@ throwing a fat bitch out the window, thank you. I really do mean that. I am 100% indebted to this board. Y'all got me through a lot of shit.It's literally because of y'all that I believe that I could be a writer in the first place. My man @sakinnuso added a comment to the first writing contest thread on this board. That was the turning point in my life. Up until that point I was wondering, "what am I good at?"
He gave me the belief, the pat on the back that I could be an author and I needed that.
Whenever I start to doubt myself, sometimes I go back to that thread and the words of a complete stranger and I take retrieve some of the power from his words and they propel me forward.
Growing up as a middle kid in the family that I did I struggled to even be seen. Not doing the whole victim thing, but I didn't get a whole lot of encouragement growing up, so seeing this from someone who didn't have to meant so much
I've really used y'all to help mold my writing and storytelling Style. And I've gotten so much better at it thanks to the folks here, past (RIP) and present

I know slick. It's all love. I know anytime someone post anything more than a few sentences Colin Powell is going to come out, I expect it.
It's a BGOL tradition. There used to be a thread with just tons and tons of Colin Powell pictures and gifs. There was one with the Eagles player running with a book under his arm like a football

Our own Tom Clancy…..keep it up. title definitely grabs attention as do the dialogues
I also have short story/prologues to books I’m writing. Would be nice if we have a section for aspiring writers so we could help each other out…or at least a stickied thread.
It took me a long time to get comfortable writing dialogue. As you know you got to literally speak from different voices like different places in your own head and have an actual conversation that two people or a group of people would have.
For a long time I would write sequences and stories where there wasn't much dialogue necessary or even needed, but over the past 5 years I've gotten over my fear and faced it and have gotten a lot better with it

Nah, slick. I just thought I'd share it with the group. The concept is actually realistic if you think about it.
Plus, I no we got some veterans around this place and they could probably feel it more than the civilians can, but with the concept, even as a billion can dig this.
I know it's kind of long per se, so I can understand the Colin Powell references, but I like to add stuff like this to the board. I learned a lot about how to write just from writing on here, sharing on here

Do I think they told a lie about bin laden? Probably. Can I prove it? No. Do I think they were not 100% above board about what happened? Absolutely
But real talk, vet to vet, 12 years Navy to whatever your branch of service was, what was your opinion? What did I get wrong
