No need to research, in my line of work I speak to all 3 letter agencies on the daily. I spoke about this about two weeks ago ref. an uptick in the purchasing of 5.56, and ammo being used in various shootings. The position on AP handgun ammo has not changed and is in fact illegal. Yes, woven Kevlar, plated Kevlar, Gen III, etc are all “bullet resistant” and certain types of metals can eventually crater or pierce, but that’s not discussion. AP handgun ammunition is illegal in all 50 states, rifle ammo is not.

No one has to take my word on it, however unless you have proper licensing and hold a certain type license from the ATF, go ahead and test that water. This is like an intelligence agent telling you, you’re being watched and you go ahead and snitch on yourself . If you engage an attacker with AP rounds in your handgun, you will be prosecuted for being in possession of illegal ammunition, after you are cleared for the legal defense of your person. However, to each their own.. you say AP handgun ammo is legal, the ATF / Federal laws says otherwise‍♂

Furthermore, your source is a National Guardsmen with a tour in Afghanistan…. I was regular AD Army, 82nd Airborne (228 Jumps), 3 tours in Afghan, 2 in Iraq, 1 in Kosovo, 1 in Bosnia… that doesn’t make me an expert on the legality of ammunition. Solid copper bullets are not AP, which is why the ATF specifically calls out Beryllium Copper.

All jokes aside, I carry a pistol, a knife, some 550 cord, and two mags 1 pinned 10rnd, and a 16rnd for everywhere else.. due to DC’s 10 round HARD limit, meaning you can’t have a magazine with more than 10 rounds or they confiscate the firearm and hit you with a felony.

Actually pepper ball guns can be more effective than a real gun in certain situations. In my self-defense classes for women, I recommend always carrying the Byrna pepper ball gun as a backup when traveling at night or out and about. Too many black people attend my shooting classes thinking and claiming they can shoot; get to the range and can’t hit target at 10yrds. The Byrna pistol is gas operated and can be rapidly fired placing 7-8 pepper balls in a 8 inch area at 10yrds easily. 1 hit will generally disrupt or stop an individual. Most people with guns can’t manage the recoil, and fail to have proper grip, cause they lack training and didn’t research before buying their $400 el’chepo Glock.

Yeah, the shit looks nice for certain situations. In others, it will get a woman(especially black) lit up when she don't have to be. Everything is so situational with self-defense.

Well I will just say this, every eligible black person should take advantage of their 2A right. You never know the intentions of those that do not represent B&B people. For instance, the feds just arrested those W supremacists planning to attack the pride people in DC. Though they only had riot gear and claimed to only want to “disrupt” the pride festivities; it’s highly likely they had supporters here in the DMV with staged weapons. Supremacist groups such as the “Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, WLM, the GOP, etc” are all armed to the teeth and their kids. Get your AR15, 9mm, .40, shot gun, and be ready.. don’t sit on the sideline unprepared and unable when they come for you. I’d rather be ready and not ever have to use it on a fellow American, than not have one and fail to protect my family.

I gotta check that...thought you couldnt carry more than 20 and no more than 2 magazines....as such, I thought I could carry one single 15 round magazine in DC (I know you cant purchase more than 10 in DC or MD but most just send it to VA to pick it up)...thanks for the info

I don’t have my DC instructor cert yet, but I do have Utah, MD, VA, and FL… trust me, I have a DC concealed carry permit.. though. In DC, you cannot have a magazine that is capable of holding more than 10 rounds, it has to be permanently pinned or factory limited to 10. In addition no, you cannot put 10 in the magazine and load one in the chamber.. that’s 11 rounds and your freedom. You can only carry the firearm you registered, and only the ammunition for that gun. You can have as many magazines as you can carry, they all have to be no more than 10rnds, and all have to have the same ammo for your gun. So if you are caught with 50 rnds of .38 special, but your paperwork/certificate says you have a 9mm, that’s your freedom, 1 count for each round, and 1 count for each mag exceeding the capacity limit regardless of the physical number of rounds in it.

I think you are wrong on how many magazines you can carry...max is 2 and you cant have more than 20 rounds total...I just took the test couple weeks back but who knows...gonna heed your advice on the 10 max though per magazine...not trying to rock the boat at all

Thanks, when I took the class and applied, they made no mention of the number of mags, just you can’t have any that are above 10. However for information purposes, the exact code is: 24-2343. Ammunition Carried by Licensee.
