People in general follow the crowd opinion on a subject even if they deep down don’t have the same feelings.. also popularity matters to a lot of people and they don’t want to go against popular opinion. So if you get the right popular people( in this case artist) to say something most people won’t go against it out of fear of being ridiculed. So when someone points out some corny ass songs others will go but such a such artist praises him and people call him top 5 to defend some of his garbage.. don’t get me wrong there are some songs of his I like but I’m not gonna act like his complexion isn’t significantly the biggest reason why he was able to sell lots of albulms, have such an extended career, and get passes for certain subject matter that others who are black couldn’t do cause they would not get the same love
