{~}Official 2022-2023 NBA Thread - it’s that time again, this thread coming to a end

Kid still attention whoring for social media likes.
maybe, maybe not :dunno:

I saw some shit trending earlier this week where dude did the same shit and then :itsawrap:
Ja saw it too. Thats why he did it. He love the likes.

Amajorfucup when he hears a troubled youngster is expressing suicidal ideation:

(I think "He loves the likes" is Andy Rooney-style "this isn't my century" analysis-- He can get the likes plenty of other ways and I would not be shocked at this point if he actually did something. People close to him need to take action if they really care.)

Easy to discount everything you disagree with as old man yells at clouds nonsense. One day you'll realize its probably because i have decades more in life and lived experience and can more easily sniff out bullshit from bird shit.

Hating ass nigga...What 38 year old NBA players plays the full 48 minutes and balls out?

Nah, not everything I disagree with. I think it's apt that your analogy centers around manure, something that has been around since the dawn of man. Bullshit, bird shit, horse shit, cow shit, that was all around when you were a kid. Instagram wasn't.

I'm not sure lived experience is an advantage when you were living in a totally different world. Pushing 40 myself, as someone who remembers a world without a cell phone, it's not super easy for me to relate to these 20 year olds whose version of the 90s era neighborhood mall is an app store. Ja's generation has different boundaries and customs regarding self-expression and sharing. I don't think anybody with a functional understanding of youth culture can look at his behavior and reduce it to "it's all for the likes."

Bonus- Old man yells about children not staring at clouds:

One more item about children and that is the superstitious nonsense that blames tobacco companies for kids who smoke. Listen, kids don’t smoke because a camel in sunglasses tells them to, they smoke for the same reasons adults do-- because it relieves anxiety and depression. And you’d be anxious and depressed too if you had to put up with these pathetic, insecure, striving, anal, yuppy parents who enroll you in college before you’re old enough to know which side of the playpen smells the worst! And then they fill you full of ritalin and then drag you all over town in search of meaningless structure; little league, club scouts, swimming, soccer, karate, piano, bagpipes, water colors, witchcraft, glass blowing, and dildo practice. They even have play dates for Christ’s sakes; playing is now done by appointment! Whatever happened to “you show me your wee-wee and I’ll show you mine?” Hey, no wonder kids smoke; it helps… not as much as weed but hey, you can’t have everything. You know it’s true; parents are burning these kids out on structure. I think every day, all children should have three hours of daydreaming. Just daydreaming – you could use a little of it yourself by the way – just sit at the window, stare at the clouds, it’s good for you. If you wanna know how you can help your children, leave them the fuck alone!

More meaningful in the cell phone and social media age than it was in the 90s! Except now the kids are distracting themselves from the clouds...

Because i cant directly relate to the method of communication or platform, or draw a direct parallel, doesnt mean i dont recognize the personality type or psyche at play.

Human nature or behavior havent evolved w much in 30 odd years. You can search for some deeper meaning or issue at play if you may. I see a poor decision making, immature, attention needing assclown who needs to grow the fuck up.

A lot of psychologists and sociologists would disagree with you about evolution over the last couple of decades.

There is a lot out there on the subject:

I'm not excusing Ja's poor decision-making and recklessly immature behavior-- He is not the only person in the NBA who grew up with social media embedded in his life and brain.

But it just is not reasonable to be certain that this is simple "attention-seeking." He wouldn't be the first to leave a bread trail or even a suicide note on social media, with a mass audience or with virtually none. You think he can't be unhappy and fucked up or unstable enough to kill himself because he's rich and famous?
