It is from the cow's body as well.
Humans cultivate and find food based on their needs.

Cow milk wil negatively affect the lactose intolerant. Sure.
Steak will slowly kill you buy clogging your arteries.

Prolong fasting (24+ hours) is the way to go.
There are many studies showing the positive affects on the body.

I think the issue is...

There is still not a formal guideline to do it.

I've seen A LOT of conflicting instructions

How to start/prep before, what you should eat immediately. What if you have any suger issues or a heart condition or other underlying condition.

The person that presents that in a simple accessible way with formalized guidelines is gonna make a killing.

Yes, you are correct about there not being a consensus protocol from the scientific and medical community. However, it is generally believed amongst dedicated and well-informed practitioners that 24 hours is an excellent basis to derive medium to maximum benefits as ketosis occurs between 12-24hours. Moreover, between the 24-36 hours mark, senescent cells die off via the autophagic process.

The article is written to discredit fasting but look what the doctor who did the study says:


She said she would still recommend time-restricted eating to patients, she said, even though “we don’t have proof.”
