw384.jpg

1. Motorola Droid (purchased in December 2009): I use that phone for damn near EVERYTHING and more than a year later, the newest Android smartphones are only MARGINALLY better. I've played around with the EVO and the ONLY think I like better is the bigger screen.

2. College I went to a State school with a very low tuition and I basically went for free on a scholarship and I ended up getting a well-paying, stable job. And I'm still pursuing my own shit on the side.

3. BGOL I've downloaded porn (more than I care to admit), music, movies, gotten great advice, tips, had great conversation on contemporary topics and thought provoking issues, etc. BGOL, by far, represents the greatest ROI of any investment I've ever made.

4. Megaupload subscription I've only paid for a subscription twice ($10 for one month) but it was well worth it both times.

5. Sirius satellite radio Howard Stern, sports, comedy, and it has opened my eyes to so much wonderful music that I never would have otherwise gotten into...I'm talking about music that has literally changed my life.

6. My netbook As a writer, I would say that a netbook is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL and I couldn't even imagine living without one now that I have one. I can literally work from ANYWHERE with this puppy and it does everything that a laptop or a desktop can do (except it doesn't have a disk drive or DVD drive).

7. Artwork For me, a house just aint a home without artwork. NO MATTER THE COST, it was well worth it b/c being in a house filled with dope ass artwork gives me a sense of satisfaction that you just can't put a price on.

Allen Edmonds, no doubt.

Bruh, where do you go in the DMV for your custom suits? I need a new (local) provider.

allen edmonds dress shoes. when they get messed up, send them back to allen edmonds and they'll recondition and resole them for a very reasonable price. comfortable stylish shoes make the difference.

custom shirts and suits. you feel different when you have on some custom clothing. you walk a little taller. you feel better about yourself and people notice. you want to catch a fly chick? get that job you always wanted? start with a custom suit and shirt and let the chips fall...

back in 07 I won an essay contest that got me 5000 bucks. Had just got a degree in a bull shit field that I could not use and if I really wanted to use it, would have been making 13 bucks an hour for the next few years. Instead of buying some dumb shit I used that money to pay for 2 of my 3 semesters to go back to school for nursing. Now I make very good money and have cash in the bank and can pay my bills and travel when I want. Best investment my used to be broke ass ever made.
