***Tripster's 2008 Investments (Ongoing thread)***

Ain' much to really fight about..We've stayed away from the lunacy of some stock boards w/ relevant hyping & pumping (hmm maybe I've hyped & pumped Ags a bit ), stayed & strayed away from the penny stock players(some tried to bring it on here), just seem to be investing in legitimate Co's w/ lots to offer in these troubled times. For the spring/summer mo's add these all to your watch lists -
COP/CVX/MRO/SU/XOM/APU/RIG/DRYS/PBR/APA
your Oil refiners/producers/drillers/shippers

Lets face it, we're 1 hurricane away from $150+ OIL prices by summer, you're a blink away from $4/gl on the pump, so how you goin to play it...red pill/blue pill??

forward thinking defies backward logic

The Oracle has spoken! Im gonna check all those out. Cant get'em all so I hope to pick a winner.

I'm gonna be watching this one.

i've been looking IPI over, and from what I'm seeing they will come to market this week (perfect timing I do say, with so many AGs reporting) they will come out the gate at about $2.0 - $2.5Billion Market Cap, Potash companies are not easy to get up & running the entry is high & it usually takes 5-7 years to break the entry barrier....with IPI they are ALREADY in the game, they are mostly domestic based in the US for their revenues, so those wonderful prices POT/MOS negotiated w/ China will not affect them. IPI is profitabe & I'm thinking while this may be an excellent IPO, coming in on the hottest time for AGs, it may not be the BEST recent AG IPO...I think I would have to award that to TITN, I do believe TITN has plenty in the tank & it's shaping up nicely. Ipi will do fine but to me you might be better off buying the Giants (POT/MOS/AGU) AGU is going to blast through $100 & it is my belief that NO MAJOR AG play will be trading for under $100 in a few months if NOT May. DE & AGU are in the $88-$90s range, (TRA is near $50) IPI may ride the wave, but remember it is small, and it cannot control prices (like POT)

If you want another POTash pick there is one I have played before it trades under KCLOF.pk it is a tracking stock for KCL.V on the TSX it is a Startup POtash Co called Potash One & it has moved up nicely, I suspect that juniors will move up as well as the majors, even if the juniors have no reason to, so a speculative investment on KCLOF may be worth it..its about $4.25 I think...

I've supported the AGs & ennesntially placed ALL the AG plays in your hands, reaize that the conditions have not changed for these stocks, they have gotten better...China just agreed to pay TRIPLE the price it paid last year...think about what taht will do to POT/MOS/AGU bottom line. There is STILL great gains to be made if you observe the right things, & research the right space. This week should be very intersting....My estimate is for AGU to outperform the others, it has been held back due to the needing to close a merger in the US.
If I had to rank them,,,they'd be as follows (in terms of who will perform best going foward)
1. AGU
2. POT
3. MOS
4. DE/TITN
5. MON
6. TNH/CF
7. TRA
**Wildcard is ofcourse COIN, will see that by June**

Good luck to all of you whether you decide to be in AGs is a choice you'll have to make,,,but get the gains where you can!

Please don't express shock when one day the quote on POT is in excess of $$300.oo

Im gonna pick up some IPI. Would be nice if its still under $40 by the time a small fry like me is able to purchase. Funny thing is DRYS I remember looking into it years ago when it was around $20. Never bought it now here it is. Man 4 years went by like nothing....

Hey POPO

I know you've been waiting for this IPI.

I am dumping my failing airlines stocks and trying to go for another winner. So far my Visa is a winner!, I just want to diversify.

Can anyone recommend some stock ticker software? Im currently just staring at my yahoo portfolio, but it would be dope to use software that updates quicker and can let me view multiple graphs at once.

Your brokerage company should have one. Bank of America has free streaming real time quote.

Bloomberg has a free one but you have to register.

I looked at DRYS about a year after it had IPO'd the stock had been one of the worst performing IPO's of 05, thenI saw it in early 06 at $19. Thought man, what a good opportunity for a industry giant who's new on the market, but did noting, smiled a few months later seeing it bottom even further under $10.oo, still no move....so like you I stood on the sidelines on a good biz, but saw the prospect...sucker mover from $10 to $130 from mid 06 to late '07....
IPI is going to do fine, not too often a POTash company hits market so it will be well recieved, already you see the increase in size meaning people want MORE of it.....good luck on getting a good handful...

I'm not sure how Y!'s tools are, never used them but i know looong ago MSN was on top of this game, so I'm thinking they still are ahead of the pack....but all these free services will be delayed on quotations, if you need real time you, like aposter suggested that'll be thru your discoutn broker...

Let us know how u do.//good luck

Man, good move Airline stocks will keep you grounded, & stuck on a runway waiting for clearance. If you buy Airlines buy the producers like Boeing/Lockheed. Visa is not what i would call a winner, It's up 10.00 since IPO, I will say it hit market at 58 or so & its $69 now, It's new on the street but will be interesting to see once the lockup ends how many IB's offload. It's valuation is quite high, but if they let it stand it should move higher. I just can't see it returning 100% from IPO price....Mastercard returned 500% from IPO price....& I just cant give V that kinda of run,,could be wrong....
As for IPI...it's a nicely timed IPO & as long as commodity prices are on the upswing AGs are the #1 or #2 sector swapping in & out w/ Energy

Good luck picking up a bunch of IPI, let us know how it goes..

Im thinking IPI opens tomorrow...Great pick on STV Trip. I missed out on some great gains today.

Damn! today was supposed to be my first day of daytrading, but didnt know there was a limit on how many trades your allowed to do. I think I came up with a decent method to make some money per day, and it worked with the first trade, but didnt work with the next due to unsettled funds. Guess I gotta get 25k in my account.

I know the odds are against me with daytrading, but I might as well try it, as long as I keep a few long term.

ah another one laced by t-3...options have t-1, but if youre going to trade u need a flex cash/stock base
50% cash 50% security
when you trade out u use cas to buy in agian
still t3 kills action,,hell t-1 kills action
all the more need for a $1m account, lol

OK bro,.,but check it...
RUles of MArgin....
these are mine,,you develop your own,,,
never USE 100% of margin, Try to stay under 50% utilzation
Margin can get hectic,,learned that a while back, now i stay CASH only...be careful on that...

Never over extend & never buy a tooo risky proposition on margin as when that sucker falls.....u get hit up w/ them margin calls...

btw i hope u bought an AG stock...

Closed at 168.16 today :dance::dance::dance:

Earning report on Wednesday

Good too see a recovery there,,,I'm curious to see their earnings,,,seems like they are pricing it in being a good one...i'm a bit skeptical...they may beat but may have to guide lower & thats what really hurts sometimes,,,guidance..not earnings,,,,,
we'll see

COIN -14.96% Since March 20th, sold today:smh:
SWC -5.21% Since Feb 16th, sold March 20th:smh:
PAL -14.20% Since Feb 16th, sold march 20:smh:

V +21.63% Since March 20th, long
AGU +3.74% Since April 21, long

Buying MOS (tomorrow), IPI (on watchlist) and possibly POT by the end of the week.

I'm definitely staying away from the weaker stocks COIN/SWC/PAL for now. PAL/SWC should pick up later in the year as it gets colder and as for COIN, I don't expect a big gain until they open their first plant in a couple of months.

>>>buy POT BEFORE earnings,,u wait till thurs it might be 240 lol, COIN/SWC/PAL are weak, but up significantly for the year, they wil all be fine for the 3Q. MOS/MON/TITN/TNH/CF/AGU/..
Why buy MOS whe you can get AGU on the fast track to 120???
AGU to me is the best AG play out there right now...but good gains you got there...

I hear you man...it's just that the price for POT is scaring me off right now. $208 yikes!!! AGU historically has always lagged behing POT and MOS, though it looks like it may be the best deal for me right now. How will you rank them? Keep in mind that the year to date gains are:

MOS 43.4%
POT 42.2%
AGU 21.9%

Then there is IPI too

Post 881 above has my rankings,,,what u got to realize is AGU just closed the UAP deal & prior they were being held back due to it not being done..NOW they will guide w/ UAP deal included & thier reveue stream is expanded..AGU to me is the best pick.,it think it will outperform the rest

I jumped in on COINZ a little too soon. Wanted some quick cash and this shit is tanking lol. Holding till I break even, would rather have it stuck in some more action elsewhere. Sold my 1 measly GOOG stock for a good profit. Watching V grow, and waiting for somebody to buyout S

You called it on AGU; It was up 4.67% on Monday. I've been holding onto a modest gain w/ TGB, but I gotta go. Folks are leaving gold behind now that the market is showing some gains. I'd like to wait for a pullback, but I think I'll go ahead grab AGU---and of course keep my MOS that I got at $110 (which I should have gotten when it dipped to $97). I gotta remind myself not to complain about profits...

Anyone think RIMM is still a good buy?

Good Analysis

Man,,with all this loot to be made on AGs i do hope the board has been listening to the preacher,,been 4 months singing the same tune lol...
IPI is getting heavy coverage/earth day an all..AGS got some major stamps of approval for more upside...lets get it

Lots of money shuffleing going on here. I've been thinking of doing the same myself. Its always been easy for me to be a long term investor because of my slow stock picking. But there are bangers being churned out here monthly. Im considering taking a portion of my PAL & TGB and adding more AG. On the radio this morning they were talking about Costco in NY rationing rice. 2 big bags(not sure the weight) per customer.

All..ADD CNOA to your watch list, OTCBB issue a CHINA RICE Company,,lil finite in that the only do Organic rice & cater to a richer client base...but $1.25...Been looking hard to find Rice plays w/ no success
