Joe Budden podcast done? No Rory or Mal for 2nd straight episode

I didn't actually see the original clip because i dont listen to cardi b, but if what Ice is saying true, then I agree with Ice. There are levels to this and the earlier comment is plausible deniability. Jon Stewart has pointed this out with Fox News with the Question Mark at the end... "Is President Obama the Anti-Christ?" It's like you're saying it without saying it. By continuously bigging up the writers or saying "i dont know who wrote this, but it's fire..." you are questioning Cardi's creativity as an artist. As a former artist, Joe knows this...this is when I wish Rory was still on the pod cause he would light Joe up on this take.

It's not true. They mentioned it, just like they tried to mention the producers of the songs. What's the difference.

Cardi said some of the jabs were her ok....but you still had black Toure and Pardi on the songs.

You're a co-writer. Beyonce is technically a co-writer on a lot of her songs. Imagine her being upset because Brian Michael Cox or The Dream were mentioned. Pardi helped with like 17 of the 23 songs. Pardison has a credit on Imaginary Playerz. Joe is supposed to act like she did it dolo? That shit doesn't even make sense.

Ice is just a bitch.

Comparing R&B artist to rappers is a false equivalency. Rappers are expected to write their own lyrics. There is no expectation for R&B artists to do this and most openly talk about collaboration with others or full on writing camps. Rappers even if they do this look at this as an insult.

Personally, I don't care as long as it's a good song. The exception being when a rapper is claiming to be the best. However, it does seem like Joe was doing this as a slight. Just because someone wraps shit in a bow doesn't change the fact that it's shit. It just makes the shit more palatable. Joe wants to indirectly shit on her, but doesn't want to deal with her fanbase. Just like most don't want to deal with Nikki's fans.

I don't think I've ever seen Joe allegedly want to big up writers or anyone else outside of a producer on a song. Why do it now? At somepoint, Joe says we don't know who wrote what. If thats the case, why are you speaking as if you know it's not Cardi? For the record, i don't believe most of believe Cardi writes high level to begin with. This makes Joe doing this more questionable. Giving benefit of doubt, what if the co writers only wrote the hooks. Which is not unusual for any artist.

Parks opinions are usually invalid to me as he tends to parrot Joe's thoughts.

It's the same equivalency when rappers are using writers and they aren't ghostwriters. This ain't the 90's and rap is now R&B. You have rappers like BXthePLug even talking about not getting a song from their writer.

And like that conversation a few episodes ago....

Parks is speaking from the engineering perspective of working on a song and wanting credit. His opinion is very valid.

Does Parks have a history of doing this consistently? Ive heard him speak high level, but never or rarely a true focus on who did what. If not, I stand by my stance that he's following Joe per the norm. Flip does the same type of shit.

Its not the same. As a whole, the Hip-hop community looks down on getting assistance with writing lyrics. It doesn't matter that its not the 90s because most artists still claim to live by the rule regardless of what they may do behind the scenes. One of the biggest arguments against Drake is he didn't write all of his lyrics. I don't recall Joe trying to have this in-depth who wrote what talking points with him. The only thing close was saying JCole out rapped him and he said the same about Yachty. If people don't speak on it, deny it or attach shame to it, it's fair to say it not respected. If you acknowledge it's not respected and you attach it to an artist (Cardi), one can make the argument that you are slighting the artist. She isnt wrong for taking it as disrespect from Joe.

In my opinion, this is Joe's way at going at Cardi. Personally, instead of pretending you love her, just give your honesty opinion on her as a whole. He doesn't because he doesn't want to deal with the backlash. However, he'll do things like this to get attention. The same with speaking on Drake. Mentioning artist who you know are likely to respond is a way of driving traffic and Joe has acknowledged he does this. He can't outright go at her because it would be a bad look with him being a man. Even if someone steps to him, he can say he never disrespected her and it's true. That doesn't mean he isn't taking soft shots at her.

I didn't watch the whole segment.Did he even mention any artist by name? Id respect Joe more if he said "enough Cardi. We all know you don't wrote or you get a lot of help" . If your return is, we don't know who wrote what, then you should shut the fuck up. You're basically saying it's a possibility that Cardi did write it, so why make the call out to begin with.

It is the same when rappers aren't doing the work and have reference tracks and writers.

How is rap different from R&B? Because what was done 30 years ago? It ain't 30 years ago.

What rapper claims that code today? Who talks about lyrics and lyricism?

Again, Pardi as in Pardison Fontaine wrote on 17 fucking songs. Not 1, not 5, 17....

Do you even know who BXthaPlug is?

Again, it's not the same because the average rapper claims to be against this and uses it to discredit other artists. By your own logic, there is no reason for Joe to mention this if it's standard practice and the new generation doesn't care.if this were considered ok, there wouldn't be a reason for ghost writers anymore. When was the last time he did this for an R&B act? He normally speaks to the song as a whole. Very few people would ever say who wrote that line. It was meant to discredit her ability which is the true discussion im having.

I don't care about what individuals say or what they actually do behind the scenes. The standard publicly for most rappers is they wrote their own lyrics without assistance. The first shot Nikki will throw at other women rappers is what? PusherT and Meek said what about Drake? You don't speak to the minority. You speak to the majority.the majority are going to say i write my own shit.

Even if I were to take your stance, Joe is a lyricist from the 90s era. Your position on new acts don't apply to his mindset or most of the cast. That doesn't mean they can't like the music or artist, but he's standards for this isn't aligned with what you are saying in regards to writing your own lyrics. Joe is the person being accused of disrespecting. The shoe fits. If we were talking about you, maybe it isn't a shot given your mindset. This isn't true for Joe. Even giving benefit of doubt, Joe knows better and worse he doubled down on it. You are not about to play like a known lyricist doesn't care if people write their own shit high level. I doubt he losses sleep but Joe cares.

Who is the average rapper? The average rapper in 2025 is just going tor a hit and doesn't care about 1990's rap rules.

NBA Youngboy cares about lyrics

You're really out of touch when discussing this.

What does the word average mean?you are attempting to focus on a small segment of a community instead of the community as a whole. How can I be out of touch when I've stated my personal take is i don't care. The exception being if you are claiming to be the best rapper/lyricist. My personal view aside, the average rapper which includes all eras don't give the same level of respect to artists who don't write for themselves. When the old era is literally dead and gone, you can focus on the new generation that would likely be the new majority. This is still a regular conversation to the point of Bleek mentioning Beans said he couldn't recall seeing Bleek write recently. A part of people's whole issue with Drake was him not writing. Now all of a sudden no one cares because Joe is to afraid to give his full thoughts on Cardi.

Again, we are talking about Joe's mindset as a lyricist. He is the one being being accused of being disrespectful; not YB or any other rapper from the current generation. Recently, he has stated he would not allow someone to wrote for him. More importantly, Cardi took offense to the claim, so if nothing else she cares. Otherwise, there would be no reason for her to feel disrespected.its also clear that their is tension between the two which makes the argument that Joe made the statement taking a shot more likely.

A few of you do this alot. You dick ride Joe to no end. Its ok to say when he has done something questionable. Its ok to be objective. It doesn't make you any less of a fan. Joe was taking a shot regardless of what you believe the current generation feels about writing. Take the world out of the discussion and narrow it to the people involved. To them ( Joe & Cardi), who wrote what matters. Guyver and Complex's thought on the matter are irrelevant.

You would think this would be Flip acting with Ian; not Marc. Especially the wrestling part. Also, thoughts on if this playing on the Mel events.
