{~}Official 2022-2023 NBA Thread - it’s that time again, this thread coming to a end

This the way of the sports world in my opinion. Reminds me of how the elite QB’s in football are constantly “one-upping” their contracts and haven’t won a ring. We all know that Tatum will have the “richest deal in NBA history” next year and then whoever the next Superstar who is eligible will beat out Tatum. But they are just going to be too heavy with no money to improve the overall team.

But like Teague said, most players would rather have the “richest deal in NBA” history than a title. Nothing wrong with that from their standpoint but as a fan who reaps no benefits from seeing these dudes get paid, I’d be upset if all the money is tied up on dudes that will never win anything together.

Didn’t seem like they much of a choice. Either pay em or lose him for nothing. I know they didn’t want to.

But it’s amazing to see an actual wealth gap in the NBA among players.

And that’s why being a professional athlete is dope. If only all companies compensated employees on what they make the company regardless of their contribution to the organization. Look, I dont care either way about what they pay these dudes but be smart with your money and who you’re essentially handcuffing your franchise to cuz regardless of the money the owners make, they still have a salary cap. This ain’t Baseball. They can’t afford to give these contracts to every star player. There’s no way in hell I’ll give you the richest contract in league history to NOT win me titles if I’m an owner. Jaylen Brown should be judged according to his salary now. But that’s my point, these dudes getting paid before they ever win, what will make sure they have that hunger to win. Plenty of fans get robbed cuz now the players are “fat and full” and the fans are helping pay that salary. I’m only a fan and as a fan I want to see my team win. Not see Ben Simmons and Zion Williamson type dudes sitting on the sideline rich as fuck not doing shit and ain’t never done shit.
I understand that but that’s the owners fault lol. The owners are the ones that are in favor of having a maximum number of what a player can get paid, a cap # of that teams can spend, etc. because they don’t want to pay the players their true value. Teams should be able to spend whatever they want to win, if they want to win. But the owners don’t want that. They want to limit players earnings, why wouldn’t you then as players, get last dime that you can out of these mfs….if you own a team and don’t want to spend, get the out of the business

We were a finger roll away from a championship but every Knicks fans KNEW who we had in Anthony Mason.

Go read blood in the garden

Not now

But right now

I don't think it's a coincidence that things seemed to change when Chris Paul became president who represented for the stars and superstars

The separation is wild and can't work long term.

All I've ever said. Dawg was getting put out in the 1st round by the hawks after getting a ring. We'd kill kobe and mj for such

Yup agreed

Easy fix though

No salary cap.

There done

Do it like baseball

The owners GOT the money

Stop with rules made to protect the owners from themselves.

Let them spend.

The draft pick restrictions were made just because TEAMS were making dumb trades.

In fact they should abolish the draft or make it more of a pardon the term "auction"

Keep the order and now you have the right of first refusal

after that first round picks get to go to the highest bidder.

And the draft order should be the BEST record of the bad teams get the best odds.

Y’all need to stop equating dollars to championships. The teams and owners make billions wether the teams win or loose. So the players should be compensated on par to what the league makes. Per CBA, the players make 51% of the pie, which used to 57% before the 1999:2000 CBA, whichever year the lockout happened. Players would be getting paid a lot more right if they able to win that lockout. The owners knew big money was coming into sports….

Yup

You cannot ignore Harden playoff failure, lack of defense and lack of leadership.
Facts. And I'm not even saying harden is better. Just Wade ain't who folks make him out to be without Shaq or Bron. Folks say Shaq was washed when he was there. But Wade couldn't manage to get out the 1st round once he left. Like Jeff said miami was trash when it was left to Wade to manage

Wades legacy is 1 great finals run and being Brons wingman. He's a lesser Russell Westbrook (cause russ has better stats) if shaq and Bron don't come to Miami

Yeah, but then I believe they should reduce teams. This gap exist already because small market teams hardly wins anything or gains any superstars long term, until recently with Denver, Toronto, and the Bucks getting a ship.

Now they are taking about expanding to two more teams. It’s going to look real crazy in the league wages-wise in the next 5 years.

That makes sense. Boston about to have two guys making over 300 million and the rest of the team making a fraction of that. That’s crazy to me.

I was telling someone last week, that Harden is going to have the most polarizing post NBA career in how he's going to be remembered.

If people thought Melo was bad, wait for Harden. All the other shit is going to overshadow his actual play and his highs.

Kyrie basically said you're a better actual point guard than me.

Not good, because you have people like Steve Balmer who would just buy a team.

Some of these dudes are rich rich, and if you thought a team of KD, Kyrie and Harden was bad, it would get worse.

I understand your points

They are valid

But we COULD do the same to Kobe whenever fans try to put him over LeBron.

So much of this stuff is emotion and being IN THAT MOMENT.

No kid born in the late 90s REALLY understands just how good McHale was.

Or Ron Harper

Or Kevin Johnson

Or Mourning

to an entire generation Harper Johnson and even Mourning were just "good" players

But those of us who actually WITNESSED it know.

I SAW Wade since his rookie year

And he was BETTER than Harden

(In my humble opinion)

But also what hurts Harden is the system he played in and all these white boy stat nerds saying he was Jordan of his era.

Steve Cohen rich rich

Baseball does it

They'll be fine.

Sell the team, partner up whatever.

No rebuttal as I completely agree sir.

And don’t mind me, I’m just salty the Nuggets were essentially “hard-capped” into losing Bruce Brown cuz they couldn’t spend over that damn “Apron” even if they wanted to

I think if he ties Kobe in rings, he will be regarded as the better player on the all-time lists. If he retires with 4, it's going to be close but I think Kobe would remain the more highly regarded 10-20+ years from now.
Nigga huh?

He not even Snaq status and he’s not even a top 3 Laker of All time.

He will ever be on Kobe level

He’s Steve nash with rings

Just go away

Baseball has a luxury tax that sort of keeps them in line

and it's enough rich people to bid for free agents.

but baseball also has had huge problems with the haves and have nots. It's just that nobody cares, because it's set up for the Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers....all the popular teams.

Milwaukee, White Sox and Pittsburgh are never going to win.

???????
Kobe was losing series to the suns up 3-1

Tim Duncan ain’t never losing to no fucking suns twice in a row

He gets the Spaniard and the legacy keeps going.

Wade was winning playoffs series as a rookie nigga while Tobe was air ballin against shandon anderson

Man stfu

White sox are not a professional sports team

They are a grown man version of a little league team

And they have the worst owner and GM and President of all time in any sports catagory.

Jerry hated paying Mike in 96-97 and 97-98

Fuck that Nigga forever

I wish Mike woulda went downstairs to the knicks instead of taking the elevator to meet the jerrrys back in 97

Can u imagine Mike and Pat with Camby Spree and ALLEN Houston

Mike woulda gat his 3 peat from 98 finals 99 finals and easily 2000 finals then he retires and never comes back.

If only

What he win as a rookie? A series? You get rings for a series now? I know after he got his ring and he was pose to be at his pinnacle he was getting escorted out the playoffs in the 1st round. B4 Bron came and saved him.

Did Kobe start a playoff game his rookie or 2nd year???

We talking about Eddie jones back up?????????????????

Wade came into the league a star and had plays ran for him

They traded they entire team to get Snaq to play with him before his 2nd year even started. And he had to play under riley for half a year and got his ring.

Kobe would never win a ring with Riley as his coach.

I’m taking WADE making buzzer beating shots in the playoffs his rookie season than Tobe bench air balls against FUCKING SHANNON ANDERSON AND Gerald Wallace

And the year after he got his ring he broke his shoulder and was playing extra hurt when he got swept by the bulls

Wade saved Lebron nigga

The fuck

Lebron was getting his ass clapped by Detroit in 2006 in the playoffs and then the magic :puke:

He came to a nig wit a ring to show him how to win

He first ring will always have Wade name on it

Wade has a ring without Lebron name on it

Sorry

But I get what u saying tho ku

U basically talking about Iverson who was a playoff early exit almost every year except 2001

KG too

You're supposed to give actual examples since you know him so well
I dunno..it just looked to me like during the allstar team pick show with lebron...kd seemed to slow on the uptake that they were just fucking with him... his facial response seemed to be "how do I take this?" there have been other times where he seemed kinda awkward in his response to a question or statement. I'm not saying he's debilitated with it...just slightly off a bit :dunno:

Wade did not save bron. Bron came to Miami and took over. Wade gladly took that back seat and rode off to 2 more rings.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Wade and riley showed Bosh and Lebron how to win

Only suckers and non leaders go to somebody else team

Nigga can u imagine Isaiah going to the Celtics to “take over” and have bird take a back seat?

Huh

I’ll never forgive that Nigga for allowing wade to lose to the team he beat by himself in 2006

Nigga was trash in that finals

JJ barea and jason kidd was giving it to that nigga

You can never find pictures of fucking marquis daniels or Devin harris locking up wade like this

Ever nigga

If harden wasnt clink clacking in that finals in 2012 then Lebron would have lost 3 in a row

WADE KOBE SHAQ CURRY never lost 2 finals in a row

Ever

I got you bro, it pisses me off to. Miami's punk ass owner has been cheap as fuck lately....which is why we have mostly D-leagers trying to make something happen to no avail...

I think it will work

So many billionaires want in

Move a team to Seattle put one in Vegas

You will have a STAMPEDE of wannabe owners.

Look at Atlanta and DC :dunno:

It's bad when the franchises are so bad that it stops players going to great cities.
