Holy shit! Marvel owns alien and predator now!

In Just 1 Day, Disney’s $184M Sequel Is Officially the Most Watched Title on PVOD in America

January 7, 2026

It only took a day for Predator: Badlands to hunt the biggest prize in PVOD. Having just released on streaming on Jan. 6, Predator: Badlands is now the most streamed PVOD movie in the Apple TV Store, according to data from FlixPatrol.

In claiming the top spot on the Apple TV Store's chart, Predator: Badlands has dethroned Wicked: For Good, which also rocketed to the top of the charts upon its release on PVOD in late December. Wicked: For Good remains in the second place spot, followed by Nuremburg, and Now You See Me: Now You Don't.

Predator: Badlands' PVOD success comes after an impressive theatrical run by franchise standards. Predator: Badlands earned $184.4 million during its theatrical run, the biggest gross of any Predator movie, on a budget of $105 million. That total was built on the back of a franchise-best $40 million opening weekend.

Predator: Badlands also scored well with critics, earning an 86% "Certified Fresh" approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That's some distance from the franchise's best reviewed entries, Predator: Killer of Killers with 95% and Prey with 94%, but still a vast improvement over everything else that came before, including the cult-classic original Predator and its sequel, Predators...

Disney's Franchise-Saving Sequel Is Hulu's Most Watched American Movie After Just 2 Days

After several weeks of success on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV, Predator: Badlands began streaming on Hulu yesterday, and on Disney+ in international territories. After only one full day on the platform, Predator: Badlands is already the most popular movie around the world on both platforms. The film didn’t perform exceptionally well at the box office, but it’s finally getting its due on streaming.

Was it any good? I completely ignored it.

Ok... It's basically a live version of Preadtor: Killer Of Killers featuring Alien: Earth (Synths Only) with a Guardian of the Galaxey vibe...

Predator: Badlands
2025

7.5/10

I watched this film last night on Hulu at home.

The film’s premise is nothing new, but works perfectly well with what this film is doing with the Yautja (Predator) species. More insight is given on how they operate within the Clans. The ritual of what they need to do to achieve certain equipment/weapons is defined. And it’s revealed that the Cloaking device is one of the most valuable pieces of equipment.

The main character is considered a weakling and his father condemns him to death. His brother spares him and sends him off to a planet where every living species is a primary predator. He wants to prove to his father that he can kill a certain species on this planet that has been labeled impossible to kill.

More information is given on Weyland-Yutani Corporation and how they employ Synth’s in routine operations. And information is given on their continued task of finding alien species to be used as weapons. Still no information has been revealed on why they are pursuing this task and what the endgame is.

VFX/SFX looks superb. Disney did a good job introducing various alien species and foliage in the franchise. We first saw this in last year’s ‘Alien Earth’.

Being the premise is nothing new and has been done a million times over the past 60+ years in various genres, the story is still engaging and keeps your eyes glued to the screen with how it’s presented. The highlight of the film is seeing the young Yautja operating as a Predator without the usual equipment/weapons that we are accustomed to seeing them use.

The 2nd highlight was the last scene that leads into a sequel. It looks like we will will finally be introduced to the female Yautja and how they function within the Clan. It looks like they are not in a submissive role in the Clans.

Looking forward to the sequel.

Disney's Gritty Sci-Fi Blockbuster Is Still the No. 1 Streaming Hit a Month After Landing on Hulu

…The movie got some rave reviews and scored 86% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and slightly better 95% from the audience. Earning $185 million at the box office, the movie received universal praise for its great VFX and effects used in creating a new ecosystem, Elle Fanning’s performance, and a focus on Yautja culture and language.

Now that love and appreciation are extending to streaming services. Predator: Badlands has spent over 50 days on the Amazon top 10 charts and 21 days on Disney+. It’s a mean feat, considering both Amazon and Disney have a wide streaming catalog, ranging from franchises like Star Wars and MCU to animated classics and original live-action films...

From what I can gather, the reception of the first season was mixed. Maybe Dinklage can bring something to the series that it's lacking.

First season was good.

Lots of folks were expecting the Xenomorph to be the primary focus, but the Octo-Eye Alien stole the series.

And the series gave more in-depth on the backstory of Weyland-Kutani Corporation.

Disney is going more in-depth with the Alien/Predator franchise. They aren’t just focusing on just having projects with the Xenomorph/Predator running around killing people which is what some people want.

Just going by YouTube, there was some complaints about the android girl and her ilk. Others didn't think the plot was particularly well-written.

I haven't seen it yet so I, personally, don't have an opinion but I was surprised by the level of negativity. I don't recall seeing this much criticism about Prey, Alien: Romulus, and the most recent Predator film.

Ridley Scott Teases ‘Alien: Covenant’ Sequel With Michael Fassbender That Explores “F*cking Chaos” Of AI: “Off The Rails”

By Glenn Garner
August 28, 2026

After nearly a decade, Ridley Scott is returning to the Alien franchise with a contemporary take.

The Academy Award honoree recently revealed that he’s “rewriting the next Alien film,” which will serve as a long-awaited conclusion to his prequel trilogy that also includes Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017), with Michael Fassbender‘s Walter One returning.

“Actually, I suddenly went back and got involved,” he told French outlet AlloCiné. “The one that just came out [2024’s Alien: Romulus] was OK. I think it needs some help. So, I’ve gone back in.”

Scott continued, “I’ve already got a footprint for the next Alien. We did Prometheus, and then Alien: Covenant. So, I’m picking up where we left off in Covenant with Micheal Fassbender, who now thinks he’s Ozymandius.”

With the sequel bringing back Fassbender’s futuristic AIdroid, Scott sees an opportunity to explore the repercussions of artificial intelligence in our current world.

“I like the fact that AI has gone off the rails,” said Scott of where the character is at the end of Covenant. “If we go AI, the moment we discover it’s off the rails is too late. It could switch every digital thing off in the world like that. You’d have fucking chaos. It’s that kind of stuff that’s scary.”…

Sounds like he's going to focus too much on being topical rather than telling a good story. And, honestly, Prometheus and Alien Covenant were not good films. IMO they were only superior to Resurrection and the AvP films.

This motherfcuker is of the thinking: "EVENTUALLY ONE of these pieces of shyt HAS to be good!"

Romulus was decent. And Alien Earth was good...which he NOTHING to do with either!!! You'd think they'd take the hint!
I haven't seen Alien: Earth but Romulus was good. The prequels have really only been better than the AvP franchise which isn't saying much.

If you liked Romulus you'll like Alien Earth, just keep in mind it's a show for TV so the maturity is died down for a wider audience.
Which is fine. Assuming you mean the gore is toned down, the original Alien wasn't over the top with the blood except for the initial chest-bursting scene.

The franchise is at its best when it emphasizes the atmosphere moreso than the gore and violence.

The gore as well as the story KINDA. It stays in the Aliens wheelhouse, but also caters to a younger audience but treats them as adults if that makes sense.

I do know that story centers around a little girl whose mind has been transferred into the body of an adult-looking synthetic. So, I can sort of understand your point.
