We want what we want when when want it without realizing the hard truth that when you are in the minority with no real political power when those in power call the tune you can either dance or regroup and employ another tactic to achieve success.

Truth be told white people still run this country and they let us know it every day. Do we just accept that and try something else or do we just bitch about how unfair things are and find fault with even the smallest progressive achievement. And even when a little progress is made there are those who say fuck that it's not enough. But saying that means nothing if you do not have the power to effect meaningful change. No group in power relinquishes and equitably shares that power willingly. We must accept incremental change and keep striving to achieve more substantive changes not just say fuck it and rail against small progressive steps that have been made.

The real political power in this country resides in corporate America, the Executive and the Senate. Just look at the makeup of all three. You have one black Senator who is little more than a House Negro and 99 other white Republicans and Democrats who despite protestation to the contrary will only go so far to ensure equality for all. The point is change comes slowly and as the economic decline of this country steadily declines change will occur even more slowly. So when even the smallest gain is made for our people don't belittle it, embrace it and strive to increase it.

I've read the comments decrying the billions earmarked for black businesses initiated by the Democratic Party. I read the opinions that it's just bait and switch or its not enough yada yada yada. But if true, and there's has been no proof that it is, why not adopt at least a wait and see philosophy rather than just dismiss out of hand because it seems too good be true so it can't be. And even if the skepticism turns out to be warranted what really have we lost that we didn't have in the first place. Achieving equality is slow and even slower if you're in the minority but just as it took over two hundred years for us to be freed from slavery achieving true economic fairness and social equality will take even longer but inevitably it will happen if we and those who come after us persevere and not just give in, throw up our hands, side with the naysayers who have adopted a glass half empty way of thinking.
