South Africa, which is no Ivory Coast, outplayed Brazil, as did Egypt...This game is about the midfield..Before Kaka and Fabiano can do anything, the Brazilian midfield will have to beat the Ivory Coast midfield. If Pienaar and Benard Parker can outplay the Brazilian midfield like that, tell me how they will stop Kolo Toure, Yaya Toure, Kalou, Emmanuel Eboue etc...Portugal's Ronaldo was stopped in midfield, not in the backline.. If you let that man get loose on the backline, you are gonna pay a price, as Ivory Coast almost did when he cracked the upright. Also, keep in mind that Drogba will play the whole Brazil game. Brazil like to shorten the midfield by bringing up their backline and attacking from it. This has been their suicide against France. France with those Africans it has fielded since 1982, has had the speed to punish Brazil.. and hence the Brazil's record of 0 for... since that day...If Brazil want to make the game a footrace between Juan/ Lucio vs Drogba, let them go ahead; they are about to learn why Drogba makes defenders in the premiership shake...

They have good players throughout their lineup, people who can score.. do not be fooled. The issue is always about the quality of service from mindfield. Eto'o is one of the best strikers in the world, but did not have a single shot on goal because of his terrible midfield, in a game against the great defence of Japan at that.
Ivory Coast has a tremendous midfield with Yaya, kolo, Eboue, Kalou etc... this is the thing that choked Portugal, and it is the thing that is gonna make Brazil sweat. Brazil's midfield is suspect. I have been saying this for a long long long time...They were beaten by the Paraguay team I saw play Italy yesterday which has a good but not great midfield.

Mexico did overrun South Africa in the first half.. The thing that saved South Africa is that Carlos Alberto Perreira understands that Brazilian system well and knows that it has a weakness for runs down its middle because of how high the backline is played. That is how Tshabalala scored.. one quick pass down the middle and he was behind the defence. It is how South Africa almost scored again... I say Brazil, you want Lucio and Juan to stop Drogba when he makes a run for a free ball in a sprint from the center circle, huh?
Just checked and thats on the sched. Plus I doubt they want to start the 2nd round of games on the same day as the end of the 1st round.

France is going to be exposed, but not by any of its two remaining opponents. They are tailor made for it being poor clones of Brazil. France will clamp down the midfield of Mexico and stop those stupid little passes to nowhere. They will then run the ball right down the pipe and see if Rafa Marquez can stop Henry in a footrace to the goal... They will do the same thing to South Africa...
