Tesla Models S and Y drop price by $10,000 Again.

Yea makes sense. Personally not for me (just don't like the look of em, and out of my price range anyway I ain't gonna lie), but I also truly don't know how they're ever gonna make the FSD work in the real world. Not just them but auto makers in general. Liability-wise, I think insurers are going to charge both arms AND legs to cover that shit. Not to mention getting that past regulators.

Might be the old-schooler in me, but I wouldn't want to be on the road with a bunch of heat seeking missles tambout "Sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" coz of some software glitch. I know humans are just as prone to disaster, but again they gonna have to REALLY convince folks that tech is trustworthy and sound. And that they aren't just selling a fairytale.
True, irresponsible drivers who put too much faith in FSD on today's roads may be a hinderance. This may be a tall ask, but if governments adopt FSD as part of the future, then city planners can dedicate lanes to autonomous vehicles.

Good point, I hadn't considered that. Separating regular traffic from automated would be the move to make it work FrFr.

My first EV was Tesla back in 2018, switched to my first Taycan in 2021. I like the porshe better than Tesla. Just took the 2021 back and copped a 2024 Tacay Turbo S. Way better than Tesla
Here's mine. I like it quite a lot but I'm a BMW die hard. I just prefer BMW's coachwork and electronics better but no one builds a better suspension than Porsche.
This Taycan rides like a 7 series on rough roads but behaves like a 911 on the highway.

Its a 4S loaded with everything except the expensive stereo. I have Bose.

Thank you. Yes, Killa was one of the first to get one in like 2021. It's such an exhilarating ride. And when you pull up, everybody wants to talk to you.

That's dope

Fuck him, that company, and anybody else who buys those toy cars should be kidnapped taken to Dubai and forcefed fresh 98.6 degrees human shit or waterboarded with smoldering hot diarreah until they die.
Damn man... Did Elon talk bad about ya Mama or something?

Those fed and state credits mean nothing unless you need them come tax time. Many don't see that unless you own a biz.

Same as trying to push solar panels with govt incentives. So expect to pay $12k above what they're listing as the prices on them cars. Not getting that off walking out the door.

During the August 22 call between dealers and the IRS, several aspects of how this new rule would work were discussed, all of which are subject to change. In broad strokes, here is what you need to know about changes to the EV Tax Credit under IRS Section 30D:

  1. Starting January 1, 2024 a consumer wishing to buy an EV can elect to transfer their potential $7,500 EV Tax Credit to a participating dealer to reduce the purchase price of the vehicle.
  2. Initially, the ability to transfer the $7,500 EV Tax Credit from the consumer to the dealer will be limited. Dealers must register with the IRS to participate… and they are reluctant. Simply put, dealers are concerned the new rule essentially makes them liable for the $7,500 until the government is satisfied that the consumer qualifies for the credit. Dealers are unwilling to accept that liability. During the working group call, I heard dealers mention several times that they experienced huge losses during the circa 2009 Cash for Clunkers program, with one small dealer stating that they failed to recoup around $250k because the government put the burden of eligibility on to the dealers without clear guidelines. No dealer that remembers Cash for Clunkers will rush to register to participate in this new program.
  3. The $7,500 EV Tax Credit is still limited to eligibility requirements per IRS Code 30D (see below for details). The consumer still has the responsibility to verify, via year-end tax filing, that they were eligible for the credit. Dealers are understandably loath to get between their prospective customers and the IRS.
  4. It is unclear when the dealers would receive the EV Tax Credit that a consumer transferred at the time of sale. Dealers want to be reimbursed as soon as possible. Any delay beyond “immediately” effectively extends credit to the US Treasury, and dealers are loath to do that, too. This is an additional disincentive for dealers to participate.
  5. During the working group, there was a discussion on having a consumer be “pre-approved” for the tax credit. While this is not necessarily how the new rule will eventually be implemented, any pre-approval process would be tentative. This is because pre-approval would be based on the previous year’s IRS filing, and the tax credit requirements are for the current tax year.

Actually you do. If you lease the car you get the $7500 at the time of leasing. If you buy the car, all you have to do is plan ahead and make sure you minimize your withholding in order to owe a lot of taxes. Most high income earners who buy these cars owe enough in taxes to get the credits.

The tire issue is crazy!!!!

This is why you should only buy proven high quality products when you spend a lot of money. In this case you buy from a company that takes engineering as a serious matter. Porsche , BMW , Benz, Cadillac, Toyota and Genesis.

What I would like to do is set up our own car company, rather than having to deal with other groups.

I know with housing the prices are cut in half if the owner is black trying to sell. I guess the UAW did not get this memo that your labor is worth less if you are black. This is another reason to set up our own instead of buying these worthless TV stations.

They're trying to bring Chinese companies over here, culturally it would not be a good fit. We already have enough Asian companies over here making cars. I would deal with them through intermediary selling a component but that's about it.
