I was there. It happened to fast and we heard a loud banging sound heading towards us then i sww the car rammed the pedestrians, bodies flying, then i was grabbed to the sidewalk. I looked back and saw multiple bodies on the ground.
Very traumatic. It was ssupposed to be meaningful cultural event. I just saw bodies man. It could have been me and my friends

Anesthesiologist there. Mass casualty event has been called and those of us off duty may be coming in for backup. We’ll know more soon.

My brother witnessed the scene unfold. He hasn't returned home yet, but called saying he phoned the police after witnessing people get run over, he said he saw people flying over top the car. I hope he is okay

This happened right in front of my home.
I had just reached home when I heard three big bangs and lots of scream. At first I thought it was a gunshot, and when I looked outside the window, everyone was screaming and running away. I could hear one kids screaming “mommy are we gonna die”. It still is ringing in my ear.
There were so many police and ambulance that came by soon after and the whole experience was jarring. It was when I went out to talked to one of the cops, that I realized it wasn’t a gunshot but someone had drove into the crowd, and apparently he thinks this might have been a hatecrime. I could feel my hands get numb because that was more traumatizing than gunshot for some reason. Someone actually driving into the crowd of people doing nothing but having fun as a community?? What the actual hell!
They soon evacuated the area and told everyone to go inside but I could see from my window the paramedics bringing in injured people to the ambulance. I had such a shock because I was literally just there moments ago, I still feel sick to my stomach. The only different between the person on that stretcher and me might be that I got my food two minutes before and I decided to go home to eat…
It was such a good day today and lapulapu festival where the communities came together. It’s insane to think someone would want to harm people like that.
