I dont recall a lot of people being opposed to reparations...haven't seen much evidence of that....also it is better to say American DOS and non American DOS as slavery was not confined to the USA...the ADOS threads should still be on here and I would suggest reviewing the first few pages as that would give you a better sense of how this developed (assuming they haven't been changed)...if somebody explains it, somebody else will just say they are from so and so and they are lying etc

I will gladly link threads about reparations to the Caribbean, they are virtual ghost towns. There is no group of melenated immigrants that proactively promotes reparations to Black Americans. Not one. We do have individual allies, and even they tell us most islanders arent gonna fight white supremacy.

Facts. It should be a constant pressure and a consistent loud voice, not just at election time.
Furthermore, reparations should not be the only factor we consider in choosing who to vote for- particularly in presidential elections.
I agree 100% for immigrants. Reparations should have 0 bearing on who they vote for, because it doesnt effect them or their communities, they arent Black.

We saw the same Congress tell Obama he had to wait until the next election, before they would vote for an SCOTUS replacement.
I don't understand why folks think executive orders are the best way to obtain political goals. They are the easiest to thing to revoke if an opposing administration comes into power.

Is there anyone in this thread actually typing from Africa?
I know this question wasn't for me but I would like to provide my answer. But what I want to see happen over the next two years at a minimum is to see the following passed in the Senate:
- COVID Relief Bill
- Emmett Till Anti Lynching Act
- George Floyd Justice In Policing Act
- John Lewis Voting Rights Act of 2020
The other bill I would like to see pass is the Jobs and Neighborhood Investment Act. It was introduced in the Senate by Mark Warner, Kamala Harris and Corey Booker. Its the only piece of legislation that will need legwork and go through both houses but aside from some form of COVID relief, that's a good foundation of #tangibles in two years this. Don't know if they need 60 votes to pass but each are worth debating/fighting for
