President Donald Trump's diesel deal with Russia comes as he is under pressure to reduce fuel prices with the U.S. midterm elections less than a month way.
• President Donald Trump's diesel deal with Russia would supply the global market with 4.8 million metric tons, or nearly 36 million barrels total.
• This is equivalent to about 10 days of U.S. domestic demand or a little more than a single day of global demand.
• The U.S. is a net diesel exporter so it does not need Russian supply, said Andy Lipow, president of Lipow Oil Associates.
• Goldman Sachs estimated the initial Russian release would only reduce wholesale diesel prices by $1 to $2 per barrel
