Good post Char. Agreed.
What is it with people not getting life insurance.
THIS
The average American citizen ain't got money for that. Folks living from paycheck to paycheck. The pandemic literally showed that. Folks is fronting on social media what kind of money they have. Shit is all smoke and mirrors.
I know this to be true too. I got 150 coming out of every check going into a retirement fund. Shit gets tight sometimes but I gotta do what I gotta do. I dun paid parts for family members and friends funerals because they didn’t have ANY liquid when they died and that is all kinda fucked up for the fam.
My boys ex said to me that my mans caused her nothing but grief and stress. She said this nigga cost me with his gambling addiction while he was alive and now he’s dead and I still gotta pay money for him because there is nobody else. I gave her 500 and we started a Gofundme. Shit is real.
Man we coming out of a once in a generation pandemic and wealth transfer where the already majority check to check population is doing even worse. Thumbing your nose while talking down to mourning poor folk about life insurance policies is douchebag shit. AJ Johnson was a chitlin' circuit comic whose biggest gig was a no pay bit in a cult film from dam near 30 years ago. You cats pearl clutching at his sobbing widow talking about her go fund me page is some ho ass shit.
It aint nice but folks aint wrong tho fam. Life insurance is a must. Our parents knew it. Our grandparents knew it.
We just been folding on what we supposed to do. All those years niggas be living it up (and I used to be in this group too) wasting money on Jordans and Caddies and chrome rims and weed and 20 year old bottles of wine and shit - THERE is the money right there. It aint much but if we knew better on how to manage it this type of thing wouldn’t happen SO much.
Especially to the our celebs. Especially to our comedians. That’s a hard ass life right there.
And when you’re career is in free fall or its gone, the hustle needs to transfer somewhere else. I work with a few cats that were in that celeb life (some locally) and they came to work like I did everyday to make ends meet.
Any one of the celebs publicly showing him love could cover his funeral with less than what they'd blow on bottles at a club or toss at strippers. They don't owe his widow that, but it's not like she's buggin' to wonder why they haven't done it. This seems more aimed at well-to-do celebs than everyday fans.
I was thinking this. I’m not sure. Sometimes people think they are well liked and supported more than they actually are. I know I had a few contacts in Hollyhood doing their thing and when I worked my 9 to 5 instead of following through on projects - the phone just stopped ringing. Nobody cared.
Until someone we all knew died. Even then, pockets wasn’t deep.
