A couple of quick reviews:

Wrath of Man - solid action, gangster flick that starts off slowly but pays off big by the third act. Not Statham's or Ritchie's best work but watchable still. I missed Guy Ritchie's "visual funk" from his earlier work but it wouldn't have fit the more serious tone of this film. 3 stars(***).

Spiral: From The Book of Saw - Okay at this point either you love or hate the "SAW" franchise so if you hated the others don't bother. Me on the other hand, loved the "SAW" movies and this is one of the better entries since it has A listers Chris and Sam. They both do what they do best and finally there is some humor in a "SAW" film. Highly Recommended for "SAW" fans. 3 stars (***).

If y'all haven't seen Army of the Dead on Netflix oh, check that shit out it's pretty dope
@lenny mean, it's a zombie movie, so you have to suspend belief and just enjoy it for what it is at some point

Is it the greatest movie ever? No, but was entertaining and held my attention

Spiral: From the Book of Saw

More laughs than scares

PRAISE: I cant believe it's been 4 years since the last SAW movie because the fims used to hit theatres every year. One of the good things about this horror flick is that Chris Rocks finger prints as producer are all over it.His brand of humor is infused in this movie about Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks and his rookie partner take charge of an investigation into grisly murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city's gruesome past.
There are some good kills and laughs and sprinkle in some Samuel L Jackson for some trademark MF moments.
Gore is drawn out just enough to make the audience cringe and squirm.

PROBLEMS: Far to predictable, after 45 minutes it was obvious who the "new" Jigsaw was.Rocks acting was way off and forced in this one.
There is a hollow and amateurish feel to the whole movie. It felt like I was watching a low budget horror flick that pops up on The Movie Channel or SyFy.
All to brief moments from Mrs Jackson

Scale of 1 to 10 a 6½

XTREME

RELENTLESS REVENGE !!

PRAISE: A dash of Gladiator (2000),a few pinches of Death Wish and a shot of adrenaline and you have Extreme a movie about A retired hit man along with his partner seeking her own vengeance and a troubled teen takes revenge on his lethal stepbrother.
Teo García is terrific in the lead role. Óscar Jaenada and Sergio Peris-Mencheta from Snowfall are great as unflinching and sadistic villains.I was shocked at how much the movie pushed it to the limit with the brutality
The action sequences are sharp and well choreographed. I enjoyed the realistic hand to hand combat.
This was an easy and highly entertaining watch if you like intense action this one is for you.

PROBLEMS : A couple of plot holes and a couple of scenes were beyond unbelievable.

Scale of 1 to 10 an 8½

Wrath of Man was pretty damned good.....a couple minor potholes.....

But pretty nice action....

Guy Ritchie isn't gonna revolutionize or reinvent shootouts....but the final action scene was good....I'd give it an 8/10.....

Probably gonna watch it again....

like his last film The Gentlemen....a solid effort nothing, groundbreaking but worth a second look

Saw a couple of movies in recent days. North Hollywood and Don't Tell a Soul.

North Hollywood was easily the better of the two, but we already knew that going in having quickly glanced at reviews.

The former was a coming of age tell dealing with high school skateboarders' friendships. Had some heart to it, and good performances from the younger cast. The music / score was good too. Looked up a couple of tracks afterward. The movie may have even worked well as a limited series (say 6 - 10 episodes). I.E. - get some more of their back stories, and what moves they planned on making next. What was refreshing to see was the maturity in the characters. Calling their friends on shit & being honest with them. Usually you see that with older peoples' friendships and dynamics, compared to the high school crowd.

Don't Tell a Soul has more of a bleak feel. Good performance from Rainn Wilson in his limited scenes. Funny watching the scenes with the 2 brothers. I wasn't familiar with the older brother's work, but didn't think too highly of his acting. Whereas I know the other kid's work (Jack Dylan Grazer) and he's talented and believable. So in all their scenes together, he outshone (outshined?) his bro. Enjoyed some of the twists and turns later in the film, though you have to suspend your disbelief as it's a shorter film clocking in under 1.5 hours.

Checked this one out yesterday. Strong ratings & aggregate score on Rottentomatoes. A family member recommended it. Ben Foster's always good in his roles. Credit to Thomasin McKenzie playing his daughter. She held her own throughout - believable and understated. I was only familiar with her work previously in Jojo Rabbit. Some of the later beats in the movie reminded me a bit of Nomadland.

Leave No Trace is a 2018 American drama film directed by Debra Granik and written by Granik and Anne Rosellini, based on the 2009 novel My Abandonment by Peter Rock.[3] The plot follows a military veteran father with post-traumatic stress disorder (Ben Foster) who lives in the forest with his young daughter (Thomasin McKenzie). The novel is based on a true story.[4] It premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and was theatrically released by Bleecker Street in the United States, on June 29, 2018. The film received universal critical acclaim, with praise for the performances of Foster and McKenzie, and it is the most reviewed film to hold an approval rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Try story a Bernardus Andries "Dries" Riphagen (7 September 1909 – 13 May 1973) was a Dutch gangster and Nazi collaborator who is best known in the Netherlands for collaborating with the Nazi Sicherheitsdienst (SD) to locate as many Dutch Jews as possible and have them delivered to Nazi concentration camps during the occupation.

INFINITE HEAD SCRATCHER

PRAISE: Mark Wahlberg brings his usual swagger and mannerisms to the table in this movie about the hallucinations of a schizophrenic are revealed to be memories from past lives where he obtained talents that he still has to this day.
The story is set up well enough and made me think about reincarnation and if I would go weary from it.
Some moments in the film reminded me of Highlander and Avengers: Infinity War.
I have to say I enjoyed Chiwetel Ejiofor's wicked performance, I felt it made the film more watchable.
There are great "MATRIX" like characters sprinkled through out the movie.
Jason Mantzoukas as Artisanwas was a hilarious stand out.Good action sequences, SFX and definitely some unique sadistic scenes.Oh and some cool technology was on display.

PROBLEMS: The movie starts to dig plot holes 20 minutes in.Usually Director Antoine Fuqua can work his way around holes like these but not this time around.
I felt like I was waiting for things to be explained but it never really happens its as if the writers said: oh don't worry uhmm we're getting a sequel.......yeah you will likely have to read the book on which the movie is based titled The Reincarnation Papers.
As the film goes along I felt one characters torturous plight could easily be resolved with all of the tech and.......oh well.....then we wouldnt have a movie.

ThreadingNeedles_movie5.jpg

Threading Needles is a cross between 'Crash' and 'Lakeview Terrace'. Kweku a young African man falls in love with a white woman in America. All seems to be going well until he is faced with two ruthless cops with no agenda, a white cop who despises what the couple represents and a black cop who hates what they stand for.

Seeing the White chick dressed in African clothes was a bit cringeworthy..

Oh and she didnt get neckid in this, but i remember she did in that Jailbait movie(of which there a thread from a long ago where the movie was discussed)

Went to see this at the theater:

So, the pitch meeting for this movie must have lasted about 20 seconds:
Producer: You know how we had Sam and Ryan go back and forth, trading insults while action happened all around them in the first movie?
Exec: Uh-huh.
Producer: Well, we want to do more of that except this time add much more Salma into the mix. She'll cuss and push up her boobs a lot. Oh, and we're going to amp up the violence and gunplay!
Exec: Why are you still standing here? Let's make this motherf......

You absolutely need to see the first one first. This movie is a companion piece to the first one. They do a lot of flashback scenes and a few dream sequences, so this is a bit more comedic than the first movie. They basically made this movie for everybody who liked the first one. At one point, I wondered just how much script there was and how much was ad-libed because they are all "doing their thing" to the tenth power. It was also nice to see Antonio and Salma do scenes together again.
Are there plot holes? Hell yeah. Nobody watches this kind of movie for the plot and nobody who likes fun would complain about the holes. It starts out on one mission and flips to the main mission and filters into the usual buddy action-comedy. If this were the least bit serious, it would get shredded but if you like Sam "motherfuckin'" Jackson, Salma Hayek and Ryan Reynolds, then you should see this. For my first movie at the theaters in a long time, it was worth it. It was between this and "A Quiet Place 2" but I wanted guaranteed enjoyment so I chose this. I think that's what they were thinking when they made this movie: let's just give them exactly what they want (minus Salma's tits out - you're not getting that). There are plenty antics to go around. It almost gets annoying at one point but the fun is the ride.
If you stay to the end past the credits, there is one final "ha" moment. It has nothing to do with the main characters and its not a scene with dialogue, so if you miss it, it won't matter.
I'm not sure if it was just me being glad to be back in the theater or if the movie was just that good, but I enjoyed myself and I think I chose wisely for a theater movie.
I went to a matineé but I'd pay full price for this...but not if you haven't seen the first one.

It's already out on the web
I tried. I got about 33 seconds into the movie. I can't do CAM movies. Its like watching a movie and your eyes are 3/4 closed

There is no HD in HDCAM.

It's so hazy it's like Snoop Dogg is smoking weed in front of me and blowing smoke into the air between me and the movie oh. I don't see how people can watch cam movies. It's just not good

The last time I saw a cam movie I swore I would never watched it like this again. I was in Kuwait and Spike Lee came out with the movie with Denzel Washington, Inside Man

People were passing this bootleg DVD around and when I finally got it I put it in my computer and the camera was so off center it said the movie starred Denzel Wa

I guess that's the Asian Denzel.

Thanks, but no thanks

I did find a copy of Infinite with Matk Wahlberg that's crystal clear. Watching that now oh, not too bad so far
