I think people are making an unfair comparison to then and now. (My last one was in '96)
The wild freanik shit was a subculture. Meant to be a "If you was there, you was there/ If you wasn't, you missed it" type of thing.
The cameras coming out was a borderline thing to a lot of chicks. Only some of them didn't care, where a lot of them didn't want to be filmed with titties and pussy out.
The difference now is that it's no longer a subculture; it's mainstream. And Millennials and GenZ are just using it as an excuse to say, "See? Yall did the same thing." Overlooking that it was a pre-organized event for young people to meet yearly and do what they wanted sexually.
It's
all wild behavior in general.
But IMO, the big difference is that EVERYWHERE/ANYWHERE is freaknik now: Restaurant, wedding, baby shower, protests for social justice, court proceedings, funerals.....
