Real talk, I practiced a lot of my writing on y'all. To keep it 100, it was someone from this board who gave me the idea that I had some actual writing Talent because of their comment on one of my stories

"If you're on the fence about doing this for real, get off the fence and do it because you got some real talent"

it took me some time to believe in myself because I didn't have much encouragement growing up so and it's Place Grew mounds of self-doubt.

When your father's nickname for you was calling you dumb, even though you know your father was a piece of shit, you kind of start feeling like Eddie Kane Jr from The Five Heartbeats

When your mother doesn't give you any encouragement either you end up growing up feeling like you're not shit.

Now, it's an internal battle I fight even though I know better, thinking I'm not good enough. It's tough

Well now that Eric Jerome Dickey is gone there's a vacuum in the black literary space that needs to be filled! That Gideon series could really use an expansion!

Props on ya singing AND writing... I've seen examples of both and you have skills.

Im a bit older than you, and in my day, there wasn't as much support for the arts, for young cats.

Now, you have to be supportive of kids, whether they have talent or not... otherwise, you look like a dream killing piece of shit.

In my day, it was all about being practical.

Bruh, if I had your voice, I'd walk up to fine chicks, all day, serenading em.

First of all, thank you for the props on The Dru Hill song

Secondly, Eric Jerome Dickey was one of my inspirations. The Gideon series was one of my absolute favorites. I trap it up on Twitter with him before about why he chose the names of the characters he did

He admitted his character name choices were a bit lame

I don't believe anyone could truly expand on the Gideon series. It would be like an author trying to expand on The Godfather series compared to what Mario Puzo did. Another author attempted to complete an unfinished Mario Puzo novel and it was less than stellar

The protagonist I have written about 45,000 words for is a black female named Zora Jemison, a bad ass in her own right.

Trained by a military special forces member, she takes out the trash in her own way.

This was a story that was started here on BGOL in a writing contest.

I hope to have End of a Nightmare completed by next August.

Once I complete the editing process for Side Piece: The Naughty Nurse Chronicles Volume 1, I will begin working on End of a Nightmare more, especially since I should be done with school by mid November

Wow! Didn't know you chopped it up with EJD. I always heard he was a cool down to earth dude. As for the names of his characters, yeah I could tell he was trying to be a little colorful in the selections but all of that faded into the background once he started painting the image and history of the various locations the stories took place at. You could tell he'd either visited those places himself or spoke in depth to people that have.

I've read a lot of the stories/tales you posted here but I don't think I remember one about Zora Jemison or the Side Piece Project. If you posted either on the board how about sending me a link!
