Movie News: Ryan Coogler & Michael B. Jordan - SINNERS - jim crow era vampire flick (SPOILERS OPEN!!!)

Much respect for Ben Stiller. I have said this before on many occasions, more white people need to start calling out white people on their fuck shit.

I'll never forget in 2010, my now ex-wife was working in the yard and a car full of white kids drove down the street and one of them yelled out the n-word and drove off. One of the kids that lived two doors down walked out to the middle of the street and yelled out, "HEY, THAT IS NOT COOL."

That's what it takes. It takes white people letting other white people know that that shit is not acceptable

I mistakenly thought Variety was somehow BETTER than this.

I could not have been more wrong.

Post of the month

Sinners boasts the best Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score of Coogler’s career at 97 percent. It was also graced with an impressive A CinemaScore from audiences and perfect scores on PostTrak.

The male-skewing movie is playing to an ethnically diverse audience, with Black moviegoers making up 38 percent of ticket buyers. White moviegoers made 35 percent, followed by Latinos (18 percent), Asians (5 percent) and Native American/Other (4 percent), according to PostTrak.

Sinners boasts a strong start for an R-rated, original period genre pic and is the best start for any original film since pre-pandemic times, when Jordan Peele’s Us opened to $71.1 million in 2019.

Where the gif of this moment...
I stood and clapped as she walked away.
And Pearlines husband doesn't even know about her wild night and what happened to her.
what happened to the white girl’s husband in Arkansas? Mothafucka couldn't even bury his mother-in-law. Did we ever worry about the families of dead folks in movies before Sinners?

Yes there were Chinese Grocers in the Mississippi Delta but many of them like most immigrants subscribed to anti-blackness in order to obtain upward mobility in America. See Asian-Americans in an Anti-Black World on yt. Here's a short clip on chinese in the delta. See Gong Lum V Rice.Again I enjoyed sinners but there was some classic hollywood romanticizations in the film. Now people on twitter acting like Asians have been our best friends this whole time... weirdos #SinnersMovie

I found the ch clip zay put us on to.

I never been a big fan of Vampire/zombie or any horror flicks...But I was gonna support since it was a black cast and directed by Ryan Coogler I was gonna support eventually maybe buy it ondemand at home in a month or so.

But after seeing the response and hearing how deep and black focused it is....I'm gonna support this brotha and go with the wife this weekend.

Oh He's at his best when directed by Ryan Coogler....they're a team like Spike/Antoine Fuqua and Denzel, Scorsese and Deniro/Dicaprio, Tarantino & Sam Jackson, Coen Brothers and Frances McDormand etc.

we had dudes saying that he COULDN'T act PERIOD

you cannot see these performances and say that even if it was only 8 times

A lot of this so called actors ain't got even ONE

I posted on social media defending Michael B Jordan and his acting, which is underrated

**

Saying that Michael B Jordan isn't that talented is a BIG stretch. I'm a bit of a cinephile, so I've seen average to middling & even bad actors with no presence, and a lack of an "actor's eye" (delivering lines without conviction). That's definitely not him

Your last sentence (The talent is in him he just has to bring it out.)

**

There is something that can be said about the actor's eye, that focus. That seeing shit that ain't there and having your mind and I trained on seeing that that ain't there and having us believe what's not there is really there because of your look.

It's that dialed in look. I love that. I love seeing that

There was a Chinese grocery right in my neighborhood where i grew up. We called it the "Chinese" store. we walked or rode our bikes to it damn near every day when i was a kid. The owner was Joe Holmes.....can't remember his wife's name she worked the register. we use to save our pennies and trade them in for quarters to go buy shit and play the arcade games. The first place i played Donkey Kong was at his store.

So soon as i saw it in this movies i was like Damn i miss Joe.. he was cool as shit...never said a foul word to us....hell one of my friends (he was a little younger than me) would steal a bag of chips almost every time we went there..... Joe knew it.....never said a word to him. lol

Like that Talk to me as well, but yea the horror one that came out, caught me by surprise. I watched it cause wasn't shit else to watch on a chill day and they actually did a good fucking job. I was entertained throughout the whole thing. Practical special effects, no cgi bullshit. I didn't find it scary but it's a great horror film, I can't say there's really any slow moments in it. It's one that I'm ready to line up for the next "nextflix & chill" session. There's a pretty dope twist in it as well, won't spoil it in case you decide to check it out.

Shit...the only "Talk to me' I was familiar with was the one based on Petey Greene...Had no idea that the other horror flick with the sista as a lead even existed. I just checked out the trailer and put it on my watchlist...

Good looking out for the recommendation

The store owner knew. What you don't understand is that his mother had an arrangement with the store proprietor. If I had to take a guess, I would say the friend is annoyingly religious.

As children, we really believe we are excellent thieves. The adults know what we're up to. What we don't calculate is that adults have the ability to reason.

Salute for being the first to expose Variety bloodsucker ways...

They love the blues but hate the people who make it
No, they're looking for hate clicks, and they barely got anything. I don't think we as a people read Variety. So they released an article from the other perspective.

This entire ownership story seems contrived. We have folks taking about seeing a movie 3 times at the highest price level. I watched the 15 vs 5 pers video but I wasn't going to see the film in imax with the splashing mist.
