An investigation by the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS) and other related agencies led officials to suspect that Shelbie L. Adair had stolen funds from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
…She reportedly submitted four SNAP applications and two SNAP Mid Certification Review Forms to DSS, but did not disclose that there was another adult residing in the home who earned an income. Court records emphasized that SNAP applicants are required by law to report all forms of income within a single household.
Due to the fraudulent applications, Adair allegedly received a total of $9,800.44 in SNAP benefits. She was charged with Stealing $750 or More and Unlawfully Receiving Public Assistance Benefits (Value $750 or More)...

Chrystal McFadden, 35, entered a negotiated guilty plea Thursday to illegal use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, a fourth-degree felony. Court records show McFadden was indicted by a grand jury in November and later arrested on a warrant. She had previously pleaded not guilty before reaching the agreement with prosecutors.
Her bond was reinstated following Thursday’s hearing. McFadden is scheduled to be sentenced April 13.
