... We in America don't appreciate this game like the rest of the world does. I can get in to it when it's on a big stage like this. We'll see how far the US gets, but other than that I want to see how the African nations do...

They controlled the midfield for large periods of the match...

The Ivorians better not let me down...
Very well taken penalty especially considering the stage...
It is good to see that the African teams have come out very well organized and prepared to compete...Also, full marks to the Ghanaian support for actually showing up and being a presence...I was so disappointed yesterday that the NIgerian support was so weak...

The South African fans are acting confused behaving like world fans rather than African fans... It is their duty to come out in force supporting all the black teams, especially the African ones. And they need to get rid of those stupid Vuvuzelas and start playing drums...

Is Drogba healthy?
He claims that he's gonna give it a go. I don't see it.

I agree. He is big and physical and allows others to play off his holding the ball up. I don't see how he can do that with an injury like this. Also, he is dominant in the air (in both boxes) and I cant see him flying around like normal with a broken arm...![]()

Watch Ghana's coach...I like his style on this...its one game in the group. Act like you expected to win.![]()
Yeah I saw that too.^^^ This.
It was cool to see Ghana get the win. I look forward to watching more games today and beyond. The World Cup is exciting, even for someone like me who isn't really in to soccer (football) that much. I like this event, and the occasional Premier League games I catch as well. I can't fuck with MLS at all though...... We in America don't appreciate this game like the rest of the world does. This game is about the midfield. The reason is simple, the area around the 18 is like your living room. If you allow the fight to take place there, any time there is a missed kick, it could end up on your son or wife's face, or in your plasma tv.. And the kick need not necessarily be by your opponent.. Your opponent has the same realisation and that is why both of you try to keep the ball out of your respective 18s. That leaves the ball being played in the middle of the field. The midfield which is able to advance the ball to other's 18 while keeping it from its own 18, usually facilitates a win for its team.,
The midfield is the most important part of the game. A good midfield can provide a mediocre striker with enough opportunities for him to soon score. A good mid field can make a bad back 4 look good by limiting its exposure..
A team with a good midfield will be avoid relegation to a lower league
A team with a good midfield and defence (back 4+ goalie) will contend and probably gain promotion
A team with a good midfield, a good defence and good striker is a championship contender...

Hoping for a draw between Australia and Germany/
i hope one of them loose that way ghana will have more chance
If a team has to lose, I'd rather it be Germany. But a draw would benefit us more in terms of finishing top.
C/S all the above, especially the bold, I still can't believe I've been waking up at 4:30am to watch soccer but this WC has got me almost excited as I get for the Olympics.
Ok, that makes a lot of sense. That's the kind of stuff I'll need to start understanding as I watch more soccer.
Don't need to be a football fan to understand these vids.![]()
Yeah, that is strange to me since the host country fans usually pull for the underdogs and the African teams are the underdogs in most of the matches. Also, can someone help me understand why the stadiums aren't rocking/swaying like they are during African cup of nations or they have been during other world cups (korea/japan)? I was expecting the atmosphere to be almost hostile for non african teams and instead it has been lacking. The Korean support LITERALLY intimidated/willed them into the semis in 2002...![]()
if they play draw it will be hard for everybody because then both aus and ger will have 1 point. that means if ghana loses the next match against aus they will have 4 points and if Germany wins they will also have 4 points and ghana will have 3 points. and the last match is against germany there is no guarantee that we will win that and if we play draw then germany will have 5 points. then we have to depend on aus because if they loose then we will have equal points but then they are going to chek the goals scored by both teams. and i dont see ghana scoring match goals this wc. but if aus wins then they will have 7 points then we out.
thats they way i look at it
Ghana will beat Australia by a comfortable Margin. If they lost they would need a draw against the Nazi to proceed.
