Machida's fighting style is starting to work against him. I would love to see a rematch, but don't have as the main event, make it a co-main event. If the rematch happens Machida needs to come out like Shogun did in their rematch. I think Rampage didn't think Machida had some power in his punches

One thing I envy about Matt Hughes that muthafucka looks like he could give a shit either way. Its strickly a job for him.

It was funny that Rampage was shocked. Fighting is funny like that when you are out there you think you are doing shitty, but you actually are doing pretty good.

Rampage's reaction shocked the hell out of me since he won the first two rounds. Rampage is having confidence issues, but that doesn't change the fact he won the first two rounds. As someone else said, Rampage pushed the entire fight and landed more strikes than Machida the first two rounds. They both got takedowns.

For someone who allegedly did more damage, Rampage looked really unphased by anything Machida was doing those first 2 rounds.

I'm really shocked some of you are in disbelief with the Rampage/Machida decision.

'Page is a gate keeper status IMO no way is he ready for Shogun....

I love 'Page but Shogun will crush him....

he was struggling checking legs kicks tonight...Shogun has the best leg kicks other than Alves...

next that style of just Boxing is not going to cut it anymore....

and his reaction at the ending was not a good look...

but a win is a win...hopefully he tries to get better....

The main event really isn't as bad as some of you are making it out to be. Rampage showed he could go the distance without gasing at this stage in his career against a tough opponent. He looked much better here than he did going against Rashad. If THIS Rampage fought Rashad a few months ago...who knows.

Rampage is going to have to get leg kick checks embedded into his muscle memory if he is going to beat shogun.

Round 1 & 2 to Rampage, 3 to Machida. Machida stunned Rampage in the 3rd, but got stunned himself before taking Rampage down. NO serious damage was done on the ground and Ramapge escaped an armbar by lifting a 205+ pound man up like bowling ball -- impressive. Machida then got back on his bike. The judges scores were fair. And, no, I don't want to see a rematch of this shit. Neither fighter will beat Shogun Rua, right now, anyway. Dana White is a thief. :hmm:

Yeah, you could be right about that. He still won the fight. This should not be ranked with likes of Machida vs Shogun 1.

He was shocked because the fight was so close and he got dominated in the 3rd round. And I agree. Machida did put damage on Rampage. Probably even more than he did to Machida. But Rampage still won those first 2 rounds. He was better at fighting his style than Machida was at fighting his style in the 1st two rounds. If Machida would've fought as aggressive as he was in that 3rd round any of the prior rounds he would've won this fight convincingly

Same here. I'm watching and like damn why is Rampage so surprised? Even if he felt he lost that's usually not something a fighter does. Its probably him humbling himself and living up to the cameras if anything. I guarantee after Rampage watches this fight he won't be shocked at the decision. I think in his head he thought he lost this fight after being dominated in that 3rd round.

I give Rampage credit. When he was on the ground I thought that shit was game over in the 3rd. When he was lying on his back I was for sure he was gonna be put in submission and Machida did everything in his power to do it but just couldn't.

but
I really feel Machida did more in the fight than rampage

not only was rampage shocked he won
he also said "Machida kicked my ass"
he also said Machida deserves a rematch right away.
come on man.
Rampage clearly felt he lost and I agree with him.

if anything Machida won on points
he mixed it up more
threw punches and kicks moving in and out.

I guess the Judges saw how rampage cut off the ring and gave him the victory off that.

Rampage was being overly humble. Him getting his ass kicked is limited to the 3rd round. Rewatch the first two rounds. Rampage did more in those rounds in terms of connecting with strikes, AND was the consistent aggressor. This isn't about brotherhood, it's about who won the fight. Rampage won the fight, but I guess you were one of the many on here who counted Rampage out before the fight even began. You should see the other thread that popped up yesterday. 95% were saying Rampage has no chance unless he gets a "lucky" knockout (aka punchers chance) :rolleyes: He looked alot better than that in this fight and it paid off.

I'd also like to add in reference to my last reply that even on points Rampage won this fight the first two rounds. It's only the last round he lost.

Here I'll throw you guys a bone. Machida's dominance in the 3rd round was more impressive than Rampage's pushing the action and getting more strikes in the first two rounds. That's still 2 rounds to 1 for Rampage.

Me too!!! But, it was overall a good fight. I wonder how Machida will fair against someone who stays completely on the outside like himself.

Listened to him on Bruce Buffer's IT'S TIME podast from earlier this week, and he noted he's 31yo right now, and wants to see where the next 4 - 5 years take him. Like Hughes, he said once you're in the game ... you're in it for the long haul. Hughes being 37 right now ... and both of them still having that hunger for the sport/competition. Gonna see (Penn) where the next handful of years take him ...
