To even touch the surface of type one civilization, we have to get a lot of things in order on earth. Political, social, and religion have to be put in check to achieve a higher civilization type. Honestly, I think the main problem for earth is religion, greed and racism. I believe in God, but I am not religious. I feel religion is holding this world back from taking the next step. I hate to say this, but we may have to go through and “survive” a major global disaster to even touch a type one civilization status.

Anything with mass, can't travel at the speed of light (not even near the speed of light). The more faster something moves, the more its mass increases, so more energy is needed in order to achieve those speeds and we don't even have fusion (yet).

Those are just a few obstacles to overcome, not to mention structural materials that can withstand those speeds and withstand damage from radiation and space particles at those speeds.

I am not 100% sold on that rule in physics. If you have the proper shielding surrounding a large structure you can bend space around that structure and move faster than the speed of light. Now they may not never get to this equation for another few hundred years if we are still around but I think it’s possible.

This is an interesting thought. If you look at us from an advanced species' perspective, we must seem something like an ant colony. We can send an explorer ant out a little ways, and it can look around and report back, but we really can't do much more than that.

I agree. In a situation where one is forced to collect and horde resources to ensure survival for a next day is pure instinct. To purposely restrict access, deceive others and hide said resources is something else.
