Joe Biden is now POTUS

Looking back at the electoral results.

IMO Ohio and Florida are not swing states anymore. So I wouldn't even check for them to go blue. They are not needed for Dems.

Dems need to focus on keeping Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Those three are automatic wins. But convincing Black folks to come with that type of turnout every election is going to take some serious convincing.

Arizona is not needed, nor Nevada for the Dems, even though Dems seem to get Nevada pretty regularly.

North Carolina and Texas will be interesting to see over the next several years.

NC needs Charlotte to turnout like ATL, and NC will be blue every time.

I disagree Florida is a swing state if the right Democratic candidate runs ie like Obama. Next election cycle for the will go through a blue change especially their governorship. Now the state of Georgia is Changing rapidly, GA is 34% black and 52% white only.....those numbers are not good for Republicans.

Agreed

One thing I look forward to is the directions and action Jaime Harrison can bring to bear.

IMO democrats really need to look at elections in 2 yr cycles instead of the 4 yr. Its like midterms take them by surprise every time.

Florida isn’t needed. Winning Florida just solidifies a Dem win early.

But there was zero reason for Florida to have gone red THIS election regardless of the candidate.

Charlotte & Raleigh/Durham are definitely shifting in that direction. The numbers were closer than I thought they would have been

Uh am i missing something, cause it looks like the dems aren't really sharing anything.

Senate runs under the previous congress rules UNTIL Mitch and Schumer have an agreement because of the 50/50 tie. So right now, the Republicans still chair ALL the committees. So Mitch has a reason to stall this out and also have leverage. He's trying to get the Democrats to agree to not kill the filibuster as a bargaining chip before he signs off.

Agreed. Every two years. They last 6 years, we have saw how important it is to control the senate. That should definitely be a focus on how the Dems move.

ATL hit 80% of Dem votes in the Presidential and special election. That’s where Charlotte needs to be. Last I checked, Charlotte hit 68%. I think Wake County was something like 58% Dems. Those numbers need to be higher to negate NC’ rural communities.

True, but that's not gonna last forever and dems will control all the committees...right?

Yeah. I think it's too early to be too confident. Is GA gonna be Virginia or North Carolina? I think it can go either day depending on the candidates

Right, these were last second wins for the Dems in GA.

GA is going to be like NC. They are going to be completely dependent on what type of candidate is running and the leadership surrounding the metro area. If GA loses Stacey, then they’ll have an issue getting the same type of turnout.

Virginia is blue and is going to stay that way. Northern Va and the Hampton Roads area is too blue for rural Virginia to handle.

Yeah. Eventually they will... seems like an agreement should be made quickly.. but the GOP man... I could definitely see this taking a long course... especially because now they're using this to control the confirmation hearings for Biden's cabinet.

It says in the post you responded to that Mitch is the minority leader.

Maybe you didn't understand what I meant. As of right now, because they haven't signed a power-sharing agreement because the 50/50 tie, the GOP still runs the committees under the old Senate rules and Schumer can't effectively take control of the Senate until Mitch signs off on the agreement... so operationally, Mitch and the GOP still run the Senate. So Mitch still has the powers that a Senate Majority Leader would have.

For instance, right now, scheduling and questioning of Biden's cabinet is being run by the GOP.

Protecting our ability to vote needs to be a priority. Period. Get the John Lewis act passed. Everybody else's concerns go to the back of the bus. We put him in there. No excuses.

Results need to be tangible. People are not going to wait in line for 11 hours every cycle for broken promises. Especially new voters... They'll be with the "voting doesn't matter" crowd if things don't change.

You are missing the big picture about Georgia it’s not what it used to be this state is almost 35% black The two senators who won are not middle of the road blue dogs they are liberal if black people come out and vote in big numbers this state is at least purple.

100% agreed. That’s my biggest concern about this new administration. Black folks are not going to be as forgiving this time if we are ignored and we shouldn’t be.

I'm not. I'm just not being too confident and I know that Trump was uniquely unpalatable to many whites that might be ok with a Mitt Romney type Republican.
