Selling aluminum house panels (siding)...

Door to door....

In Oklahoma....

Mind you I am not a small man and being black sure didn't help...

In the two months I humped that shit job I had the policed called on my 5 times and had a old white woman answer the door with a shotgun. That was my last day.:hmm:

My intro to the world of construction.:D

I worked for A&L Sewers... :smh::smh::smh::smh:
Cleaning Cess Pools and Rejector Tanks... :puke::puke::puke::puke:
You know... It may sound crazy... BUT... There is SOMETHING WORSE THAN SHIT!!!... AND THAT'S GREASE FROM A SHIT TANK... :puke::puke::puke:

I was desperate... EVICTION DESPERATE... and got a job at A&L... and when you're the 'new' guy, you had to clean the FIRST tank of the day... We went to a place called HEBREW HOUSE which is a basically a Jewish old folks home... Just imagine being in a room the size of a classroom... up to your chest in SHIT WATER with floating turds and tampoons and your job is to scrape 6" of the most PUTRID SUBSTANCE KNOWN on GOD'S GREEN EARTH off the walls of this room... Then, while in the tank, you gotta BREAK THAT GREASE UP, so it can get SUCKED up this hose that you have connected to your truck. And GOD FORBID YOUR TRUCK IS FULL... :smh

That was THE WORST JOB... EVER... :smh:
I actually CRIED on payday... because I never thought my life come down to this... CLEANING SHIT FOR A LIVIING... :smh::smh::smh:...:lol::lol::lol:

You know... you learn a lot about yourself when your back is up against a wall...:yes::yes::yes:

Whenever I have a bad day at work I go read this shit.

Damn all that:eek::smh:

How much did u make?

I worked for a cleaning company that cleaned an old movie theater. FOR ONE DAY. There were parts of the theater that was so dirty that nobody even bothered to clean it. Dude I worked with said to just leave that there:eek:. Nastiest shit I ever saw. Rats and roaches everywhere.

Always go to clean or new movie theaters because when the lights go out...you can't see what's running around on the floor.

The worst job I ever had was back in 2007. At the time, I was doing my student teaching. But since you don't get paid for that, I worked as a janitor during the night at Washington University. I fucking hated cleaning those nasty as restrooms in the library.

After I got done with all my cleaning, I would sometimes log onto one of the library's computers. One of the lead janitors caught me surfing on BGOL and I got fired. I didn't even care and was actually glad...I just filed for my unemployment and lived off that while I'll finished up the semester.

UPS

Modern day cotton fields.

Worked there while in college.

Tons of black men working hard as they ever did. Handful of white guys tellin' em to, "work harder... or we'll make it worse."

After leaving that hell hole got straight A's.

hell yea... two words, UPS loader.:hmm: back in '99 $8.50hr for FOUR hours...which felt like 8:smh:

Worst job ever:

Working at a call center for a major telecommunications company :smh:
  1. Back to back phone calls. Anywhere between 30 to 70 calls daily
  2. Managers expect you to make unrealistic sale goals. Expect you to sell products and services to customers already mad at the company or something on their bill.
  3. Very strict schedule one had to follow. Better not be late from break, lunch, or late to work.
  4. To top it off I worked there full time while taking a full course load in college. Trust, I felt fucking bonkers dealing with all that shit.
  5. Worked there for 5+ years :smh:

I will only work a call center type of job as a last resort. It was pure hell!!!

Waaaay back in the day, it would have to be telemarketing. I was like...

Thank you for choosing AT&T. How can I make this a wonderful experience for you today....

Haven't really had any horrible jobs ... just a few that were hard work.

NEWSPAPER DELIVERY (2 routes / 175 papers) = ages 11 - 17. Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

FREELANCE YARDWORK/LANDSCAPING - Fucking best job. I picked my own hours. Kept it people in the neighborhood as my clients ... and worked straight cash under the table. Nothing like being ages 14 - 20 (in the 90s) doing a bit of PT work on the side for $15 - 20 straight cash an hour. If I were more of a hustler ... I would have tried to gather as many clients as possible and made hella cash, but I kept it low-key and handed out my business card occasionally (but focused more on college/shootin' hoops).

SHOPPERS DRUG MART - Ages 15 - 17 - Some PT work there while in high school. Stock clerk and delivery person (after 5pm I'd gather the prescriptions/deliverable items and then walk/run or drive to the seniors' homes and senior living care places in the neighborhood for people who were shut in. Good times ... everyone was nice.

MENTAL HEALTH CARE - Ages 23/24 - 30 (present) ... working for a few organizations and unions ... good collection of coworkers and enjoyable work ... no complaints. Relaxed setting. Members are mostly ages 50 - 74, and some oncall work I do on the side they're in the 25 - 60yo range. I plan on staying in this field for many, many years. Pays good enough, work is stable, and the benefits are fine.

investment banking in NYC during 05-07. worst fucking stint ever. so glad i moved on to private equity. those extra 20 hours a week mean a lot in terms of stress.

rubber plant with a union, the most lazy and spoiled as people that i've ever seen and management is scared of them because of the work stoppage. extremely stressful

Wow this is a crazy thread, I was going to come in and complain about my job but after reading you guys :smh:

I've had a freakin blessed life

My worst job by far was between my 2nd and 3rd yr of college when I was home during the summer and picked up a quick cabinet warehouse job moving new Cabinets to new home developments.

This was during the real estate boom too. Basically me and another guy would just deliver cabinets to new developments being built. What makes this job so bad you ask? Trying carrying 100 pound plus, 200 pound plus real wood, marble and granite cabinets and tops over sand. Thing was usually when when we delivered the cabinets the roads werent paved yet so we couldn't use a DOLLY! Imagine carrying an awkward ass cabinet on a beach! Shit was miserable.

Most of the time we couldn't park the truck close to the building because it's was so much construction BS on the ground still that we usually ended up carrying shit at least 40 to 50 yards a pop and it probably took at least 5 to 6 trips for each kitchen and we easily had 10 - 15 houses per development at a time!!

All for 6 dollars an hr in the hot ass Florida weather.

Only good thing was that I was ripped as hell bout time school started. Most ripped I ever been in my life. My forearms and calves were a beast!

TECH SUPPORT/CUSTOMER SERVICE
I swear I was praying every day they would come fire me. Some of the sly shit that would come out of a customers mouth on the other end of the phone would drive me crazy. And it killed me how 25 year old mutha fuckas don't know what the fuck a browser is. NEVER AGAIN!!:angry:

What's fucked up is I just got offered a Tech support/customer service job.:lol::lol:

I was in the Military most of my adult life but I will tell you the very worst job I had in there. I was in Saudi Arabia during desert storm. We had these wooden outhouses with cut barrels underneath catching all the human waste. When they got full someone had to go under there, pull that shit out, and burn it.They made a roster and my name came up. Oh the smell and misery. Even with a mask on rag over your face couldn't stop the smell. Shit smelled worst than death. You had to monitor that shit while it burned and put the barrel back. Fucking sand flying everywhere, smoke from the fire, and monster sweat from the hot sun.How I hated that shit.:smh::smh:

Oh yeah, I forgot. I had an extra job after work in Germany. It was cleaning buildings and offices. Talking about filthy. It's amazing how nasty people can really be, especially officers. I did that shit for like a month and said fuck it when they wanted us to clean shit off a bathroom wall. Some assholes had spreaded shit all over the fucking wall and pissed all over the mirrors and shit.

I was 15 working at SUBWAY. I work just enough to get the sega dreamcast 9-9-99

My first and only check was for $245...

Graduated in December 2005 with a B.S.( Bull Shit degree) in Kinesiology.:smh::smh::smh: On a side note, only major in kinesiology if you plan on going to either medical or physical therapy school. If you just use your b.s. in kinesiology, all you can find is jobs where if you are lucky, after 10 years in the game you may make 40K, and you will only be able to afford apartments or houses in shitty neighborhoods.

But back to the point, During my last semester I was looking for jobs in my field for after graduation but no luck. After graduating I was broke and needed cash for the holidays so I took a job working overnights at Bed Bath and Beyond. I did it for four straight nights and quit. Best decision I ever made. The work was repetitive and boring. I was suppose to work from 930pm-630am but each each day they made me stay at least an extra hour. The last day I did not leave til 930 because i made a mistake doing inventory on the cheap candy they keep next to the registers. You got one 15 minutes break and then a 30 minute break. Most of the co workers were cool (just people needing extra cash) but occasionally I would talk to some of the younger co workers who were on their high school and community college winter breaks and whenever I told them I just graduated from college, they would not say anything but just look at me like I was a loser. Hell, I don't blame them, I would have done the same thing if the roles were reversed. I remember thinking one night while doing inventory on what seemed like an unlimited supply of scented candles,"What the fuck is a college grad doing working with a C+ student from North Farmington High school for the same rate of pay??????????????". Also I hated the fact that the manager searched your pockets and you had to walk through a metal detector when you left (I dont need towels and a water purifer that bad).

Needless to say, after the fourth day I quit and the very next day, enrolled in some nursing pre rec courses my aunt told me about and the rest is history. I gotta admit, getting in those nursing courses was the best decision I ever made.
