Maybe heading over to newsgroups soon. Need some recommendations.

I subscribed to Giganews. Granted this is the only newsgroup that I've ever been with, but I've been with them for over a year now.(Don't tell HNIC...) But yeah, do a search on newsgroups on the board. I can't remember, but it was here that I got put on(of course...lol).

respect. I use MU for than anything but as far as RS its strictly for porn videos on bgol and thats becoming rare... I never upload on RS which is whats killing a lot of people and btw mostly in other countries not here as bad...Here the link have just been becoming dead faster not to say it won't happen!

Man, cats think this shit is ugly now. Wait until you have to pay a thousand dollar a month subscription fee to adobe to use photoshop, online, or download an old version of it.

The artist would not see any of that money anyway. The industry claims they lose so much money to this. But they fail to realize that those people would not have bought the shit anyway. I know half the shit i got i would have never bought.

See this is my only problem w/ downloading. Niggas be in straight up DENIAL trying to convince themselves that the shit is okay and justify it to ease their conscience. They know good and well this shit has adversely effected the music industry AND the artists as well. Yeah the artist may not have seen a BIG cut of the money from the record sales depending on their deal but the more records an artist sells the more marketable he/she is and the more opportunities to make money beyond record sales so it still effects them one way or the other.

And LET'S BE FOR REAL......majority of people who download an album are NOT going to go to the store and pay money for the shit when they ALREADY have it, NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT IS. IT'S JUST NOT REALISTIC!!! And you're fooling yourself if you think the only people who download are those who "wouldn't have bought it in the first place."

With all that said, I don't knock people who download. I'm guilty of it myself. And yes, there are some positives such as exposure for new, lesser known, or underground artists. But stop trying to dress the shit up like it's some sort of righteous cause or something. Whether you're cheap, too lazy, curious, or just plain don't give a fuck about jackin' somebody else's shit...JUST BE REAL ABOUT IT AND CALL IT WHAT IT IS!!!

What they are not telling you is that the fine was pointless. He will never be able to pay the fine. Plus they will never collect anything money from him. Unless he wins the lotto or become a millionaire he will never have to pay the fine.

What they are not telling You that it served its' purpose. They are not playing are. They also want You to STFU and GTHOH.

I appreciate the warning, but some here have already cleared things up.

People are not getting sued for downloading.
People are getting sued for sharing.

Record companies retain exclusive distribution rights. When you share, you distribute and that is how they nail people. You will not see one who simply downloads on trial. The industry is purposely misinforming the public through the ignorant media. The more people they can scare away, the better for them.

When you purchase a CD, you only own the right to listen to it, You do not own the music (obviously) and thus cannot share it. If you follow this law to the letter, you cannot let someone borrow it, because they do not have the right to hear it. I guess if you throw a party you cannot play CDs either unless people purchase the right to listen. Man, please!

Declaring bankruptcy for downloading music.

Bullshit:smh:

Don't do the crime if you cannot stand up like a man and do the time. How are You gonna commit and crime and scream racism? Many lames use that excuse. Sometimes it true. A lot of the time they look for someone to play they don't want to accept screwing up and getting served justice.

In this guy's case he went the bankruptcy which he should have. I buy the cd's legally from the big box store or local music store. I buy the computer software, video games and hd dvd that are not on blu ray and blu-ray movies themselves at the big box store.

I want to hold the content in my hand. I want to watch the extra footage in the blu-ray. I want to read the inside of the cd cover of U2, Kemistry, The White Stripes, Kiss, ACDC, Greenday or whatever album I legally buy the local music store.

Its' a treat just talking about different albums with the local kats at the music store who read dig the music. I don't want to ask for a re-up of some computer software or cry like many kats on here do when they get a virus from the software they download illegally. Its' easier to buy the computer program at the big box store I don't need re-up. Sometimes I laugh when kats complain about getting a virus. They download more software after they did not learn the first time. :roflmao3:

5 Stars :roflmao3::roflmao3: at all the comments.

Keep doing it. I can careless I don't download illegally. I'd rather pay for the content legally.

I asked myself the same thing. I only recently (few weeks ago) got my Superstar Status Tag, and I had over 6000 posts at the time. I usually drop movies in the Hollywood section yet it took so long. I don't get it either.

Exactly. They will find and sue everyone who made tapes copied from CD's right?

Damn, what is it with cats on BGOL? This post is about sharing/downloading music and money getting fined. Why are cats so concerned about my status?

GTFOH :hmm:

i think your right, i'm going to delete all my music and stop downloading

Think your jumping the gun a lil to quick there.

It's not illegal to download, it's illegal to share once you have downloaded. The people who should be scared are the ones who are on P2P networks and those like Lime Wire.

If you allow the music and/or movies on your hard drive to be shared and allow this to go on for a long period of a time then you are just setting yourself up for a lawsuit. If you use lime wire or torrents, just remember that once you have downloaded the files you want, take them out of your sharing folder.

I swear it's the most confusing thing. It obviously can't be from post count & I've seen contributors still have the BGOL Donor tag under their name either. If someone knows the answer to this madness then let us know. It was so much simpler on the old board when it came to status.

Actually, what is the exact law? I mean, isn't illegal to possess stolen property? A pirated copy of an album could be considered "stolen property" couldn't it? Unless you could prove you have the original copy. Just saying :dunno: When it comes to child porn, thy go after the guys who download and the guys who share cause its illegal to have those types of pictures. Not comparing music to child porn. just comparing the legality of illegal vs legal downloads.
