A 40-year-old going up against teenagers and 20-year-olds in most athletic competitions is not going to win consistently, at least not win as much as they did when that 40-year-old was a lot younger.

I think it's like Lebron, with advances in health and training athletes are able to last longer now. They take better care of their bodies, instead of just going out there and playing.

I think I heard earlier in the week, Steffi Graf was over at 30...part of that might have been her decision, because she wanted a family...but think of how many more titles she could have won if she just lasted until 36. Before it was just Jimmy Conners who lasted a while.
