Challenger explosion. We were sitting in the school hallway, as Christa McAuliffe was about to become the first school teacher in space. It was a big deal in schools across the nation, so nearly every school had their students tuning in. Once the explosion occurred, they immediately wheeled the TV back into the classroom and talked to us about life being unpredictable. I felt sick the rest of the day.

Once the explosion occurred, they immediately wheeled the TV back into the classroom and talked to us about life being unpredictable. I felt sick the rest of the day.
Pac's death. I was young and dropping my girl off at her job at the mall. They announced it on the radio as she was about to get out and she broke down. We all knew he had been shot, but no one expected him to pass away. We both just kinda sat there in shock.
On a random note, homie at the 0:30 mark of this video is the closet thing I've ever seen to Tupac. Damn near even sounded like him.

Was in the law library at the University of Texas.
Was on a gambling ship out of Galveston TX and saw the chase on the TV. I started watching and some guys starting teasing me for not gambling and watching tv. I told them 'that's OJ in that Bronco running'. They busted out laughing at my joke. Then they realized it was true......ALL GAMBLING CEASED....lol
9/11/2001 was at the bank negotiating a car loan, saw a group of folks staring at the tv, walking out not really paying them no mind, when I got to the train stat some kid was running through the station yelling "New York just got hit......" got home turned on the telly and the rest is history.

9/11........i was on campus in the library at my college.
all the major websites went down...CNN, MSNBC, Yahoo, ABC News,.....couldnt connect to no domain.
people started whispering about a terrorist attack in NY. i ran to the student union and was able to see on the televisions there when the 2nd plane hit.
i knew right then shit was about to get real. a lot of the student active reservists that were there watching, started getting mobilization calls and their pagers were goin off and shit. it was crazy.
And of course the Space shuttle Challenger explosion...............i was in class watching it live with all the other kids.

9/11 - I just got promoted to a new position at AMEX in Greensboro and I got my car washed before I went in on that first day. I'll never forget how we watched things unfold that day, including losing AMEX employees in one of the towers. We spent most of the afternoon calling to check on employees that had not been accounted for.

i would listen to hot 97 in the morning (cause my relgious household we werent allowed to watch tv sunday morning)
I recall hearing them playing alot of biggie and everyone being sad. This was before the internet and i was half paying attention. It took awhile for me to realize that the he was killed and they were having an improtu memorial on the radio
when Pac died i recall finding out offically getting ready for football practice and alot of cats were Pac fans and pissed
if i recall correctly he didnt die immediately after the shooting and most ppl thought he would recover cause dude was like a cat with 9 lives

Biggie's death - Heard about it the next morning. I was running some errands that morning and my brother left me a note on the garage door as he knew I was coming home shortly thereafter and he'd gone back to sleep. His note read something along the lines of - "Biggie was killed last night. What the fuck?!"
Columbine - had some early classes that day and came home and chilled and made myself some lunch. Flipped on the news ... WTF ... was glued for the next few hours trying to figure out what the hell had happened
9/11 - Had college classes in the early afternoon. Overheard a family member on the phone that morning like - "What the hell is going on?!" - went and had lunch and watched the news coverage. Walked over to the bus stop and traffic was seemingly in slow motion. Bus was extremely quiet - you could have heard a pin drop. People were gathered in the concourse quietly watching the news coverage upon arrival at the campus. Went to class and the teacher asked if we wanted to talk about it and clear our minds. We ended up talking for about 45 - 60 mins and the rest of the time remaining we rushed the lesson
