This is typical Nintendo though.

As much as fans like to clinch to a system and claim brand loyalty, the truth is that the console wars are over and have been for a few generations.
All 3 companies has their market and knows that they only have to sell to them to make a profit. Hell if Nintendo released this in Japan exclusively, they probably still sale like hot cakes. Which sucks because there are a few Switch games that I'd love to get but the OG Switch price is still too high for system that I know I'll probably only get like 5 games for. And the Lite can't hook up to a TV.
I honestly have the same problem with Sony. To this day, a brand new PS3 is still 500 dollars and up. Two generations later and they've never lowered the price because they'd never had to. There are enough hard-core Sony fans that they'll make a profit without doing a late in the cycle price drop. I was hoping the PS4 pro price would drop after the 5 released but nope. And I'm not buying a 500 dollars system just to play Ghost of Tsushima and Spiderman.

Not so much to him personally but scalpers in general are a problem in gaming.
Not just gameing, lazy people are buying anything that isn't good and fuel to try to create a world where the only way you can get a non essential items such as a console or any other hot ticket item is to pay a scalper at least double the retail. It's just scummy, but so very american.

It shows the intelligence and lack of self discipline people here have.
All you have to do is not buy from scalpers and the problem is solved. Let them sit on their 3,4,5 consoles forever.
I collect Pokémon cards. The scalping is insidious! I either find a mom and pop spot, or wait a few months.
