Anyone see DUST BUNNY (2025) ?

My first time hearing of it. Looks like it has a good cast ...

Dust Bunny is a 2025 American action thriller film written, produced and directed by Bryan Fuller in his feature film directorial debut. It stars Mads Mikkelsen, Sophie Sloan, Sheila Atim, David Dastmalchian, and Sigourney Weaver. It follows a hit man who is approached by an eight-year-old girl to kill the "monster" under her bed that she claims "ate" her family, suspecting they were actually killed by dangerous assassins who are after him.

The film premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 9, 2025, followed by a theatrical release in the United States on December 12.

6.5/10

I had recently watched ‘Frankenstein’ on Netflix and Mia Goth caught my attention. I looked her up on my cable box and saw she was involved with this film and ‘X’ and ‘Maxxxine’. I had been interested in X prior and saw that all 3 films are part of a trilogy. Instead of watching them by release date, I decided to watch in order of timeline and I started with this film which is considered a prequel for the trilogy. I watched it last night at home on HBO MAX.

The film mainly focuses on Pearl who is married and her husband is over in Europe for WW2. She is stuck at her family farm helping to take care of her invalid father and living under her mother’s strict rule.

She has dreams of being a big star. The film focuses immediately on her level of violence.

It’s mainly a psychological, character thriller until the end when we it’s seen showing Pearl eventually crossing the line on being a hardcore murderer. It’s filmed like an upbeat film from the 40s/50s and has similarities in how it’s presented like ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Gone With The Wind’.

Mia Goth, who produced and co-wrote the script, does a good job of ‘Bat Shit Crazy’. The closing credits scene shows her perfectly showing the character being completely out of her mind.

As a standalone film, it comes off as a knockoff version of ‘Psycho’ with a female lead. I suspect it will take on a different perspective when I watch the other 2 films here soon.

Looking forward to them.:16:

Synopsis

Trapped on an isolated farm, Pearl must tend to her ailing father under the watch of her mother. Lusting for the glamorous life she's seen in movies, Pearl's temptations and repressions collide.

I watched this last night on the road on HBO MAX. It was the first film released in the trilogy.

The film ‘Pearl’ took place in 1918, this film takes place in 1979.

Pearl is in it as an old, decrepit and horny old woman. She is still married to Howard. She never achieved the fame/success she wanted in the first film and is still stuck on the farm. She see’s herself in the young girl ‘Maxine’ who shows up with others on her farm to secretly shoot a porn movie.

The porn movie being shot fits in with the prequel film when Pearl first sees her first porno. This and Pearl’s disappointment on her life connects this film to the prequel.

The movie is shot in a ‘Grindhouse’ style and has similarities to the cult classic ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.

For the Militants, there is interracial between BM/WW. They are shown have full Rated X sex. Kid Cudi/Brittany Snow’s scene shows the most. Mia Goth just shows her in cowgirl.

For the Thirsty, Brittany Snow and Mia Goth are seen nude in a few scenes. Jenna Ortega only goes down to her bra/underwear.

For the Foot Fiends, Mia and Brittany’s feet are shown in a number of scenes.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, there is BM nudity of Kid Cudi. There is a full frontal scene with him in the dark and his ‘Fake’ penis can be seen swinging.

It isn’t explained why Pearl is still with her husband after what he saw when he returned home and why he accepted the way she is. Some information is given on Maxine’s background. I will suspect more will be explained in the 3rd film ‘Maxxxine’.

Good amount of graphic violence in this film compared to the first which had less.

I rushed binging these two cuz HBO MAX plans on removing these two from there service tonight at midnight for whatever reason.

Looking forward to the 3rd film.

Synopsis

A group of actors sets out to make an adult film in rural Texas under the noses of their reclusive hosts, but when the elderly couple catches their young guests in the act, the cast finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.

Marty Supreme

PRAISE : Marty Mauser, a ping pong champion is a blend of Jimmy Reardon and Howard Ratner from Uncut Gems. Watching the movie i wondered if there is anytime that Marty isn't on the grift? But that's part of the fun of the movie. Played to a crazy, sincere and winning T performance from Timothee Chalamet he's the type of person so arrogant and smug its part of his charm. Even knowing he was setting someone up or seducing a woman at just the right vulnerable moment in her life i couldn't help rooting for him or what crazy misadventures he was going to get into next .Gwyneth Paltrow as Kay Stone definitely brings her own insecurities she must have had along the way to becoming a great actress. Odessa A’zion as Rachel Mizler who i only know from HBO's Love LA is outstanding as Martys sometimes lover. She reminded me of Debra Winger.Kevin O’Leary as Milton Rockwell was great to watch as his frustrations and disdain for Marty grow throughout the movie.Tyler, The Creator as Wally is great as Martys partner in drifting. Director and writer
Josh Safdie and writer Ronald Bronstein once again provide characters and actors from every walk of life that are as interesting as they are eccentric. Scenes are a blend of hilarious and crazy coupled with visuals that lead to some very involving moments. Like most of the characters in the movie i was annoyed by Marty but still curious about him. Especially when he's pushing situations to the limit and further complicating his life and people that are in his orbit.

PROBLEMS: Several predictable turns.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 9

One of the best movies of 2025

Dreams

PRAISE: About halfway through this movie i asked myself what's the true measure of a real romantic relationship. Of course I can say its respect, love ,sexual compatibility, I look out for you and you look out for me,and I'm proud to be with you. Jennifer McCarthy (Jessica Chastain) Fernando (played by real-life dancer Isaac Hernández) go through the motions of all of the aforementioned in this movie about charity and love coming with strings. Both actors do well here displaying fondness, love and a lot of lust. Slowly but surely the dynamics of the relationship are revealed. There's this push and pull that's laced with promises ,exciting love making but also a question of who's in control and that rhythm in the movie really worked for me. I liked how the movie displayed how hard it is to have a relationship with someone who is not only in another country but even if you have the means to avoid certain hurdles in the immigration system the legalities can make one feel like they're on a merry go round. The movie also doesn't shy away from showing how the immigration system can be a harrowing experience. It also deals with racism, prejudices and hate which ties into a revelation and the last fifteen minutes of the film which had me on edge with suspense.

PROBLEMS: The movie does stall at times with scenes that are a bit drawn out even making some of the acting a bit empty.

MaXXXine
2024

5/10

I watched the last film of the trilogy last night on the road on HBO MAX.

It takes place 6 years after the events in ‘X’ in 1985 Los Angeles.

Infamous serial killer ‘The Night Stalker’ is a sub-plot in the film. Maxine is a big name porn Star and wants to transfer over into mainstream Hollywood which is the main plot of the film.

This film didn’t have the suspense as the prior 2 movies. It plays out like a slow burn film. The highlight is the soundtrack with iconic songs of the 80s. The first film ‘X’ had iconic songs from the 70s.

There are a number of subtle, indirect references to the prior films basically put in there to connect the films together.

For the Pervs, there are a couple of scenes you will enjoy being porn is in the backstory.

For the Gay Agenda trackers, there is an openly gay BM, nothing is shown.

For the Thirsty, Mia Goth only looks good in the first 15 minutes of the film, after that she looks like shit. ‘X’ is the film where she looks 100% Smash material.

This isn’t the best film in the trilogy. I was expecting more, but it is what it is.

It’s the final film in the trilogy, it still leaves open some questions.

Synopsis

In 1980s Hollywood, adult film star and aspiring actress Maxine Minx finally gets her big break. However, as a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Los Angeles, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.

Marty Supreme

Easily, one of my favorites of the year

If there's a picture of anti-hero when you google, it would be Marty Mauser. You don't want to like him, but you do. I'm not sure if it's the American aspect or because you feel like he can be redeemed, and he can be a good person deep deep down. Meanwhile, everyone he comes in contact with, he fucks up their life

If you think this is some sort of inspirational Rocky or Rudy type of sports movie, you are thinking wrong.

It has quite a few cameos like Tyler and George Gervin who fit right in and look like legit actors. I hadn't seen Sandra Bernhard and Fran Drescher in a minute.

I left wanting more. Normally bio pics don't leave me like that.

Thanks for the review, Complex.

Looking forward to checking this one out. Big fan of Chalamet's work from Lady Bird, Wonka, Beautiful Boy, A Complete Unknown, etc.

He's fully dedicated to his craft (as noted in the SAG award acceptance speech below) and seems like a good dude. You don't see or hear bullshit headlines about him like many others in young Hollywood over the years. Plus, he's a regular guy - loves sports and hiphop as seen in countless interviews / podcasts.
