PlayStation ® PS5

One thing I noticed about my PS5 that I dislike is its storage space. I only have 4 PS5 games on its harddrive and it's already about full. I did research about best PS5 external harddrives and then bought a WD Black 5 tb harddrive-in anticipation of Modern Warfare 2 and all the space it will undoubtedly require. I just found out you can't play ps5 games stored on external harddrives because harddrives are too slow: you have to buy and install another internal harddrive, which cost around $200 or more.

So unless people drop more money for an internal harddrive, Modern Warfare 2, and perhaps 1 other game, will be the only PS5 games people can play on their PS5 without moving other PS5 games back and forth from the cloud and an external drive. That's bullshit.

in God of war the marked trees (first main quest), how do you get out of that area with the locked blue mirror/door? Kratos cannot climb, step over anything, or find a path to navigate/leave the area. meanwhile his son is climbing over walls repeatedly. anybody know what part of the game i'm referring to? shit is frustrating.

to clarify, i'm not trying to open that mirror/door thing. i know it's locked and Kratos cannot open it yet. i'm simply asking how to leave an area (such as this one) that Kratos gets stuck in.

Assist.

In God of War 4, from the start you will encounter many "environment puzzles" & "obstacles" (or objectives) that are story-locked early on, and won't become available until you reach a certain point in the main storyline missions. (Those blue mirror doors are a prime example, of an environment obstacle that is story-locked, early on.)

TIP >> Whenever you get stuck & cannot figure out what to do, or cannot figure out how to bypass an obstacle... these 3 things should help you advance in the game:

  1. If you are totally stuck... Follow/Listen to Atreus. He usually stands near (or runs toward) something that needs further investigation... or leads to the next major area of the mission. (However, sometimes you can also find interesting things when you do not follow him & just investigate the area for yourself.)

  2. Tilt your camera and look up & down... and LOOK all around... ALOT. The way the Devs built the game, if you do not MANUALLY tilt the camera to look around - by default - the camera will just bypass ALOT of stuff in the environment like treasure chests, gears, chains, mechanisms, loot, coffins, buried treasure or clues needed to solve environment puzzles. These things are always just slightly out of view... and it is very easy to walk right past them if you do not stop to look around (thoroughly), whenever you arrive in a new area.

  3. Look for yellow runic symbols, graffiti, machine gears, or slightly glowing objects around the environment. These usually indicate various ways you can 'interact' with the environment. If there is a wall that you can climb... or a gap in the floor you can jump across.... it will usually glow slightly, or have yellow painted runes on it.

Press the circle (O) button to climb walls, or jump across gaps.

Hope this helps!

this is EXACTLY what i was looking for
i actually already started doing the first two things on my own tonight and figured it out.
another thing i noticed, is if you aim Kratos's axe at certain objects, the pointer / cursor shines a little brighter.
i also figured out the climbing out of areas thing (the markings on the walls, and atreus climbing in that same area).
took some practice until i noticed you gotta hit up on the left stick & the circle button at the same time
man that shit had me frustrated
won my first boss fight, then promptly landed in another one of those 'areas'
this time my brain figured out that there ' is a puzzle here somewhere' lol

thanks for the breakdown
i love this game now

Glad to help.

Here is some additional info that it took me a looooooong time to figure out in the game. :dunno:

Not sure if you know all of this already, but if not... maybe it can help you (or anyone else) also. :dunno:

----------------------------------------------------------------
COMBAT RATING

- Kratos' Combat Level appears above the stats, on the right side of the screen.

- As his combat level increases, the diamond shape fills up with colored liquid.... and when full, he reaches the next Combat Level. (Personally, I did not notice this for a looong time because the effect is soo subtle :dunno: )

----------------------------------------------------------------
HOW ARMOR WORKS

- Armor categories increase from Common >> Rare >> Legendary >> Epic is strongest.

- Each piece of armor you find will show an "Armor Level" inside of a Diamond shape.

- The small circles seen on the bottom right side of the Armor Level Diamond indicate how much that particular piece of armor can be upgraded.

- If you see 1 small circle it can only be upgraded once. But if you see 3 small circles, it can be upgraded up to 3x times. (See "Upgrade Indicator", in the .jpg below)

- Each time a piece of armor gets upgraded those small circles get filled white.

- Typically, upgrades improve armor by 0.5 levels at a time. (For example: If there are 3 small circles shown on a "Level 6" piece of armor, it means that armor can be upgraded up to Level 6.5 >> up to Level 7.0 >> up to Level 7.5 as each small circle fills in)

- As you upgrade armor, more enchantment sockets get unlocked. (Up to 3 sockets max)

----------------------------------------------------------------
ENCHANTMENTS

Enchantments >>
These are gemstones that you can slot into your armor that further enhance your combat and stats. Each piece of armor can hold between 1-3 Enchantments, as long as it has an available socket. If an armor piece doesn't have any enchantment sockets available, you can usually unlock additional sockets by upgrading the piece of armor at the blacksmith shop. High-level enchantment gems can also provide stat increases, perks, passive buffs and/or combat effects.

----------------------------------------------------------------
THE STAT MENU

Strength >>
Increases damage for all standard attacks.

Runic >> Increases both magical Runic Attacks and Elemental damage.

Defense >> Reduces all damage Kratos takes.

Vitality >> Increases maximum Health and decreases the severity of hit reactions from enemy attacks. (For example: If you had 99 health and increased your Vitality to 17, your max health would rise to 116. Also, the more Vitality you have, the less you will flinch / or get stunned when an enemy hits you... so your counterattacks will occur faster )

Luck >> The more Luck you have, the more it increases the amount of XP and Hacksilver gained from defeating enemies & acquiring Loot Drops. Luck also increases the chances of activating perks from pommels and enchantments.

Cooldown >> Reduces recharge time of magical Runic Attacks, Runic Summons, and Talismans.

God Of War Ragnarok Could Be 40 Hours Long, With 4.5 Hours Of Cutscenes
https://www.thegamer.com/god-of-war-ragnarok-40-hours-4-5-cutscenes/

God of War 4 (2018)

If you play the game casually and balance the story with some side quests... the Devs say it takes roughly about 27-30 hours to finish God of War 4. The Devs also said that the main story missions (alone) take between 20-21 hours to complete, at a normal pace.

baldur-vs-kratos.jpg

God of War: Ragnarok (2022)

The main story missions will be roughly the same length as the last game (about 20-21 hours to complete), but there will be an additional 8-10 hours of side-mission content. So while the main storyline takes roughly the same amount of time to complete.. the side-missions will make the game about 2x twice as big as the 2018 version, taking at least 40 hours to complete. (Awww shit.... Brok & Sindri in the background of the artwork... side by side... getting their melee on ... I see y'all!! )

ragnarok124.jpg

The Devs have said that ALL of the Gameplay & Cutscenes that we have seen in ALL of the footage released for Ragnarok so far... IS TAKEN FROM ONLY THE FIRST 5 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY.:eek:

All of this is from just the first 5... out of 40 HOURS of gameplay?!?!?

Sshhhhheeeiiiitttttttt....... Say Less.

This shit bout to be FLAMES!!!!

Yuji Naka

I don't think he's worked for Sega since 2005 or so and apart from licensing Sonic out to various developers (or Nintendo) for games, Sega still owns and controls the character, so they produced all Sonic games since Shadow the Hedgehog without him.

I know he was working for Square or maybe still is.

The last thing I heard from him was when he posted pics of a trip he took to Michael Jackson's ranch, basically confirming that Michael did work on Sonic 3's music.

that's because the ps5 uses a SSD, which makes it boot / load faster.
Different technology
you raise a good point though

Just walked in best buy in southfield MI and they got them shits just sitting behind the checkout counter for folks still looking.

There’s a rumor I saw a few days ago that a revision is coming next year , either the slim or pro who knows

What is the fucking deal with this gaming generation?

I was active on consoles from the 3rd to the 7th generation and I've never seen a previous generation have this much overlap.

When Kirby's Adventure and Mega Man 6 were released in 1993 and 1994 respectively for the NES, it was a bit of a headscratcher because we were basically at the midway/latter point of the 4th generation. Hell the Japanese were already getting the PS1 and Saturn by the end of '94, rumors about the Nintendo 64 (then, codenamed "Ultra 64") were flying and 1995 was probably the last year of Genesis and SNES being at the focal point of gaming before the changeover. So those NES games (while good games) being released that late was a collective "What the fuck" from us at the time.

We are 2 years in and I'm still seeing the PS4, what is the deal here and I'm wondering if the lingering presence of the PS4 is causing game developers to not develop games to their full potential because they are still have to take into account the PS4.

I was literally a kid so I don't recall the overlap periods.

The key difference to me would be the supply chain and chip issues caused by covid. Not to mention the fact that technology made it much easier for resalers to buy available units before actual gamers. You also had people who were not gamers buying a PS5 for status reasons or just because it was a hard to find item. There probably wasn't enough value in creating games mainly for the ps5 when alot of gamers didn't have one and those who wanted one probably had a ps4 already. It also probably made ps4 more available since clearly most gamers already had one. At one point, I thought I read ps4 sales were not really declining because people couldn't get a ps5. Plus how difficult is it to port a game from 4 to 5 on average.

Quick question:

I've read a couple of articles about the recommended Ultra HD HDMI 2.1 cable and thought I would get your opinions.

How much of a difference does the type of HDMI cable make with the PS5?

Which type are you using?

makes a noticable difference.
2.1 is able to pass significantly more bandwidth (48gbps vs 18gbps)
the result is smoother gameplay due to higher framerates/higher resolution
very worth it in my opinion.

sidenote...when i first setup my ps5 in june and began playing HFW, i noticed the video would repeatedly cut out. Wasn't sure what was causing it, so i went to best buy and purchased a quality HDMI 2.1 cable.
The problem immediately went away and never came back.
