No FEMA. Severe Central Texas flooding

Some dude who knows more than us posted this to YouTube. The area sits at the bottom of a hill with soil that experienced a weather change often and tends to harden making it not as good as absorbing water.

Smh I didn't think of any of this and it shows you how much nonsense is shared on social media for views.

I’m just not sure how I feel about this for real @playahaitian

hmmm.... God Bless all those who helped out. Good.

It is sad it takes massive death to galvanize this country every time (and then IMMEDIATELY we forget)

T-rump and his cronies are trying their best to STOP empathy compassion understanding and coexistence.

All this means nothing though even they (including Black, Latino white people and greedy so-called liberals and non voters and 3rd party voters) continue to vote and support a white supremist.

So here's the thing,....there is no way any of this could have been avoided. They could have had 1,000 NWS personnel onsite that night and this still would have happened. Sure you would have gotten timely weather alerts and flood alerts on your phone, but who really pays attention to it?? Especially at 2am, 3am, and 4am when you're sleeping. They don't sound flood warnings like they do for tornadoes. So even if you don't have a phone, you're definitely gonna hear the tornado sirens.
We are taught how to prepare and where to go for safety in the event of a tornado,....get a basement, a low lying area of the house, a closet, an area free of windows. If you're out in your car, seek shelter in a reinforce parking garage or underneath an overpass.
What exactly do you do in the dead of night when there is a flash flood? You have no idea where the water may be coming from or what direction to drive in the dead of night. Its a damned if you do, damned if you don't type of situation. Die in your house or die in your car, pick your poison.
I seen the vid where the people were standing in the doorway of the house with their phones out, videoing themselves being carried off by a raging river. What in the fuck were they supposed to do or go in a situation like that??
These politicians can do all the finger pointing they want, but the fact is, in the vices of Mother Nature,....you're at her peril. And no matter what type of alert you get for a flood......if you're in its path...., there isn't shit you can do.

All the kids that were lost makes that whole thing that much worse!!

this is the worst kind of news, i know they are 'natural' disasters, but the human toll is not just for those who pass, but for those who are also heavily impacted in a very bad way.

shout out to the people of texas.

Live Updates: At least 111 dead, 173 missing in catastrophic Texas flooding, search continues Wednesday

Gov. Greg Abbott says 173 known people are missing after catastrophic flash floods swept through the Guadalupe River corridor on July 4.

This shit is WILD.

In summary:
The NWS issued a flood watch Thursday afternoon, a flash flood warning at 1:14 a.m. Friday, and a catastrophic impact warning soon after. But due to DOGE cuts, it may not have mattered since staff shortages meant the warnings may not have been received and acted upon by people who can sound the alarms locally.

Kerr County sought federal and state funding for flood warning systems, but the Texas state government did not approve or advance their applications.

It's definitely the type of soil we have in Texas. Roads flood in and around San Antonio is common and happen every year. Typically around these rivers and creeks when it rains. There flood meters at most bridges to show you how high and warning to tell you not to try it. Anyway, it's only a thin top soil and mostly stone/ under that so there no where for the rain to get absorbed but these rivers/creeks. So when it rains enough those rivers/creeks overflow and you get flooded easily.

The federal government the drop the ball, but the biggest problem with this situation was the local and state authorities
