That was a great assessment, but you made two errors. First, I'll start with what you got right. Rodman was the most unique defender in history. This was the only player that could play phone booth defense on a young, explosive Jordan, and control Shaq in the paint, while Shaq was in his prime, and everyone else in between. Olajuwon could out play Shaq, but I can't say that he controlled him defensively. Plus Rodman was the greatest rebounder the league has ever seen. Sure Bill R and Wilt C put up bigger rebounding numbers, but the game had a lot more shot attempts back then. A study factored in rebounds per shot taken, and showed that Rodman, at only 6'8", grabbed more boards per shot taken. If he played back then, his numbers would project to some crazy numbers. Plus he played against bigger, stronger and more athletic competition.
Pippen was always a great defender to me as I've seen him shut down quite a few great scorers. A small hand full of others can make that claim too, so that's not what separates him from the other defensive greats. Pippen is the only player I've seen in NBA history, that shut down an entire scheme. What he did to Utah in that one Finals, where he disrupted Stockton bringing the ball upcourt, then rotated back to the Center. Defensive brillance.
What you got wrong was not even considering Jordan as an all time defender. He isn't even mentioned in the honorable mentions. Led the league in steals multiple times and in the top 3 steals all time, the 2nd greatest rebounding guard in history, DPOY award, more defensive 1st team nominations than anyone in history. WTF? Not even a mention? Other than that, its on point (except for Chamberlain over Rusell defensively).
