Off the Wall for me![]()
Off The Wall is cool, but when this song comes on, Thriller wins:
![]()
Truth be told I always thought "Bad" was a better album then "Thriller"

Release Notes:
I used to say this, but after listening to
"Wanna Be Startin' Something"
"PYT"
"Beat It"
"Billie Jean"
"Human Nature"
"Lady In My Life"
I gotta call it for "Thriller"
"I Wanna Rock Wit U" maybe be one of Mike's best, if not best songs, but that 9 song set of "Thriller" is completely unparalelled.
Think about it.
You can hear 7 of the 9 songs on "Thriller" EVERYDAY on the radio, even before Mike died. 7 of 9!!!! That's like 88% of the album is iconic.
And it changed the world
You might be by yourself there.
The '80s cheezy synthesizer shit was the worst shit Mike did. "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" was a little bit less "80s"

this is what i wa saying. single for single, thriller kills it. i can't even say it's close.
but music is personal preference, so......
I've always thought that "Off The Wall" was his greatest album, and that "I Can't Help It" is one of the under-appreciated classics of all time. In fact, the "Rock With You" video is how I'll always remember Michael in my mind's eye. Young, at the height of his talents, yet, without any of the surgical transformations that would come in later years.

http://www.youtube.com/v/dPTsmswQVwg[/flash][/quote]Dawg... I think people are jumping the gun saying Off the Wall is better.. Thriller is SO FUCKIN STRONG because it had the big pop hits like Beat It, Billie Jean, The Girl is Mine, & Thriller but that album also had Wanna Be Starting Something, PYT, Lady in my Life & Human Nature..
Man.. that album in the #1 seller of all time for a reason..
Now, I love Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough, Rock With You, Workin Day & Night, Off The Wall, I Can't Help It but I can't say it's as strong as Thriller even if Thriller has a few more pop tunes.
Quiet as kept, Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough might one of the most classic mid/uptempo songs he's ever made (& probably the most standout song on Off The Wall) but I can't really say it's "better" than either PYT or Wanna Be Starting Something.
I can certainly see the argument for Off the Wall but y'all better pop that Thriller album in again.. that shyt is 4real classic.
for real dawg...... mafuckas act like wasn't no soul on Thriller..
sheeeiiiiiiittttt.....

Actually my GF thought it was a new JT song. I almost wanted to slap her.
.
pretty much sums it up.
here's my breakdown:
don't stop til you get enough > wanna be startin' something (off the wall takes this one)
billie jean > rock with you
beat it > working day and night (this is arguable, though)
thriller > get on the floor
PYT > off the wall
human nature > girlfriend
the girl is mine > she's out of my life
the lady in my life > i can't help it
baby be mine > it's the falling in love and burn this disco out
post up your comparisons.
Chime in w/ you thoughts.

I prefer Off the Wall. In as much he could ever be, Michael was actually still "hungry" when he made it, and had a lot riding on it. You could hear the eagerness to please (and to mature) in his voice. The album was a perfect melding of disco, soul, funk and R&B, and came at the perfect moment.
If you were around then you'd know how incredibly satisfying those back-to-back blockbuster hits, "Don't Stop ..." and "Rock with You" sounded. They were exactly the kind of instantly-intoxicating, musically and vocally sophisticated tracks you dreamed he'd be doing at that point in his career. Turned out even better than expected.
Thriller is basically a more polished and commercially fine-tuned remake (with less of a pure dance vibe) of Off the Wall (featuring certain parallel tracks). Just as Bad was essentially a re-make (and a lesser version) of Thriller.
Of course, the world was really geared up for Thriller after the Off the Wall breakthrough, and by adding the MTV video explosion into the mix you had the perfect ingredients for an extraordinarily successsful album and a cultural phenomenon (which both made and ultimately broke MJ).
