check this verse from cube

To all them bitches that think they bootylicious
I think they nutricious - I think they do dishes
I makin three wishes - I take 'em they pictures
And spit 'em they britches - I fuck 'em they bitches
Ego maniac - little homies call me brainiac
Ice Cube is an ass-hole it ain't it aint an act
So take a hit at that - and remember that
Where my mothafuckin niggas and my triggas at?

:dance::dance::dance:

Common is pure trash. Nigga (c)raps like he has a dick in his mouth.

Still no verse from Cube huh? Ok, ok, I'll just have Common battle himself since Cube can't even attempt to get at him!

RESPIRATION

Yo...on The Amen, Corner I stood lookin at my former hood
Felt the spirit in the wind, knew my friend was gone for good
Threw dirt on the casket, the hurt, I couldn't mask it
Mixin down emotions, struggle I hadn't mastered
I choreograph seven steps to heaven
And hell, waiting to exhale and make the bread leaven
Veteran of a cold war It's Chica-I-go for
What I know or,
what's known
So some days I take the bus home, just to touch home
From the crib I spent months gone
Sat by the window with a clutched dome
listenin to shorties cuss long
Young girls with weak minds, but they butt strong
Tried to call, or at least beep the Lord, but didn't have a touch-tone
It's a dog-eat-dog world, you gotta mush on
Some of this land I must own
Outta the city, they want us gone
Tearin down the 'jects creatin plush homes
My circumstance is between Cabrini and Love Jones
Surrounded by hate, yet I love home
Ask my God how he thought travellin the world sound
Found it hard to imagine he hadn't been past downtown
It's deep, I heard the city breathe in its sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me it's hard to keep
Deep, I heard my man breathe in his sleep
Of reality I touch, but for me it's hard to keep

[HOOK]
So much on my mind I just can't recline
Blastin holes in the night til she bled sunshine
Breathe in, inhale vapors from bright stars that shine
Breathe out, weed smoke retrace the skyline
Yo how the bass ride out like an ancient mating call
I can't take it y'all, I can feel the city breathing
Chest heavin, against the flesh of the evening
Kiss the Ide's goodbye, I'm on the last train leaving

Cube couldn't write that if you gave him 100 years to work on it!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

YAY-YAAAY!!!!

:yawn::sleep::yawn::sleep::yawn::sleep:

let me know when you post something up that matters. (hits the snooze button on Cube)

Whatever. You can argue that Cube has the record for most consistently released and quality albums starting with Amerikka's Most and ending with Lethal Injection. The only one in that consistency argument is Jay-Z whom everyone worships. He singlehandedly brought the gansgta flavor east (think about it). All the while he is a humble dude who has evolved and became an even greater "brand". Say what you want, he is the apitome of growing up expanding, changing and staying profitable and relevant.

See this is shit that bothers me.....You broke down Amerikkka's Most and Lethal Injection....1990-1993....then what? When I talk about Mc's...I speak about delivery, content, flow, charisma and longevity. You are talking about Cube as a "brand"...and I'm talking about an MC...not any other extracurricular shit. Im talking about content through and through...Not what he other endeavors are....people kill me with this shit. Fuck profits and $$$....Im talking about the art and the culture...

Which brings me to my point. Yes Im a New Yorker...and have an extremely NEW YORKER attitude when it comes to Hip-Hop but Im not blinded by mainstream shit or any typical "hip-hop starter kit shit"...Biggie is not even in my top 5 nor is jay....I have the utmost respect for artists from all coasts...New York just has the BIGGEST pool of rappers who have put it down for a long time.

Son that verse was trash....I really question some of yall intelligence on the board in regards to deciphering and pinpointing quality lyrics and music......Cube is FAR FAR FAR from being the most lyrical artist from the West Coast...

He's an iconic rapper and has HUGE contributions to the hip-hop game and culture...but he's not a fucking lyricist...

CO-SIGN!!!!!

RAS KASS WOULD MERC CUBE! Matter of fact, after further perusal through the ranks of Hip-Hop, Cube falls to maybe 45-50 on the list. If we're talking accomplishments and $$$, granted he goes up much higher, but if we're talking skills on the mic, I'm sorry, Cube doesn't rank top 10! NOWHERE NEAR IT!

Son....Soul on Ice...has put Ras Kass in my top 15 off that album alone....Admittedly he has fallen off though...

The whole Heiro/Souls of Mischief movement...Casual, Saafir...a lot of lyricists out west....

Click to listen to Ras Kass on this track!:

couldn't find it on youtube or anywhere else. Check it out!

Come on now Benq....Im from Ny but I know my hip-hop...

Cube has 2 classic albums...then branched out into other mediums and totally fell off with his album material and music...

1-10 is RIDICULOUS....plus Common embarrassed him in a diss record back in the day....which dropped his status IMO

And he's been called out by KRS. Big deal. Man's only known for being exploited once...ONCE!! Being the head lyricist from the most influential rap group known today. Hustled his way into entrepreneurship, co-penned a few movies and still moralistic viewpoint since the PE days as a mainstay he never needed. Not to mention one of the last few rhyme writers still respected everywhere despite his mixed messages. Only rapper I know of that's supported by the same people he used to diss on records: Whites and Jews.

And as for as lyrics: you cats need to stop follow that 20+ year old Rakim format. Ice Cube lyrics are so graphic, he's basically a rapping screenwriter. For example, if you've seen his video (can't the name but Mack 10 made his debut on it) "That's What I gotta Do", every bar reflects a scene in the story as it develops. Stella story writing skills. Serious character development in his lyrics. All that polysyllabic rhyming and varied rhyme schemes and other rapping parlor tricks looks amazing UNTIL the rapper writes with substance. The last time I heard fancy rhyming with a smooth short story was "A story to tell" by none other...

That still doesn't show his skill on the mic! And since when did the Whites and Jews have any say in this shit at all!?!?! Who gives a fuck what they think?!

Top ten all time no question.

Think about this, then answer...

...who didnt Cube influence?

To me, that alone solidifies his rank.

influence? There are waaay too many to name! But you might be right, we've all seen how Hip-Hop has taken a turn for the worse for years now, so there might be something to your argument. Maybe Cube is the main reason Hip-Hop sucks so horribly right now?! If that's what you guys call skills on the mic.

Okay, name me someone who encapsulates ALL of those better than Cube?

Biggie is not even in my top 5 nor is jay....

Respectfully this changes things. Who is in your top five?

DO you find it just a bit ironic you are naming pre-Cube era artists?

NWA dropped in 86....Kane in 88, Kool G rap dropped in 1990...Slick Rick dropped the show in 85...but other than that...I can keep naming Mc's

Cube influenced a WHOLE COAST...but definitely not the east...
Before heads come in with that West Coast Gangsta shit influencing the East Coast....Kool G...was the main cat who came on that killer shit on the East....

So In essence....Wtf are YOU talking about....?

I do think Cube is within the top 20 Emcees not necessarily lyricist but when speaking on West Coast I think Hieroglyphics or even DJ Quik is a better candidate for the Best MC List.

Okay, name me someone who encapsulates ALL of those better than Cube?

This is an extremely open ended ? which is far too ambigious to answer...we could argue for days on this.....so look down

Respectfully this changes things. Who is in your top five?

No Particular Order....

Kool G Rap
KRS
Nas
Rakim
Big D Kane
These cats CHANGED THE GAME PERIOD....

Note: Im 26 yrs old...
Bottom 5 round out Rae, Redman, Jay,Black Thought..then the list just gets Wild unorthodox from there (Pac,Big,O.C., Ras Kass, Rock from Heltah Skeltah,Lord Finesse, Pharaohe M., AZ, etc... This is not counting Native Tongue Artists and influential rappers from different genre and cultural hip-hop movements ie: Phife,Posdnuos, Plus One etc.......)

I go by what I hear as a person who focuses foremost on lyricism...Ras Kass has always been a stretch..but I seriously couldnt even fathom conjuring up some of the rhymes he has put down in his early career, its a shame nigga couldnt stay sober or find good production...

"every few years niggas think they can deal wit tha real/now i gotta fuck cypress hill/I got a voice you should fear/I'll drink a beer, bust a rap and end ya fuckin career."

Ice Cube-King of the hill

Cube came hard on the DOC's record

Picture a nigga that's raw
Amplify his ass and what you see is what's on
Muthafuckas I slaughter, blow em out the water
Word to me, fuck the father
My melody is deadly as a pin in a handgrenade
5 seconds before you get played
You can't throw me, I guess you'll blow up
Ever see a sucker scatter, it'll make ya throw up
Then I take advantage, you can't manage
To get up, all you can do is sit up, I get lit up
Hit up, Ice Cube tearing shit up
Like a dude you can bet on
Collide like a head on
Collision, stutter steppin is an incision
Of a nigga saying exactly what I vision
Because I'm gone, you think I left you all
But I stay in yo' ass like cholesterol
When I blast some solid ass alcatraz
And if you escape, you better swim fast
'Cause I'll catch ya, physically and mentally
And the capital punishment's the penalty
Sitting in the electric chair, grab a hold
Pull the switch, yo' body twitch, your eye's explode
Out your skull 'cause being dull on a flow
Is an N-O, niggas didn't know that I can go
Off and show off to throw off the law
Turn, take 10 paces then draw
What's left is a muthafucka dead in the alley
Ice Cube is the shit on the grand finale
