  • Sam's Club and Costco both sell hot dog and soda combinations for just $1.50
  • Sam's Club had better condiments, with sauerkraut and cheese in addition to ketchup and mustard.
  • Costco still wins though, thanks to a more flavorful hot dog and better bun.

Costco is well known for its food court, which is beloved by members.

Costco is especially famous for its $1.50 hot dog and soda deal, which has stayed at the same price since 1985.

Sam's Club, Costco's biggest competitor, offers the same deal, also at $1.50. I decided to try both to see how they compare.

Even though I've had Costco hot dogs before, I was still shocked at how big it was.

It's quite hearty, and it comes wrapped in a paper bag.

The bun was soft and warm, substantial enough to stand up top the hot dog without getting soggy.

The condiment section was less impressive. There was mustard, ketchup, and relish, but it was messy.

Even though it wasn't pretty, a little ketchup was just what the hot dog needed.

Costco used to have onions out as a topping too, before the pandemic, but they haven't returned yet at my location.

The hot dog is already so flavorful, though, it doesn't need more than the condiments Costco has available.

I was especially impressed by the texture of the hot dog, which wasn't too wet or mushy which can sometimes happen.

Costco's hot dogs are 100% beef, made in the company's Kirkland Signature hot dog factories in Los Angeles and Chicago. The hot dog was a great deal, more than enough for a meal.

Next up I want to Sam's Club, which has its own $1.50 hot dog and soda combination.

At first glance it looked similar to the Costco hot dog and came in the same paper bag, though it seemed a bit smaller.

The bun was more plain and softer than the Costco bun.

However, I was impressed by the variety of condiments, like these large sauerkraut packets.

The hot dog wasn't bad, but it was much better topped with sauerkraut, ketchup, and cheese.

The hot dog itself was bland compared to Costco's, and slightly soggy.

For just $1.50, the Sam's Club hot dog is definitely a great deal, but it doesn't compare to Costco's. Costco's hot dog is so impressive that it doesn't need them. It's great with nothing but ketchup.

The Sam's near me is trying to kill their food service area! They used to care about the area but now they have some of their worse workers over there and it seems they are also poorly trained. I used to stop all the time but I walk past because I need more than a person throwing some ish across a counter!

The food service part is where you can basically stick a hooked cane out of a moving vehicle to get workers.... and they are basically proving it... you know they aren't getting that $25/hr. starting pay with benefits like the rest of the employees there

sidebar: just look at them, then look at the cashiers and the rest of the employees

Costco is much better but I tend to stay away from hot dogs unless I'm starving, crap processed junk.
Yo Costco pizza tastes so much like NY Pizza it's crazy.
Before the COVID, I used to go to Costco around/near close to lunchtime and get their pizza.... now I have Costco shit delivered and don't have to deal with parking or the long lines..... delivery is free if it's a certain amount, same with their refrigerated shit on orders over a hundred dollars,,, easily done if I order some of their thick cut bacon and freeze it.... I wonder if you can get their pizza delivered

Sam’s Club is owned by Walmart…so it shouldn’t be a surprise with whatever you find in there.

Costco has reportedly raised the prices on two of its food court items.
According to Business Insider, the national price hikes on its chicken bake and 20-ounce soda were confirmed by a location in Rochester, New York, as well as food courts in other locations.
The chicken bake now sells for $1 more than in June, at $3.99.
The price of the soda has increased by 10 cents, up to $0.69.
According to research compiled by Wells Fargo ahead of the Fourth of July holiday – using data from Urner Barry, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Nielsen and Bureau of Labor Statistics – chicken prices have soared this year.
Retail prices for wings and chicken breasts are up 38% and 24.3%, respectively.
The bank said that soda prices are also up 13% from last year, as well as competing beverage favorites.
Last week, Costco Wholesale Corporation reported net sales of $22.78 billion for the retail month of June.

What do you think? Post a comment.
That marks an increase of 20.4% from $18.92 billion last year.
For the 44 weeks ended July 3, 2022, the company reported net sales of $188.34 billion, or an increase of 16.9% from $161.09 billion during the same period in 2021.

The retail giant did not immediately return FOX Business’ request for comment.

wh the fuck eats a frank with ketchup and kraut ?

actually who eats a frank with ketchup at all except maybe little kids with no home training

What’s interesting about the price of that Costco hot dog is that the price has remained the same since it’s debut over 20+ years ago.

Sam’s Club (owned by Walmart) would love to raise the cost of that thing, but they can’t cuz of Costco.

It shows how the current rate of inflation is primarily corporate greed in this country.

And this addictive shit is still 99 cents.
