How was the return experience to the theater, G?
It was cool. I wore my mask when I wasn't eating or drinking. Hitman's wife's bodyguard what's funny as hell, corny, but funny.

I celebrated going to my first movie and 16 months by sneaking into Fast and the Furious 9 after I paid the sea hitman's wife's bodyguard

That was exactly what you expect...unbelievable X9. One over-the-top thing after the other including surfing on cars that are flipping

Well played! Hahaha ... I was listening to NPR's Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast and they enjoyed it too. Jokingly noted what works for the franchise is not taking itself seriously. Delivering what the fans want these past 20 years ... still to this day one of the best movie experiences I've had was the first movie. Went to the Friday night premiere that year with a friend. We were young college kids ... didn't really know our cars. Place was packed and the majority of the people there were 20 - 30-something car fanatics. People were yelling out the cars that impressed them ... in awe of some of the over-the-top modifications ... "nitro" and all that shit, haha ...

Saw this last night, and thought this was a good movie. I thought this movie flowed well, except the last 20 or so minutes. But overall I would recommend to people to watch it, if they havent seen it.

Divergent On tubi(until june 30th)

I thought this was another decent movie. Not too much bullshit going on. Not too much love story. Just a good ole action flick.

Gold digger killer Tubi

I saw this last Sunday. And this shit was horrible. Its a fucked up story, but the acting was down right ugly. Skip this movie if you see come up.

Victoria Tubi

I actually saw this awhile ago. And this was a pretty good hood movie. All the women in here looks great(Main reason I stuck it through the movie). There was a few parts in this movie where the acting was kind of bad. But it doesn't take you out the movie. Other than that I would recommend this movie.

FAST FLASHBACK FOLLIES

Praise: By now I truly know what I'm going to get with these movies but I was a little surprised by something that happens in this movie but I will get to that in a minute.
This time around the Avengers with Hot Wheels sees Dom having to confront the sins of his past to save those he loves most. They soon come together to stop a world-shattering plot
Actually seeing what was talked about in some of the the first FF films was kind of cool.
I admire all of the people behind the stunts ,visuals and long action sequences.I did laugh at some of the jokes and sometimes unintentionally at some try to be serious moments .
I thought it was funny how one character was sidelined Hannibal Lecter style for most of the movie.
The aforementioned surprise and the line of dialog that goes with it is a MUST see and hear if you have watched any of these movies!!

PROBLEMS: ULTRA predictable!!
As soon as one character appeared I knew how another characters story arc would play out.
Explanations of survival, motivations for revenge and rivalries are flimsy at best. Its like Hey you accepted everything else at this point so accept this !!
It's funny how I pulled up in my seat for one explanation hanging on every word of a character and.....wait ....uhmmm...WHAT?
The fun factor that was the engine of these films is stalling.

At this point if a Fast Furious G.I Joe or Transformers crossover doesn't happen I will be extremely disappointed !! Oh but as one scene played out I said hmm maybe they're planning a Marvel cinematic crossover

Scale of 1 to 10 a 6

Come with a hidden spoilers version of this because I saw it but it wasnt one of those you gotta pay super attention to so my attention wavered

I give it a 6, too. Predictable, but what I expected

The flashbacks...too many. You get it, but they intentionally used extensive dialogue to over explain, that's what brings it down to a 6 for me

Black panther used the White dude and explaining everything to HIM to push the plot, but the way they did it didn't feel like they are forcing the plot and telling us the story we can't see. F9 did it A LOT in this movie...5 times EASY, if not more and IMO that is the sign of poor writing

Was in the mood for comic relief in the form of a BAD MOVIE, and knew that going in, lol. This one delivered. Didn't care about any of the cast members. Hardly any back story. Guy Pearce was good, though he was there for a paycheck. As was Devon Sawa. Knew him growing up - played sports as he was from the area. Most will remember him as playing the crazed fan in Em's music video for "Stan" some 20 years ago or so. The rest of the cast was forgettable, lol. Would have worked better as 1 - 2 episodes of an established series wherein we were already familiar with characters. Instead of a standalone movie at an hour and a half or so. DId like the quiet town setting though.

Lol @ the 20% and 10% aggregate scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

Saw this one the other day. Found it to be a good action flick. Credit to Frank Grillo for being believable too. He turned 56 in early-June, but can pull off the physicality better than many younger action stars, or those who are TOO OLD to still be believable. Thought he was good a few years back in the Wheelman movie. Need to go back and watch the FightWorld docuseries. I only caught a little bit of that one, but it was good.

Grillo was born the first of three boys in a working-class family in New York City, and is of Italian (Calabrian) heritage.[3] He was raised in the Bronx and in Rockland County, New York. Grillo began wrestling at eight years old, and took up boxing at eighteen.[4][5] In 1991, he started practicing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, in which he has studied under Rickson Gracie and holds a brown belt.[6]

Boss Level is a 2021 American science fiction action film directed by Joe Carnahan and written by Carnahan and Chris and Eddie Borey, from a story by the Boreys. It stars Frank Grillo as a retired special forces soldier who tries to escape a never-ending time loop that results in his death. Mel Gibson, Naomi Watts and Michelle Yeoh co-star.

The film was originally announced in 2012 as Continue, and was developed by Carnahan at 20th Century Fox, but it did not move forward. Boss Level was formally announced in November 2017, and was produced by Carnahan, Grillo, Randall Emmett and George Furla. Filming took place in Georgia from March to May 2018. The film was originally scheduled to be released by Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures on August 16, 2019, but was delayed. It was released on March 5, 2021, by Hulu.

Roy Pulver, a retired Delta Force soldier in Atlanta, has been stuck in a time loop, and has learned the day's patterns through many previous loops ...

Checked out a few I sat on for a minute:

Outside The Wire 3 and a half stars (***1/2) Solid and surprisingly grounded sci-fi flick
Project Power 3 stars (***) interesting science based take on superpowers
The Old Guard 3 stars (***) interesting premise marred by an unnecessary bromance good action still

I thought this was a good movie. This is obviously the sequel to Divergent. And I thought this was a good movie.

I initially felt this was running out of stem story wise. But after a few revelations, I was like damn, that's fucked up. And kept me interested in watching this movie. Overall I actually like this movie series. More than the hunger games.

Even though I think this is a good movie I can see why people stopped going to see these types of movies. The market at the time was flooded with This Maze runner and Hunger games came out relativity at the same time.

The hunger games series

I finally watched the movies, and I thought they were good. The only problem I had was with was Mocking Jay Pt.2. I felt there was things that happen that would require. A nice amount of time for the story to progress. I know the movie was split in two parts. And they have to keep things going. But I felt some things was glossed over. Too keep the movie going. Overall I would recommend anyone to watch this series.

The events i felt they glossed over was peetas recovery. Of his poisoned/ hypnosis thing. And katniss sister being killed. Though I can understand katniss saying fuck that and taking out the president a couple days later. She should have taken out everyone invovled.

I like the way they did this. Stuff that happened in the beginning that you completely forget about once you watch the movie and it comes back ( you see how I was completely vague there)

An interesting take on future shit. I recommend this movie if you can sit back and suspend belief for a while and not try to predict the movie you will find yourself immersed in it.

I gave it an 8 and I'm 20 minutes from the end

Thanks for the reviews. Shailene Woodley's a good talent. First took notice of her work about 10 years back. She was believable across from Clooney and company. Good acting chops & chemistry with her co-stars in 2013 and 2014's The Spectacular Now and The Fault in Our Stars too. Wikipedia info and trailers below, for those who may be interested -

The Descendants is a 2011 American comedy-drama film directed by Alexander Payne. The screenplay by Payne, Nat Faxon, and Jim Rash is based on the 2007 novel of the same name by Kaui Hart Hemmings. The film stars George Clooney, Shailene Woodley, Amara Miller, Beau Bridges, Judy Greer, Matthew Lillard, and Robert Forster, and was released by Fox Searchlight Pictures in the United States on November 18, 2011,[1] after being screened at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.[5]

Tracing the journey of attorney and land baron Matt King, who struggles with unexpected occurrences in his monotonous life, The Descendants was a critical and financial success, grossing $177 million against a $20 million budget and receiving acclaim for Clooney's performance, Payne's direction and writing, and Kevin Tent's editing. The film was nominated for five Oscars at the 84th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Payne, and Best Actor for Clooney, winning one for Best Adapted Screenplay. The film also won two Golden Globe Awards; Best Picture – Drama and Best Actor – Drama for Clooney.

******************************************

The Spectacular Now is a 2013 American coming-of-age romantic drama film directed by James Ponsoldt, written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley. Based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Tim Tharp about a high school senior grappling with alcoholism, the film premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, where it garnered critical acclaim. It was released in the United States on August 2, 2013, and grossed $6 million worldwide.

*****************************************

The Fault in Our Stars is a 2014 American coming-of-age romance film[4][5][6] directed by Josh Boone, based on the 2012 novel of the same name by John Green. The film stars Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort; with Laura Dern, Sam Trammell, Nat Wolff, and Willem Dafoe playing supporting roles. Woodley plays Hazel Grace Lancaster, a sixteen-year-old cancer patient who is forced by her parents to attend a support group, where she meets and subsequently falls in love with Augustus Waters, another cancer patient, played by Elgort.

Development of The Fault in Our Stars began in January 2012 when Fox 2000, a division of 20th Century Fox, optioned the rights to adapt the novel into a feature film. Principal photography began on August 26, 2013, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a few additional days in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, before concluding on October 16, 2013. Pittsburgh doubled for all of the scenes set in Indianapolis, Indiana, the novel's setting, as well as for some interior scenes set in Amsterdam.

The Fault in Our Stars had its world premiere at Seattle International Film Festival on May 16, 2014, and was released in the United States on June 6, 2014, by 20th Century Fox. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise given to Woodley's and Elgort's performances and chemistry together, as well as the screenplay. The film was number one at the box office during its opening weekend and grossed over $307 million worldwide against a budget of $12 million. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 16, 2014, and grossed over $42 million in total domestic video sales.[7]

I was turned off at first, by the blaccent, but it was rather enjoyable. It was short too. I think barely an hour and 15 minutes.

Not very MAGA friendly. Probably the best Purge in a while. It was cool, if you were entertained by the previous ones, you'll probably be entertained by this one

They're super heroes at this point. I don't expect realism, the stunts were good and I found it funny. I haven't really enjoyed one this much in a minute.

The Tomorrow War

Fighting and saving the future!!

PRAISE : There are nice set ups for this movie about a man who is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past.
The cast including Chris Pratt,Yvonne Strahovski, J. K. Simmons,Betty Gilpin,Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge and Jasmine Mathews.
I thought Richardson was absolutely hilarious in this.
There are some shades of Terminator mixed in to the story
And it posed the question what if you knew your future and it was a bleek one? Would you try to alter it even at the cost of other's?
There are some very impressive action sequences throughout the movie.I actually wondered how they would have looked in 3D.
There's some funny one liners and banter weaved into the film.
I wasn't expecting all of the humorous moments in the movie so that was a nice surprise.

PROBLEMS : Some predictable paths and plot holes.
I know the writers were trying to give the film some dramatic weight with bonding moments but I felt every minute of most of them and a 2 hour and 20 minute run time wasn't really necessary.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 7½

The Ice Road

Did the History Channel produce this?

PRAISE: I have woken up in the middle of the night and watched Ice Road Truckers on the The History Channel a couple of times. What the truckers deal with is pretty treacherous but they don't deal with the sinister doings in this flick about a diamond mine collapsing in the far northern regions of Canada, an ice driver leads an implausible rescue mission over a frozen ocean to save the lives of trapped miners despite thawing waters and a threat they never see coming.
Liam Neeson is always watchable as is Laurence Fishburne.
I actually found the scenes that featured what long haul truckers do to get out of certain situations interesting.
Some of the scenes of icy and dangerous roads are stunning and fun.
I actually liked one of the twists in the film and found it amusing and fun at the same time.
I really liked character Amber Midthunder Tantoo in the film she was humorous and feisty.

PROBLEMS: I guess the writers loved Of Mice and Men because they throw in a couple of blatant nods to that story.
Some of the movie looks like it was shot on a cell phone and the explosions were made with the worst CGI.
I laughed when I saw Matt McCoy in the movie because I usually only see him in lawn mowing and insurance commercials .
There are HUGE visual and story plot holes.
The acting especially by the miners was so laid back I laughed a couple of times at their delivery, especially when their fates took a couple of crazy turns.
I got so bored with the story after about an hour I started to think about what I would like to have for lunch.

I didn't watch Ice Road because the Industry has typecast Liam (I'm sure HE'S not mad) and spoonfeeding us this Senior Citizen as the same damned Action Hero and all they do is change his location. FOH.

The man has played the same role from Taken ever since that movie came out. Hell, I mean they aren't even shoehorning Harrison Ford into those roles anymore, WTF?

After reading your review, I might get around to it around Halloween or something.

Agreed. At least make it more believable. Watched the movie Boss Level recently, and credit to Frank Grillo. Was saying earlier in this thread that in his mid-50s he's actually convincing as he's a health nut & looks the part. Add some HGH and whatever the fuck else ... believable.

American Pie: Girls rules Netflix

:smh::thumbsdown:
This was the first American pie sequel, that is fucking garbage. I remember when National lampoon was rolling out the American pie sequels. Without the main cast. And thought these movies are going to be horrible. But all the sequels ended up surprising me. And were actually solid movies. Well up until now. This is a mostly female cast. And this movie story and the jokes mostly falls flat. I chuckled at a few parts, but this is a forced unfunny mess. If your curious in watching this I would stay away. There's tits and ass shots, but no nudity in here at all.

No sudden move. I can't wait to see 2hat @joneblaze Has to say about this one I give it a good 7.5-8

Great cast, great acting

I thought it had a great start and of course the acting was top notch.I liked the calmness of the outcome and kind of laughed and said wow was so this was all the fuss about It slows down and meanders here and there i guess SS was experimenting with new visuals or something which took me out of the film at times.
