I understand what you're getting at, but please excuse me if I still don't see it the same.
Seldom, if ever, did we see actual gay acts onscreen. It was effeminate men with the implied concept that they were 'that way'. Their sexual preference wasn't at the forefront of their portrayal in the way of kissing or fucking. It was purely comical and they, in no way, were subjected to the menial existences that Black actors had to play.
And as someone earlier said, being Black is something that doesn't require an action to see. No further methods are needed to prove it on film. Alphabets can't say the same. Some become caricatures of gayness. Especially when the cameras roll.
Show me the movies (not newsreels or propaganda documentaries) that had even the most effeminate men on screen subjected to only playing junkies, bums, thieves and rapists. You'd be lucky (and I'd be surprised) to find more than a couple, if any. Remember, we don't use the smallest portions of evidence as the sample size. We use the largest. And no group had to endure what we did.
Society didn't tolerate gayness back then. But the closeted gay execs in hollyweird didn't allow themselves to be bashed onscreen en masse.
But somehow, they found a way to constantly green light the worst portrayals of us history has ever seen.
They didn't change the playbook. They always had it. And now they are just wielding power like their lifestyle: Openly.
Marvel has made all the alphabet heros black. Why is that? Black male/white female interracial couples out number white male/ black female couples in the real world but watching TV you would never know it. They rarely show an intact black family in movies or commercials and the effect is many of us are programmed to not see ourselves in the future. Many prominent black male reporters or anchors are gay. All of this is no accident. They stopping abortions to make more white babies and hoping we don't make any black ones. Black Hollywood too busy being weird.

If you're referring to the past, we seldom saw explicit straight sexual acts. Films and TV steered clear of explicit sex until at least the 70s. Even Lucy and Desi didn't share the same bed.
And I'm not arguing gays had it worst Black people. I'm just saying they were shown in a negative light when they were depicted at all. They were either cowards, rapists, sissies, or dandies. They were never shown to be heroes or just normal upstanding citizens.
Showing gays in a positive light and including them in many TV and films as a normal part of society is very new.

NOBODY in movies was 'gay'. They were effeminate. And being comic relief isn't exclusive to alphabet experience. Besides, they were often depicted as managers of stores, school faculty, dance instructors, wealthy land owners, theater types etc.. (Not as rapists)

Any role that effeminate men played onscreen was played by whites. Knowing that, there was only so much done to them in movies. The viewer guessed that they were 'sissies'.

As far as media depictions ate concerned, it's all pandering for money. Black Panther, for instance, would never have been made if Disney didn't think it was a great way to get Black dollars. Everything done in the media is about money at the end of the day.
With the Marvel studio movies, the only thing preventing them from going buckwild with aggressive (in lieu of being subtle) gay stuff is the PG-13 rating. Otherwise, they'd prob go HAM with the alternative sexual encounters out of nowhere.

Hollywood, specifically its films, reflects society's expectations and values. This whole "Hollyweird" thing is new and pretty marginal. For better or worse, most people admire what comes out of Hollywood.
