they want me to goto this thing where they say they want to help me find a job..i received a letter in the mail saying if i dont go i can possibly lose my unemployment benefits...so if i dont go is this possible?

did anyone not go ? please asap!

If you are receiving unemployment, and the State tells you to go to a place so they can help you find employment...you MUST go!

Simple as that.

Can I assume that the State is telling you this?

from what i understand, yes you have to go. but why would you not want to go if someone's going to help you get a job???

Regardless of any Union affiliations, if a job comes up through the unemployment agency and you decline, your benefits will cease. Doesn't matter if the job is union or not. You would need a really good reason to decline a job. Remember, they are looking for a reason NOT to give those benefits.

Just go ahead and attend, you have nothing to lose but your unemployment.:smh:

Do you even want a job because you coming on here asking this question makes it seem like you just wanna sit on your ass all day.

ok so if they offer me a job i have to take it?

No you most likely don't have to take it, you just to have to show them that you're making a attempt to get a job, unemployment benefits can be rejected if the government doesn't think you're putting enough effort into getting a job.

Here in Florida you need to apply for at least 2 jobs a week (I think so but it's something like that) I don't know how it is in your state.

ok i been layed off for 2 weeks...what should i tell them

Just head down there and start the process of looking for a job, sign up and everything, once your done you'll probably get a recruiter or a counselor to work with you and call you if he/she has any job matches for you.

You gotta show them you want a job or else they'll take away your unemployment.

Where do you live?

This is true

in Missouri, you go to an office with a computer lab, you sign in, look for a job on some online search engine, and you leave. they are not gonna offer you a plumber job and expect you to take it. just go.

in some states, you have to go to a location every month and use their computer to continue getting benefits,,, in most cases it takes 5 minutes
