Ultimate Horror Film Thread

I hate that franchise. The film quality is so dark you could argue all of the violence was off-screen.
Ehhhh Dracula 90 did it better.. seems a lil similar but not as well made.. it’s not in my top 5 or 10.. in fact I don’t think I will ever rewatch it… my fault I thought I was responding to your nosferatu comment.. I’m talking about the new version

More blood than anything. You really don't see much but that's probably realistic with a kid that small and a large gator. That scene has nothing on this.

Wasn’t even a horror film and more kids got merked.. in fact that car scene remind me of piggy dying.. but piggy dying was more unexpected.. it was so out of nowhere I started cracking up when I first saw it

Piggy got it and weird Simon got stabbed to death

By the way 1 of the few movies, where the movie was better than the book.. I love the humanity and how it can be corrupted aspect of this flick

There's so much violence against children in it that if Stephen King's IT were faithfully adapted, you'd probably go crazy.

The book opens with Pennywise drowning a 3-year-old in the toilet, he kills Bill's 6-year-old brother by pulling his arm clean off, he pulls the head off one kid when he's in the form of the Gilman from The Creature from the Black Lagoon, pulls another kid's head off as Frankenstein, attacks a middle schooler by turning into flying leeches and sucking the fluid out of his eyeballs, one elementary age kid is murdered by his stepfather by being beat on the head with a hammer, and Pennywise frames the main bully by planting the panties of a little girl he murdered in the bully's bedroom.

I'm not sure agree that the movie was better but it's been awhile since I've read it and can't genuinely argue the point.

Saw the movie way b4 I had to read the book.. had to read the book in 7th or 8th grade for my English class.. all I can remember me thinking thank God I seen the movie cause this book bored the shit out of me.. I got an a for that book assignment and test thanks to the movie . Everyone else in class was struggling to get through that shit.. than I looked out and told everyone if they can go rent it or something you can breeze through this segment.. everyone in class thanked me for that cheat code.. I remember that big time back in the days how I loved the movie but didn't care for the book

It definitely may have been a boring book but were you into reading when you were in 7th or 8th grade? Because middle schoolers who aren't into reading will prefer pretty much any movie over a book if given the chance. That's especially the case if the book is assigned reading.

Well, there's that book/movie subject again.

In this case, none of the adaptations I've seen hold a candle to the book. The original series is worth seeing even if it's dated. Tim Curry's performance as Pennywise is sensational. The first of the new movies is pretty good but I can't remember if I even finished watching part 2. I'm curious to see how the HBO series will be.

I won awards for reading when I was in elementary... I would breeze through books in a few days, even use to get free memberships for magazines and get coupons to order books.. mom build a library in my crib ever since I was a baby, so definitely was into books

Did you have a favorite book/s back then? I enjoyed the Goosebumps books when I was in late elementary/middle school. I wouldn't have said they were better than the show, just different. As far as stuff I read in class, I enjoyed short stories like Flowers for Algernon, The Scarlet Ibis, The Phantom Tollbooth and some others.

It occured to me that when we talk about kids getting merked in horror, we really only care about little kids. Horror fans, slasher fans in particular, revel in the idea of teens getting slaughtered even if they're technically still minors.

Like I mentioned earlier Freddy literally killed teenagers/ under age teenagers throughout his films.. even in part 6 they went as far as saying there were no more kids in certain parts of America cause he killed them all.. part 1 they were all highschool kids, part 2 also, part 4 also, part 6 wiping out whole towns. he was a pedo and kid killer

Depends on what age you talking about.. I liked the chocolate wars, scary movies to tell in the dark part 1 and 2, maniac magee

Some of Y`all real deal Tru Horror Fans post Y`all all time top 10 list ....

That would be hard as hell

But Friday the 13 part 6 and nightmare on elm Street 4 are hands down my fave Jason and Freddy movies, if I got to go with 1 vampire movie it has to be lost boys, if I had to go 1 werewolf movie American werewolf in London, the thing is sci fi greatness

Bro as my friend and brother. First can you please not turn this into a thread devoted to images of hurt kids.

the people I was talking to directly @therealjondoe @Piff Henderson got my point and understood it. I see you not catching what I'm saying which is fine. They got it so we good.

But posting all that aint necessary and isn't even what I was talking about specifically.

I want to revisit the anthology conversation we started a few pages back. There's a a few horror anthologies I have to catch up on but I'm a fan of Tales from the Crypt, Creepshow, Goosebumps (technically was an anthology), and Tales from the Darkside.

Haven't seen the VHS series but you pretty much named the ones worth mentioning... They failed the scary movies to tell in the dark anthology.. liked the book didn't care for the movie
