Ask the south dudes I'm sure they can tell you all about Little Brother, seeing as they support everything from the south and all.

Hey I'm just saying man. Whenever Little Brother comes up, it's usually someone not from the south that brings them up, and then it someone not from the south that explains about them. Then all them dudes that say we are hating on the south with the wack ass rappers, never have shit to say when it comes to Little Brother. So I'm calling it like I see it.

Re: Little Brother

Man, I'm not even from Durham (B-more, y'all know), and I've had to school a lot of the locals on these cats, and I thought I was late finding out about them in early '04.

Re: Little Brother

LITTLE BROTHER = BGOL fan faves.

Solid hiphop right there. Been around for years in the game, and it should be interesting to see what direction they take now that 9TH WONDER has officially branched off ... and they'll be able to gather up a variety of production either from other in-house fam' or close affiliates. I know I'm not the only one hoping to hear some quality product blessed from the likes of Khyrsis and Chaundon! They're the truth (the whole JUSTUS LEAGUE camp), and you know they're good people when PHONTE himself has passed through in recent memory to say wattup to the fam' and hip us as to how they're doing (in the past 1 - 1.5 years or so). I first caught wind of 'em in late-October 2003 (they and others were opening for the SOULS OF MISCHIEF show downtown in our city, and did that thang up right!!)

Good shit.

I wonder if me being a fan of these guys, mean that I still hate the south?

You know none of those "you hatin' on the south" dudes have bothered to show up in this thread, right?

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Re: Little Brother

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Brother
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Getback :

"Getback is a forthcoming album from Little Brother set to be released on October 23th, 2007. It will be the group's third studio album, following 2005's The Minstrel Show."

"Little Brother is an American hip-hop group from North Carolina that consists of Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh. Producer 9th Wonder was a part of the group since its inception, but left before recording the album Getback. Their debut album The Listening (2003) was highly acclaimed, and was followed by The Chittlin Circuit 1.5 mixtape in 2005 and the group's second album, The Minstrel Show, also released in 2005 and received a "XL" from XXL magazine and 4.5 Mics from The Source. The group tours frequently with their official DJ, Flash."

In an interview with MVRemix.com, Phonte explained the origins of his group's name: "Tribe, De La, P.E....were like our big brothers in the game so now we are the little brothers of that movement...carrying on the tradition of good music."[1]

9th Wonder's departure

More of a surprise to fans was news that the group has also parted ways with their longtime producer 9th Wonder. Although 9th Wonder's role in the group was that of a producer, the group's tours only consisted of the other two members and his contribution to recent Little Brother releases such as Separate But Equal were less than before (although it is worth noting that this release was a mixtape and not an official album). Nonetheless, news that he would be playing a smaller role and contributing less to their third album indicated a divide between the members. Big Pooh stated that the decision was amicable on both sides, saying "This is just a decision that had to be made so all three of us could move forward and continue to provide the world with dope music."

Re: Little Brother

Minstrel Show is one of the greatest albums made in the past five years!

I had to walk away from it.

They on some up north vibe with the beats and lyrics though, but don't let that take you away from the music.

They tight.

Word, F'.

They're international which is the shit about them. They deserve ACCLAIM ACROSS THE BOARD. And I'm glad they got some Euro' attention and love when PHONTE/NICOLAY combined forces for the AMAZING 'Foreign Exchange' project years back. That piece is a WORK OF HIPHOP ART.

I even gotta get more shit from them. I thought I had it all, thanks for the re ups. LB is the shit.

This is what south dudes can do if they focus on lyricism and not coonin'

Is one of the greatest hip-hop albums I've EVER HEARD. Don't not sleep, Connected will fucking blow you away.

Little Brother is the shit, here's hoping they can hold it down with 9th Wonder gone.

Re: Little Brother

LB is the truth man!!! Been down with these dudes since The Listening!! They make what i like to call "feel good hiphop". One thing ppl gotta understand, is that the south ain't just snap, crunk, and chopped-and-screwed shit. Peep the DJ Drama & Little Brother mixtape(very dope mixtape!!!!!), Phonte said that shit himself on the first track. Mainstream wants you to think the south is Soulja Boy, Gucci Man, and Jeezy.......it is what it is tho. Gotta go find that good hiphop tho, its there man, just gotta look for yourself. But yeah man, peep these guys if you just wanna here good music. My favs from them are, The Listening, and that DJ Drama mixtape(slept on, HARD!!!!!!!), Chitlin Circuit, hell peep all their shit!!!!

Damn i almost forgot about 9th wonder. Check out his body of work. He produced "Threat" off the Black Album!   And that dude Khrysis(Justice League) is extremely nice with his beats too!

I agree. That's what I've been saying to those "you just hating on the south" snap ignorant shit defenders.

Like I said whenever LB is brought up, it's never anyone from the south that tells anything about them, with the exception of a few. But it's mostly people not from the south biggin up LB.

But we are hating on the south. I guess NC isn't considered the south now. I gotta call my grandmother in Bullock NC and let her know she's a yankee now. She's gonna be pissed.

 ...man you know damn well NC is below the mason-dixon line, i refuse to even debate that. But seriously, i think one of the main reasons ppl from the south, on this board, don't bring up LB or any other real hiphop acts from the south up, is because they either don't listen to them or they think someone will try to deem them irrelevant. Once again this is my opinion, so i may be wrong....but i think i'm right! How many dudes do you know that will say, "Yeah I like Gucci, Crime Mob, and oh yeah Little Brother!...... :smh: :smh: :smh:
ppl try to measure your worth by the fact that you on the radio, mtv, bet. its bullshit!

Re: Little Brother

A southern Hip Hop act that lyrically embarrases many current Hip Hop "heavy weights."

Nobody's fucking with Phonte, lyrically that is.

Re: Little Brother

Yeah LB and all dem catz is my nigz. I knew Phonte when he was at NCCU
winnin mic battles in Chapel Hill at the Cat's Cradle. If you aint up on them
you're doin ya self a great disservice.

Re: Little Brother

"Phonte's Power Steering Style..."
LB # 1

Next to LB..., there has only been OUTKAST and Goodie Mob that do it this GOOD bellow the Mason Dixon!

Re: Little Brother

Maybe dudes here in the South know who Little Brother is but just don't feel compelled to talk about them on this board. I'm in NC and I'm a fan of LBs music. I've been to the Cat's Cradle shows and supported their music. Little Brother music is hit or miss though. I've had discussions with dudes who listen to Hip-Hop music that say they don't like LB.
